My thoughts on this Phil (about Venezuela) is that you should read some stuff from indipendent and award winning journalists of what has happened and what is happening in Venezuela. Things are not great for sure. how much of it is foreign interference and propaganda (like that whole - Maduro set fire to humanitarian aid that was then proven to be the protesters) is unclear but undeniable. 1 blackout every few years vs multiple in the span of a couple of months conviniently as Guiado (a US asset that noone in the country knew about until a few weeks ago) is claiming things are terrible. Bolton sharpening his knife and fork as he talks about Venezuela not as a country but as a rich oil steak ready to be devoured by American interests shows exactly what his (and the US government) goal is there. US military leaders advice against any military interference and Bolton reprimands them. No coverage of all the HUGE rallies on behalf of Maduro or how the coup actually failed. No coverage of how the last elections were unanimously declared fair by Independent UN observers (US and EU observers declined to go. In fact the Carter Institute has reports upon reports of how the Venezuela election system is transparent and fair (ranking better than the US one in fact. Lastly, last I checked, if 50 out of 160 UN nations recognise Guiado they are the minority. not the majority. so when you say 'some nations support Maduro' its very shady and disappointing.

As someone who was 15 at the time and suffering from depression I think the show is quite accurate in its portrayal of growing up in the modern day and a brilliant show, however I think the tapes and the way in which she kills herself are just a plot device and the show as a whole shouldn't be taken as an accurate portrayal of suicide in teens. The show did not make me feel more or less likely to kill myself than I felt beforehand and I certainly knew the bath tub scene was just a graphic and dramatic depiction of what suicide can be in rare cases. I think some of the scenes depicted could disturb people but no true harm can come from the show and if anything the show is good as it accurately depicts modern teenage life (not the Hannah Baker suicide and tapes but the way people come across and things they do)

I'll tell you why I hate 13 Reasons Why. I read the book back when it first came out. It was a good book. You get the benefit of an internal narrator, and there's thoughtful exploration on the subject as well as a focus on the survivors more than on Hannah herself. Instead of glorifying the act of suicide, it showed what leads up to that point, the domino effect that takes someone to such an extreme. It's never glamorized. Also, she overdosed in the book. I'm not saying that's any less deadly (I haven't looked at the statistics, but I'd wager OD causes more mortalities than a slit wrist, I'll check on that later, but I'm saying it's easier to film someone swallowing an imprecise number of non-explicit pills than it is to show them slitting their wrists. You can still be visceral and not give a how-to guide to viewers.

It would be really nice if you didn't just repeat the mainstream narrative on Venezuela. In doing so, you become part of the problem in regard to the mis-characterization of the situation, and how the American people are being deceived. It seems that the public would have learned from Iraq and the blatant deception there, what our country's standard mode of operation is. While not perfect, Kim Iversen does a good job of spelling out what is going on in her recent YouTube video. What our government isn't telling us about Venezuela /watch? v=2a2ednyUDOM I only mention this because I cringe every time I hear you mention Venezuela. Most of the time you seem to come from an informed perspective, which I enjoy, but certainly not on this topic. Please do a deep dive and help spread the truth. ;-)

Only you choose to kill yourself, thats a fact, 13 reasons why reminded me of my assault, yes there was a warning and I've watched shows with rape scenes that have NEVER made me relive my assault like 13 reasons why did, they truly made that scene to shock people and it made me cry so badly I had a panic attack. From that it made me extremely depressed, I didn't leave my house for a couple months and personally decided to finish the show hoping to see some sort of message of hope, but thats not what it showed. I've always been a depressed individual but that show hit me really deep and made me feel suicidal. I didn't kill myself obviously but I'd be lying if I didn't say it didn't make me think about it and gave me the impression I could hurt those who hurt me on the way out

This is the issue with these studies. They NEVER confirm whether it's true or not. Studies show that such and such MAY lead to such and such. Drinking a glass of red wine each night MAY reduce the chances of heart disease. The world is full of ifs, buts and maybes, but we can't just use that as a basis for softening things. A warning should be enough. You cannot control what someone chooses to do and a TV show is NOT leading them to it. If they have been contemplating suicide and choose to watch a show ABOUT suicide and then choose again to kill themselves, it is, as I have said enough times, a CHOICE. I'm not saying it's not sad and I'm not saying these people aren't struggling, I'm simply saying you cannot pin something so serious to a single TV show.

As a 14 year old girl in Central New York this terrifies me. Seeing that this monster lives about 1/2 and hour away from me. Just because there was only one victim does not mean he won't do it again. Hearing all of these stories makes me extremely uncomfortable around adult males, that includes teachers, family members, etc. I know with most adult men I should have nothing to fear, but just the thought of what could happen if we were alone scares the hell out of me even if it's just in the back of my mind. I have never experienced what that poor girl has, but I am so aware of what could happen. I frequently take walks down my street. If that man were to be on my street I wouldn't know about it. It is truly disgusting how he got away with what he did.

Oh my god. I was purely disappointed with the idea of the Sonic move, but after seeing the trailer I may actually watch it just to see Jim Carey's Robotnik. And for just a fundamentally terrible idea they actually didn't do such a bad job with Sonic's character model. I still think they should have just Roger Rabbited him from the games, but hey. They got his powers ALL wrong though. He doesn't have electricity powers, he doesn't have time powers; his only power other than harnessing energy from rings and chaos emeralds is he can control his momentum and has really good reflexes. Oh well, still looks better than I was fearing.

To be honest I don't understand the big deal about 13 reasons why. I think is an honest series about the hurt around depression. But we are talking about someone who wrote this and make it interesting. It's a story with plot twists and secrets. It's to entertain. that's why is a series too. Cause if we are talking about real depression we can only take about your mind being a mess, feeling unworthy and unloved, anxiety, maybe panic attacks and at one point suicidal thoughts. That's a resume about the subject. So don't blame the series about the suicidal rate going high, the world is really messed up. Don't blame a TV show.
