How NOT to make a Modified Square Wave Inverter Uad: Dear greatscott. You appear to know your shit. Try this. I ordered an inverter 12v to 120v 4000/5000watt. Paid 61 and it's unbranded from China. The sent a mislabled inverter. I got refund from eBay. So tho it's labled 120. plugs are 220 and the didgital readout days 235 volts. . So my question is is it possible to modify inverter to put out 1/2 the voltage. and how easy is it. Please don't say buy a 117. 5volt inverter. I tried. List 100 in frozen meats. So I have a free inverter at 235v 4000watt output. How do I change output voltage. 3 ideas please than have fun. The najers name is XU. .. SOMETHING. friend has inverter I tried sending it back but seller would not pay the 20. . So it's free now. something to practice my hack skills on.

You are getting closer and closer all the time but no banana. I mean I am looking for a way to change 240 amp single phase to 3 phase to power some shop equipment I have. I have yet to find a circuit to create acceptable sinewaves other than square waves which are not good on my motors. Until then I will continue to use my rotary phase converter and keep looking. Thanx.

In theory, what would be the problems with using a D-Type amplifier, i. e. encode the sine wave as a PWM, feed that to the mosfets, and then put the result though a notch filter? Does the capacitor have to be huge? In capacitance and voltage? On the plus side, you can match the filter to be the exact frequency of your desired AC output.

nice video sir. I am your big fan. I recently try to make a project (automatic changeover switch by relay like ups system) For my Desktop motherboard. normal relay working fine but my PC Crushed. please solved This problem. & make a video about It( automatic changeover switch by relay like ups system. please please please.

GreatScott: Great video and advice. Now take your conclusion and watch the youtube video called How to convert a Modified /Square wave inverter to Pure Sine. A perfect solution and work around with few modifications. Also google Texas Instruments inverter circuit that uses similar features of your design. They too are impressive.

Now I think about it, isn't class D amp also use sinusoidal pulse width modulation? A class D amp, a transformer and an old smartphone for sine wave audio generator. Simple 100 watts inverter with adjustable voltage to test smps. since I only have 10 watts isolation transformer which is not enough power

8: 00 What have you done? What is that? I know that is solder but why did you not dead bug that. All I see is thermal damage and pain to my eyes. Did you do that on purpose? We are sorry if we hurt you in any way. That is NOT your wonderful handwriting.

I watch your videos and i notice you alway say its not good idea to build its better to buy the inverter people who are not engineer should now built a inverter but to me inverters are very simple unit

Thinking about using this circuit to drive a flyback transformer for my new high voltage supply. It might not be great for mains AC but it's still a great little circuit: ) thanks scott

Yeah, considering how incredibly cheap they can be if you're looking at low wattage ones, building seems like way too much of a hassle. unless it's just for small AC fun, like you said.
