I'm in western washington, and we have some smoke in my area but it's not too bad. I'm from Oregon, and my family/friends down there says there's just ash covering everything, a bunch of my friends have to go to work outside their homes and they said they're at work right now with itchy eyes, can't breathe well, they all have headaches, etc. One friend with asthma is able to stay inside and has taped up her windows to prevent smoke from getting in but she's still having coughing fits and stuff. They're right near an area that's being evacuated, but luckily no one I know has evacuation orders yet, though some friends near the fires are preparing in case.

Other issue with Mulan not mentioned - directors, writers, producers, costume designers were all white. Would've been fine, but there were so many things not researched and inaccurate! As someone who has a Chinese background and understands the nuances of the culture, it really just is a movie that shows what white people think China is like, not what China really is. costumes from different dynasties (makeup in beginning looks v Japanese, buildings in one location in the backdrop of a completely different city, etc.

Why does it matter where Mulan was filmed? Its not like Disney were the ones who built those camps, they had nothing to do with it. Treating Disney like they are buddies with the Chinese government. I dont get it. I can understand the whole lead actress thing and why you'd boycott the film cuz of her Hong Kong stance but this is kinda ridiculous. I wont watch the film cuz idc about Mulan but damn people getting outraged for little to no reason. Be mad at the Chinese not a film thats being shot in China LOL

I live in Northern California and the fire is only 36 miles from my home. We have received an evacuation warning, that means get a to-go bag ready and wait for the mandatory evacuation notice. Please be praying for us in Northern California. We experienced this in 2017 with the fires in Santa Rosa, we've delt with this in 2019 with the Kingkade fires, and now in 2020 we are dealing with this fire. I will try to keep you all updated in this comment thread.

Damn, why does everything have to turn into a scandal? It sucks but I'm having a hard time caring about this one when there are a million stories that have equal outrage but turns out are either baseless or blown out of proportion.
It's messed up, but frick it's so tiring to hear all the ways some mainstream company needs to be brought to heel.

I live on Whidbey Island in Washington State. As we were driving into town for a shopping trip, I saw one of the fire fighting helicopters lowering its bucket into a nearby lake to grab water for the fires. This morning it was super smokey and you can smell the fire in the air.

Beside all the backlash it having, I watched Mulan when it came out and I love it (maybe more than the orginal. It was so much fun watching it and that all the matters, right. Plus people going way overboard looking for something bad for about everything lately.

I think its fair to say that the people who started the fire were not our brightest, but I think its also worth acknowledging the mismanagement of our forests that leaves them open to fires like this, we need to clear dead trees and do controlled burns.
