45 kids? That is unacceptable We spend more money on education in america than any other country and still have the dumbest kids and the poorest teachers What corporate oligarchy is sucking up our education money? Class sizes should not be higher than 15 with plenty of options for tutoring and special or supplemental education. This is unacceptable l, these kids will be voting in 5-10 years with only youtube, a hand full of ubisoft and rockstar games, and twitter thots as their sole form of education and after school activites Does this not frighten anyone else? Holy shit we are doomed. Oh i know that's raise taxes to 83% that will surely fix everything, im sure that wouldn't push any hope for employment options out the window, and it certainly will help the economy when the only people who pay taxes dont work. Real solution talk, how about we dont raise taxes and instead we raise tariffs and fees for items that could or should be made in america so that healthy competition can grow from within, then we can cut about 50-100 billion from the US defense budget and use it to hire more teachers as well as start paying good teachers via a meritocracy rather then the failure producing tenure system we have now. Tack on a student ran review site for teachers with mildly moderated forums we could start rewarding good teachers and punishing the bad, lazy, and pedophilic. All we have to do is hire a few trustworthy in house companys to go through the defense budget and cut out things like 50 lunches for all staff at certain locations, or paying 10 a screw or bolt when building a jet, lets not forget 9 trillion dollars that magically disappeared from the federal reserve last presidency, we never did find out who or to where the money went, as if that much money can't be tracked Federal republic my ass America is a corporate oligarchy at best. We are as much a federal republic as china is a communist country

My school didn't have a nurse or psychologist. At any grade I was in. In high school there were 3 guidance counselors (who were not psychologists) that took care of grades 9-12 and like 1, 000 kids total. The only time you saw a guidance counselor was for a 5 min meeting your senior year to discuss your college options. If you got hurt, all teachers had bandaids in their room, if it was worse than a bandaid could fix, they called your parents to send you home, or they called 911 if it was an emergency. Our curriculum was almost completely focused around getting good grades on standardized testing. We would take practice tests from previous years, learn how questions were asked and what type of answers they would be looking for. In language arts we were even taught the type of words we should include when talking about specific topics to get a higher score on writing portions. Our class sizes were anywhere from 30-40 kids. My school was a public school, but it was known as one of the best schools in the area and we even had problems where parents would lie about their address to get into my school. I'm not saying what the teachers are asking for in the video are unreasonable, but it seems strange to me that they are making a big deal about these things when my school had large classroom sizes, no nurse, no psychologist, 3 guidance counselors that you met with once during your senior year, and a curriculum centered around standardized testing and we were one of the best schools in the area. We were also in like the top 10 in the state. I can't really say too much about whether or not what they are asking for is reasonable because I'm not familiar with their situation, but it seems like everything they think is a problem, my school had, but was still a great school.

I felt mostly offended by how KPop fans joked about the Dolan Twins' father's death because of a KPop joke from the twins that was not meant to be taken seriously. I will say that both sides were at fault due to both sides touching on sensitive topics (KPop singers being overworked and Death, but that doesn't excuse the elephant in the room. Death is actually painful, and I'm sure that the fans would feel horrible about themselves if they had their own family member die only to get backlash from others because of the past. Joking about death is extremely hurtful, especially to the victims of the death. These kinds of incidents are the reason why laws like Article 13 exist. (And if anyone is wondering if I support Article 13, I'm neutral about it) When we are on the internet, we feel powerful. We feel anonymous. Because of this, we type whatever we want to type without considering the consequences. There is no restriction on the internet. And that is why laws are being created to restrict such things. When you post something on the internet, it's not like talking to someone face-to-face where you can never take back whatever you say. On the internet, you can take it back. Or at least we think we do. Social Media posts are like talking with someone face-to-face. Even if you type and post something on the internet, you can truly never take it back. It is on your digital footprint, and people can go back and find that post. Besides, behind every account is a living human being just like you and me. So be mindful of your words. Moral of the story: Use your common sense and treat the people as if they were real people, not as just an avatar or character in a story.

