Taking the seeds and pulp from tomatoes then the juice does not interfere with the charing otherwise add oil on the grill get it hot and tomatoes get charred beautifully or blister tomatoes over open flame even over stove and you need a little oiling the press or adjust the dough so it does not stick because that's the real deal girl

As a Mexican-American myself, to me it-s interesting how -little- has actually changed. I mean, really cheese is not actually an ingredient in most modern tacos anyways. Besides the lack of fats, this process is pretty consistent over time. These tacos pretty much look exactly the same as modern ones.

Tacos are Northern Mexican, and back in the day in Northern Mexican states like Sonora there wasn't many indigenous people so. you're wrong in just about everything. A lot of Mexican food actually came from Spain like horchata, flan, churros, and tortas, us Mexicans just made a different version.

So after 8 minutes she gives up and uses a metal pan? If she didn't know how to use that one then why did you use it? Do you guys not have enough funding for a second shoot where she didn't burn the tomatoes? Like. this started good but I stopped watching when she started using the skillet

Only thing is she isn-t annunciating the words in Spanish correctly. For instance- the double R in tortillas, AL in comal, R in arina, Os in Enozote, R In cilantro. She pronounces the tr & should be more of a thro. Just in case someone is learning Spanish & hears these errors.

Nope there was no taco in ancient mesoamerica. You -Mexicans- are descandants of Al-andalus. Arabic and Jewish Conquistadors that were expelled from Spain. Tacos are influenced by moor cuisine called shawarma. You're literally the colonizers.

I just discovered your show; I love it!
You-re so down to earth! It-s like I-m cooking with one of my friends. I-m also a history buff; food is a huge part of every culture, a part which is often neglected in history lessons. Well done!

Whenever somthing says -mash, smash, mush- you should use a mortar and pestal or molcajete and do as so. When actually grinding you release flavours oils and smells you would not otherwise get as a knife cannot damage the cell in that way.

epazote smells like Raid to me. I don't care for it. It's even harmful in larger quantities if you use too much of it. Love the deep dive into my favorite cuisine! Rock on, Sohla!

Shes annoying. I can tell she-s totally arrogant and judgmental and would be very rude to all people. Im not a fan of the new generation that tv studios are forcing on us.

Whoa! Four serrano peppers fully entact would be too spicy for me. I use 2 serrano peppers without the seeds and membranes in my weekly curry dish and it's STILL spicy.

The chilis back then def would have been less intense and much smaller. And the tortillas significantly clumpier just from hand grinding.
