The lowly quartermaster Henry Every (Avery) takes fortune into his own hands when he leads a mutiny to oust his captain and turn the crew into pirates. Perhaps the most valuable treasure hoard in the world is making its way across the Indian Ocean in a ship called the Ganj-i-Sawai or the Gunsway. Every and his band of pirates decide to attack it. This is the story of the adventure, the horrible villainies, and the mysterious fate of the King of the Pirates, Henry Every

It's like with the 30's bank robbers, all cool until your livelihood or life of you and yours is at stake.
As cool as the movies, series and books are, reality is pirates were an absolute menace to mercantile shipping and the very colonies they operated out of.
What caused them to turn to piracy, and the methods by which they were usually stopped, should both have been reviewed at the time, and more humane methods put into place, of course.
But at the end of the day it was absolute war at sea, popular hunting grounds for pirates were far from European civilization, can't exactly call the coast guard, so they had to do something.

I love pirate history, hense why i love games like Assassins creed 4. And ive read alot of books on Henry Avery, Bonett Gentlemen Pyrate, and blackbeard. Pyrates were ruthless murderous shitheads who deserved death more than anything. I wish i jnew exactly why so many captains were romanticized so much, but its like narcos leaders, el chapo and pablo escobar are the worst modern day monsters to have ever walked the earth yet so many praise them.

The pieces of eight
1. There are no rules, only consequences.
2. Join or Die.
3. Learn and Teach.
4 Loyalty is worth more then money.
5. Your only as good as your word.
6. Actions speak louder then words.
7. Put needs before wants.
8. Active leadership or mutiny.
These are not laws or rules. They are warnings to the wise.

I agree with most of the people here that this is a fantastic production, and a very good history lesson, but some of you seem like you're jacking off to the stuff. This stuff isn't cool, humans f suck, and they always will. All we've ever done is just murder each other. Bunch of dumb apes that got consciousness when they didn't deserve it

This is why there is a big difference between a buccaneer who were privateers and pirates and their ships were different from galleons which had multiple decks. Great show for entertainment is Black Sails with Toby Stephens and Luke Arnold. Female pirates where bad arse too. Not ashamed to admit Im an ageing female and love a pirate.

I know they were brutal criminals, but they were born in a brutal age, many knew nothing but the sea and fighting and had suffered harsh and cruel treatment in the Royal Navy. That being said, one cannot but admire their audacity, bravery and badassery. Henry Every was born in Newton Ferrers about three miles from my house near Plymouth.

Thank God for true Christianity. Love, compassion, kindness, selflessness, these are the principles that makes us the salt of the earth. What you see in this video would be the result of all humanity without Christ living within people.

Worst part of being a pirate was that they always had a bad dental plan. Don't get me started on the retirement plan. Savings and wise investments, I don't think so, we will just bury the treasure.

One of the best history videos ive seen on this site, visuals are incredible, gets all the geographic and timeline information across - and most importantly has a captivating storyline

a bit sad how people glorify pirates, even though they are some of the worst humans to exist, raped, killed, tortured, slaughterd, and abused everything and anything in their way.

you are amazing at telling a story. you got me so invested in this that i didn't even realize it was almost the end of the video, the music and your style were awesome together

Sure you wouldn't want to be the ones sailing at this time, what with all the robbing and murder. But it's still one of the most interesting and exciting times in history.

OK Henry every officially is the best pirate over blackbeard, the fact ge raided one of the greatest plunder ever, and then got away with it is amazing.

Some of the gold coins from the Indian ships was found in New England a few years ago setting off more conspiracies of some pirates ending up in the USA

Thank you VERY, VERY much for pointing out right away that while these despicable pirates were British, the Spaniards were the ones really at fault.

Shows you what pirates, who are still very romantized, actually were. As well as the world around them. Well done!
