Apollo Program: Houston, we've had a problem.

We explore the dramatic story of NASA's Apollo Program, beginning with President Kennedy's ambitious deadline for a lunar landing after the Soviet Union took the lead in the 'Space Race'. Following the success of Apollo 11, and the fulfilment of Kennedy's goal of landing a man on the Moon, questions hung over the future of the Apollo Program. With declining public interest in Moon missions, and government funding slashed, NASA focused on scientific research. But the final phase of the Program is best remembered for the dramatic near-disaster of Apollo 13, in which the ingenuity of astronauts and Mission Control was pushed to the limit. You should've used better titles. I searched Apollo Program and the first thing that comes out is your first video in this series. However right below it is an Infographics video with 1. 5m views titled Why astronauts were almost trapped on the moon forever followed by Apollo Blank. You could've done something like this with your title given the topic is already very niche.

Am I the only one who thinks that space mission and other scientific advances should not involve political agenda? Shouldnt we choosing the best people to do the job regardless of their gender or the color of their skin? Is choosing a specific gender or color to go to the moon goes again the ideal of we are all equal?

The first apollo test was a disaster. Three astronauts burned and died inside the shuttle cockpit. That was a horrendous and tragic event. But NASA never gave up. They kept trying and had succeeded with Apollo 11. Thanks to their efforts and sacrifices, humankind reached the moon take steps to the moon's surface.

This, the Apollo Program, is my favorite series by far from Epic History TV. Instead of ending with the rise or fall of an empire, kingdom, or state, or this man alive or dead, it concludes with a hope for more exploration, more knowledge, and man being humane instead of barbaric.

Can any space chair space foundation lovers answer these questions? When escape velocity is
reached, how do you slow down in a vacuum? Why are apollo mission
pictures taken with more than one light source? Like Buzzed Aldrink
said, I think I know why

But it went no further than Mission Control. With public interest in the Apollo program fading, no US TV network would carry their show.
Meanwhile, people are glued to 'Keeping Up with the Kardashians'. Humanity is weird.

Why are people not watching this video? Are they not interested in one of the greatest achievement of mankind?
Next time they should send Napoleon's corpse to the moon, that will get these videos some attention.

Is amazing how much was done after Apollo 11 but wasnt televised. Crazy how much was accomplished for these Lunar missions with the technology of that time and just pure mathematics and problem solving for solutions.

Possibly the best episode you've ever made. The pure emotion felt by the anticipation of progress is simply unimaginable and indescribable. It seems that humans will be to Mars within our lifetimes. Thanks EH. :)

They jumped to moon to collect rocks. Hm. Thats alright. But why would that be somehow related to the hope to the humankind? What one thing has to do with the other? a little bit exaggerated.

Ha and it ends by saying the goal is to land the first woman and the first person of color on the moon, yeah so much for content of character over skin color! Racism at it's finest.
reply

I really hope that landing a woman and a person of colour (whatever that racist nonsense means) on the moon has an actual scientific goal and not just an ideological one.
reply

Any time older people rag on the current generation for poor attention spans. Remind them that their generation got bored with traveling to the moon in under a year

I still remember at age 12 staying up and covering the bottom of my bedroom door so no light would shine thru and watching the much delayed liftoff of Apollo 17.
reply

That end got me laughing: First woman and first person of color. What a shallow objective but, okay, NASA has to play the cards of the powerfull people.

I watched every minute of every Apollo moon mission on U. S. television, as a 10-to-14 year old. I wouldnt have missed them for the world, or its moon!
reply

I mean I love your other video too, but this series is the most inspiring, and just so incredibly well made!
Thank you a thousand times for that

reply

I wonder how much closer we'd be to a manned Mars mission today if we didn't cut funding and lose interest after the Apollo moon landings.

So infuriating how underrated this series is. Space and history are two of the most amazing subjects to learn about
