The same happened to mine power supply, I wanted to charge a RC car race pack with 7. 2 volts and the output of the supply was shorted. You and Electoboom helped me to repair it. The revers protection circuit in a labory power supply is like this, because it dont has any effect on the current and voltage output and vorsmall loads (inductive spikes, capacitors) this version is perfect. Its not mad to protect from big current and voltages.

Sir, Is it possible to use a four diode setup like a bridge rectifier to do the same. Whenever we changes the polarity in the input side of the 4 diode circuit, it's output side never changes the polarity. I don't know the drawbacks of this method and I'm commenting this because It's is a low cost possibility but you never mentioned it. Is it a foolish thinking?

7: 47 I think this is the type of protection that is used in modern commercial car batterychargers (trickle loader, they don't charge when the battery is below a certain voltage,
and the + and - outputs are shortcircuit protected, because they don't carry a voltage when there is no battery connected.

You should make a video of you applying it to your bench even if you have to just make it as a PCB that you had on in between each of the posts
I would recommend using a auto reset fuse instead of glass fuse or a button rest but that means adding a hole to the bench

Add a relay and a shunt in series, then use opamp to monitor the reverse voltage on the shunt, the opamp is triggered by reverse voltage and lock its output to trigger the relay to protect everything.
I think my idea is the most efficient and reliable.

This is not a good solution. You are changing lab bench power supply output voltaga -0. 7V. If this is not a lab bench power supply you are good to go. Otherwise this is not an expected thing in a lab.

Can you design a simple circuit for 18650 chargers that is Polarity Agnostic. meaning any polarity orientation, the charging works? Also known as Reversible Polarity and NOT Reverse Polarity Protection!

i really hate when switching power supplies display ERROR REV POLARITY. Like, really? could return an error but couldn't auto switch polirity? The device is already converting AC to DC.

Why don't use a full bridge rectifyer to make a circuit that is indifferent to the supply polarity? If you ad a capacitor and a coil u could even feed it ac. Correct me if i'm wrong
