Because it's hoarding protein. Not just for itself, but for the butterfly it will become and every egg that butterfly will lay. And it's about to lose its mouth. as it wriggles out of its skin during metamorphosis

But what does the pipevine swallowtail chrysalis look like?
Oh and inside the chrysalis the caterpillars insides turn to mush except the brain, heart and breathing tubes then disk cells rebuild the caterpillar into a butterfly shape.
But it just does improvement on the organs of it and the skin under the chrysalis becomes the chrysalises outer shape and the only new thing that comes are the wings.

The very fact that caterpillars mutate into butterflies, something so absolutely different in form and lifestyle, refute Darwinism completely.
How long should the first caterpillars have tried, until they successfully transformed into these flying jewels?
I do not have an answer myself and we probably never will, but Darwinism makes me laugh.

00: 28 - As adults, butterflies really only have one job, mating! They're basically flying reproduction machines. Powered by sugar water. Ah, the story of my life! Except powered by coffee.

Great video. Thank you.

As an early adolescent of the 80s, my Nat Geo gift subscription got me hooked on every insect. Strange how the butterfly can instill a sense of wonder in me, almost 50 years later.

Butterflies are such beautiful creatures. Its really amazing when you get to watch the process yourself. I did just that in third grade and it was so interesting to see.

Wow - there's no bigger proof of creation than that. God sure had fun coming up with unique ways for animals to procreate. Butterflies are one of the most unique.

Its weird how we think of the caterpillar as different from the butterfly. They are the same organism.
