19-YEAR-OLD Lauran Mayeaux from New Orleans, Louisiana has arthrogryposis - a condition that has left her unable to use her arms or legs. The rare disorder Lauran was born with causes abnormal fibrosis of the muscle tissue, resulting in muscle shortening and therefore affecting the joints. In Lauran-s case, this means she-s unable to use her arms and legs at all and she uses a wheelchair to get around - a chair that she steers with her mouth. Lauran told Truly: -I need help with everything, if I want to get out of bed, I need help, if I want to get dressed I need help, I took a shower this morning, someone had to help me. - At birth, doctors initially told Lauran-s parents their daughter wouldn-t live through the night. However, the 3ft 9 tall sophomore in college has defied the odds ever since; the teenager is studying mass communications and is set to have a career in social media. She now has over 42k

Its videos like this that gives me confidence about being disabled. Dont know what the purpose of people saying disgusting things. why say it. Does it really make them feel good.
Human race is disgusting sometimes.
I remember someone who use to be nasty to me about the way I am etc, I had things physically thrown at me etc. when she started having kids one of them were just like me & her tune suddenly changed!
Such an inspiration! I was born with my disability, but it got worse as I got older. I use to run everyday & now I'm in a wheelchair. Its crazy how things can suddenly change.
I know many people with different disabilities who like hearing about other peoples stories because many of us don't have confidence.
I've learnt to live everyday as if its your last. Life is too short.
There is too much hate in this world, we need more positivity. Dont judge because you never know if you might end up in a situation where you become disabled or have a disabled child.
I wish you all the happiness in the world. I see you have a bright future ahead. Anything is possible -

She has such a lovely spirit! I really do wish doctors would stop predicting their patients' lifespan. They aren't God and clearly have no idea when a person will die. I've heard so many stories that begin with, -the doctors said I wouldn't survive, - or -doctors said I only had months to live, - and these people go on to live full, long lives. It does nothing but make people depressed and afraid to be told they're going to die in a given timeframe. Doctors, please stop doing this to your patients! You don't know what the future holds and you shouldn't be making predictions about how long a person will live. It's cruel and it's often not even remotely accurate. Guessing the lifespan of a patient, unless they specifically ask you to do so, should never be discussed because the truth is, you don't know!

I kinda feel bad that a lot of these people that are disabled don't want to be -inspirational- or they don't wan't anyone to feel sorry for them. But when you're an able bodied person it's hard not to think that way.

When the description said that she's only 9 years old I couldn't believe that because she looks like she's in her 20s and tik tok isn't for 9 year olds. But she's actually 19
