video description

Rating: 4.0; Vote: 1
Remastered clips of Los Angeles, California, likely from the early 1950s. Most of the video shows driving on Wilshire Boulevard. We see the May company and the Prudential building. The later parts of the video are likely captured in the surrounding areas of Los Angeles

First part is along the Wilshire Miracle Mile, later parts are evidently in the west San Fernando valley, note signs for Canoga Ranch (Canoga Park) Hidden Hills. Woodland Hills. This was back before these areas were really developed, still open country and some still farm land. Now unrecognizable. Also note old gas stations, brands long out of use like Richfield (part of ARCO, Standard, Signal, Associated, I am sure I missed some. Standard was used by Standard Oil of California for company owned stations while Chevron (also visible) was used for independently owned dealers. From the cars both parts were early 1950s

I don't believe this is real footage. Everything is too clear, focused and timed just right. Even the honking of the horns, which seems to be for no reason. I have a feeling this is AI generated. I realize that Hollywood is nearby and someone at the studios could have filmed this professionally. But for what purpose? As stock footage for various films to use when need be. Maybe.
