Democrats and Republicans are playing the game. Republicans dont want to give money to poor people who dont work, Democrats want to give everyone the money but the rich. Republicans want businesses to do with the money what they think is necessary. Democrats want the money to be controlled and only go to pay peoples salaries and keep people employed, potentially at the expense of some necessary business expenditures. Theyll both put their bills out and duke it out and then in the end youll probably see a compromise like poor families getting the same amount as middle class families, and business having little oversight into what they spend it on. Thats how the game has always been played, and quite frankly its troubling, but not unexpected. Being that I dont own a business and I like being paid and having money to feed myself, Im with the Democrats on this one, and I think to the extent possible businesses should be sacrificing their bottom lines to keep their employees paid during the crisis, up to the point where it would not be viable to do so and they would be forced to shut down. I dont want to see businesses complaining theyre only going to have 3 billion in liquid assets instead of 10 because they have to pay their employees, they need to be much closer to 0 or covering a few months business expenses before they stop paying employees.

It is disgusting how government workers refuse to let a good disaster go to waste. Some clawing for more power some making it political to damage the other party. Some using it to slide things they want into bills that have nothing to do with them. All at the cost of the people. Mainstream media constantly looking for ways to blame trump without ever saying anything about how many years ago we outsourced ALL of our medical manufacturing to china. Or how that is the biggest problem. Disgusting and shameful. Do not forget it was the democrats that wanted ways and means testing for the money. They are also trying to push in weird stuff that has nothing to do with what is going on. Emissions regulations for airlines? solar and wind tax credits? The democrats should be ashamed. Both sides are bad but wow the democrats are just being horrible.

The Republican legislation is full of compromises that Republicans still voted for because an imperfect bill was still better than a further delayed response. The bill already banned executive salary increases and stock buybacks that Pelosi is pretending her bill innovated. I'd personally rather have a job to go back to than a government paycheck through some annoying bureaucratic system. The American economy needs businesses to survive to pay workers. Chaining government money to unsustainable practices seems almost like its designed to fail. They're trying to fit permanent Green New Deal agendas into a very serious but very temporary crisis moment. Don't let the dems con you into this. Schumer admitted just days ago that the Republican deal was fair, bipartisan, and immediately necessary. Now he's walking it back to play this game.

I am only thinking, because I will be honest and say I don't know fully, that there was a stimulus passed for business's under the previous administration. Yet this is a stimulus, supposedly, for the people to stay afloat during trying times. I know that is the simplest way to say it from me. Yet I just try to stay out of the higher politics since trying to stay up to date on local politics is hard enough. Oh and people do know that the government is basically giving you your money with this stimulus. I mean so doesn't that mean some taxes may go up? Either the taxes on things you buy, that comes out of your paycheck, or at the end of the year. Just saying. I am by no means an expert at understanding any of this, these are just thoughts with no other backing than by my brain.

So Im in the UK where we have just entered lockdown, though I have been in isolation since last week due to having Cystic Fibrosis (lung disease) and so Ive now been cut off from almost all external contact for one of the recommended 12 weeks with just my partner to keep me company, she has just fallen ill (no, not corona, but we cant be too careful) and so she has had to isolate elsewhere. Today I had to cancel our wedding and honeymoon as they were meant to be in May, and honestly the weight of all of this is just crushing. I really hope anyone reading this, that things are better for you. Stay strong everyone, this is a defining moment in modern history, and I hope we come out the other side having done the right things, supported each other and grown as a society. Stay safe.

Almost a lawyer here: I find it odd that the DOJ would ask for emergency powers to suspend habies Corpus from congress. Congress doesnt have the power to grant such a request. When there is a statute which is inconsistent with the constitution, the constitution wins. Since they are asking for the power to suspend a constitutional provision, they have to go directly to judicial interpretation of the constitution to do it. I guess this can be viewed as a way to gain standing and force the issue, but if that was there plan this is probably the least tactful way they could have done it. Hay we want constitutional clarification, ok, lets pretend to go full authoritarian. you know. for fun.

Americans: We need sandwiches. Republicans: We agree you need sandwiches. Democrats: We agree you need sandwiches. Republicans: At 5 P. M. on a Sunday we will vote on this bill that gives us ham sandwiches and everyone else poop sandwiches. Democrats: Wait, we don't think poop sandwiches will help. Republicans: Democrats hate sandwiches. Media: BREAKING: DEMOCRATS VOTE AGAINST SANDWICH BILL. Americans: Democrats voted against giving us sandwiches of any kind It's right there in the headlineMedia: Actually here is information about exactly why Democrats voted against the sandwich bill, which would have given most Americans poop sandwiches only. Americans: LYING MEDIA

Im currently training at a United Airline's Subsidiary and the financial crisis that is occurring has the potential for thousands of pilots like myself to lose our job. With the airlines parking aircraft, were seeing lay offs and bankruptcies. In the past week myself among the other pilots in the industry have seen two relatively healthy airlines go bankrupt. Thousands of Americans with out jobs and no pay protection. If the airline sees mass layoffs. Many pilots, including myself won't be able to transfer our skills to other flying jobs as the aviation industry as a whole has basically stagnated. Its not a good situation for anyone at the airlines.

I quite frankly don't trust either side alone to come up with a stimulus that is best. As much as it looks like Democrats and Republicans are squabbling over this bill, I think this is a good thing. Yes it makes things take longer but I don't want a bill that is rushed though without some debate. This is part of the whole process and how it works guys. I am Republican and no I don't agree with what most of the Democrats say but this is one of those times where some debate and compromise really is needed. Get it right don't just slam something though. Yes it's an emergency but ramming a bad bill through can end up doing more harm than good.
