Wow, just dropped into the comment section and all I saw was comments making fun of the term 'microaggression'. And wow, my heart has never dropped so fast. Look, microagressions are real and harmful, and if you don't think so, then please, please do some research. But I'll say what I can here. Most racist actions/words don't come from people that you think of as typically 'racist'. They come from everyday interactions that reinforce certain ideas about people of color. Look, I'm biracial, Bangladeshi and white. But I'm white passing. So people never say outrageously racist things to me, but I do get microaggressions, most with the consequence of erasing, delegitimizing, or disregarding my culture. See this recent interaction: Oh cool, what's your name? Albanian? Arabic. Oh, haha, same thing. This is a microaggression. I wouldn't call this person 'racist', but this interaction shows me, a POC, that they don't care about my heritage, and all brown culture is interchangable. This contributes to the lack of value America puts on brown culture which, yes, contributes to racism because it fails to embrace other cultures. Anyway, I could go on and on, but I just wanna talk about the add for a second. The truth is, if a POC thinks that it's about race, than it's about race. That's one of the fundamental tenants, not of trying not to be racist, but of actively trying to be anti-racist. A very important distinction. I know it's hard to accept that you just have to 'take a POC's word for it' but you do. Because, really, intention doesn't matter. Context matters, of course, but intent doesn't. Did I intend to be racist or to hurt my friend when I called her an oreo as a kid? No, because I didn't know any better. But just because my INTENTION wasn't to offend, doesn't mean that it didn't really hurt her. So, in my opinion, showing a bunch of white people, using chopsticks incorrectly in a way that's meant to be comedic, IS offensive. Is it the worst thing ever done? No. Not even the worst thing done in a commercial. Does it shake me to my core? No. But the fact that it's making a joke of something that a very, very large group of POCs use every day is making fun of their culture and keeping it from being accepted as a normal thing. It 'others' people who use chopsticks. So for all the people saying Phil shouldn't cover stories like this anymore, I'm really, really glad he did. Because it shows in this very comment section how many people still have a lot of work to do. (Including myself)tl; dr: Microaggressions are real and hurtful, please do your research on trying to be anti-racist.

This Burger King story is pathetic. What the heck is turning our children into neutered snowflakes who cite microaggressions as reason to cause public outrage OVER FOOD. Obviously this ad was supposed to be funny/unrealistic, nobody would actually use chopsticks to eat a burger or sandwich. So what was actually insensitive or racist about this ad? Was it the chopsticks that were for comedic purposes because it's. a sandwich? Was it the fact that Burger King was serving Vietnamese food? Because the woman in question doesn't actually say WHAT was bad about it. This does not solve anything as it leave an open interpretation of what was wrong with it, leaving other companies to walk on eggshells if they ever decide to serve or promote food from other cultures. As people can come back and site this incident as precedent for other outrage campaigns.

i noticed phil plays to the identity politics quite smoothly. hes quick to point out when white people are acting awkward and calls them awkward ass white people. just betting that he would NEVER say that about a black couple, or asian couple, or some other perceived POC's. a racist term used to claim fake credibility while marginalizing colorless whites. This hypocrisy is only allowed because of the war on free speech, where phil could have been an honorable ally to regular people, but this double standard reeks of fear, and weakness.

Wait, what did the BK ad have to do with racism? Because it had. chopsticks? It depicted people struggling to eat something silly with chopsticks, it was supposed to be humorous because lol look how hard it is it to eat a burger this way I don't think chopsticks alone are enough to peg the entire ad as fundamentally racist or aggressive towards people of color, and clearly BK's intentions were not to hurt anyone. Am I being racist every time I struggle to use chopsticks during my meal?

Knowing the history of America and its Foreign Actions & Policys covert or not. The President should finish cleaning up our CIA and many other branches, we have too many issues so just keep it America first, not just in Trade. Iran is nothing new. Nor are they going anywhere. Stop the scare tactic's. Its beneath The President, If he can meet N. Korea & Russia then he can meet Iran. And President Trump will still be a better choice than Hillary forever and ever.

So Im persian (Iranian) so please take this STRAIGHT to heart when I say that Irans Islamic government is a terrorist movement. My family was stolen from, killed, and held hostage by the Iranian government. Props to the US for recognizing that theyre evil. Iranian people (specifically women) are strong, brave, and angry with their government. I hate the government, but the people are not to blame. I say tear them down.

Everyone that is inducted into a cult, regardless of the role they attain in the end, is a victim. That doesn't excuse them from punishment if they've hurt other people, but it should be a consideration and they should get help in the aftermath of leaving the cult. The way cults are set up messes with a person's psyche and can completely flip their views, causing them to act in ways they normally never would.

They probably killed the chat because people think hate speech and white supremacy exists in the imagination of democrats, really white supremacys so small its not even a threat. Islamic terrorist are more dangerous. The Burger King add is fine people over react. I say we fire everyone in Congress and put in REAL people not these politics. Id lower the tax rate and bolster the science and military aspects.

The thing is, Allison Mack wasnt just complacent. SHE came up with the idea of branding the women If she were just complacent, then I could be more empathetic in the victim front- like she didnt realize how bad it actually was; I dont know if I would believe her, but I could see it more. But she wasnt just complacent she was active and added to it, she doesnt get any empathy from me.