I cant express how deeply upset it makes me that people are wanting to go to the funeral to meet the twins. As someone who admittedly doesn't know a lot about the dolan twins or their content, but as someone who has experienced the loss of a close loved one, the Dolan's need time to grieve and adjust. Its so not cool to put pressure on them to create content during this period LET ALONE MAKE THIS (WHAT IM SURE IS) A HORRIBLY PAINFUL PERIOD OF LOSS AND ADJUSTMENT, FORCE YOURSELVES INTO THEIR LIVES WITHOUT THEIR CONSENT. To the young people who might not have experienced loss, who might not understand that what their doing is wrong, i encourage you to speak to someome close to you about empathy and heaing after loss. If youre someome who organized this or you are someone who is not juvenile enough to claim ignorance on what you're doing then you should feel ashamed because that action is disgusting, You're not supporting your favorite creators, you are invading on their lives. I don't usually get this heated but I feel so strongly about giving people space and time to grieve.

The craziest part about this teachers strike is education is a state department. so each state is responsible for breaking down budgets and setting new ones for the state in general. California is the 5th largest economy in the world. let that sink in. the state government also has new income from the legalization of marijuana. so they have growth and room in budgets for growth. someone out there inside of our government is pocketing and taking easy money earned from hard workers like me and you. and they weren't even ready to pay for the education of the youth who will in turn run the government next. not saying everyone of these kids would be a senator or anything but if they won't even think about education first then what are they spending it on? I wish that greed within our government could just stop for just a second. Nowadays we are set to be more in debt than almost every other generation and our government is old and tired. there needs to be changes.

On the topic of the teachers, I live in Australia and one of the biggest problems at my school is that they do not want to deal with depressed students. One of my friends was harming her self and was asked to leave. She now goes to a public high school, and she looks happier than I have ever seen her in my five years of knowing her. Another one of my friends was threatened to be put in detention for having depression. I am disgusted by the way my school acts, and even though I have brought these things up with my parents, as usual, they have ignored me. And, as someone dealing with their own problems, I went to see the counsellor, and I felt no connection with her. Everything she did felt like a generic protocol that she just had to follow. I can't get the help that I want at my school. But at least they're using the money from our annual fee of 26000+ (AUD; 18000 USD) to get air conditioning and new hand dryers. Really helping the students.

Why the hell has education reform not happened yet? Democrats and Republicans want it, students want it, teachers want it, why hasn't it happened? We have students who don't understand why they're learning what they are, and are being treated as machines, coming out with no special skills, no job experience, not even an idea of how to pay their taxes. They have no passion or ambition minus a few, and they just blindly try to get work done without asking questions or having any understanding why they're still being taught common core classes, and have no catalyst to pursue any dreams they have. I know it's a generic I'm 14 and this is deep kinda thing but they truly are just creating machines and taking out all of the creativity, uniqueness and ingenuity out and don't play into their natural strengths and weaknesses. It doesn't work and hasn't worked for a while, we need a change

My younger brother passed away 3 years ago. Because he shares the name of the father that passed away, I had a handful of ugly comments posted on his FB Memorial page. I commented to them and deleted them without hearing this news or knowing what was going on or where/why these comments came from. Now that I know why. As part of the online community it's impossible to ignore the extreme negativity that is so easy for so many people to spread without thought or consequence. To have a loved one to be on the receiving end, even by mistake, just shows the ugly depths we've sunk to as a collective humanity. Stop and consider your actions and words online, no matter how small, snarky or perceived insignificant. Small actions grow the larger conversation. Make that conversation positivity, growth and respect. Peace and love, fam.

Oh my goodness yes We learn a according to test they give and we are on a schedule especially in math we learn a lesson or a chapter a day and we dont go back and its not talked about in depth. My schools 8th grade books arent even used which the teachers said it was a waste of money My biggest class size is of 37 students God sake for 49 Everything is sooo rushed in my school I dont even know whats going on. In math we have less that an hour to learn a lesson or two which includes a couple of notes (the books are useless) and a piece of homework which BY THE WAY the notes given to us are easy but when we get the homework it gets harder to understand AND THEN when we quiz and Test WERE absolutely CLUELESS CLUELESS we look at each other like we accidentally walked into NASA and they started talking to us as a fellow scientist
