I think the video kinda exaggerates Zenobia's achievements. She was far from being the main force behind making Palmyra what it became at it's height and even then, despite the riches, it was far from being one of the biggest empires
She, in fact, laid waste to the achievements of her husband Odenathus in search for personal glory and ambition by cutting off all grain supplies to Rome, leading to the destruction of herself and everything she got from Odenathus at the hands of Aurelian.

I feel so bad. In 2011 I was in Lebanon and had chance to visit Palmyra and Apamea. It was so overpriced I denied it, thought to visit in the future.
If I knew, it was the last chance.
As a history lover, if I was there, I would take houndreds of photos of everything, which should help to at least help of digital recreation of the destroyed treasures.

Everyone is blaming ISIS but not the USA and Saudi who funded them. Saudi literally started off by destroying all historical sites in Hijaz, Palestine, Syria and most of all Iraq. They made us forget our forefathers ways. It only takes one generation. Palestinians used to have shared holidays and sacred forests and much more we will never know.

I myself am from Tadmur, which is the city where people live next to Palmyra, my dad's far uncle is Khaled Al-Asaad, may he rest in peace, my father always tells me stories about how kind this man was, regardless of his extensive knowledge and intelligence, he was also an all around amazing person who provided so much value to his community. RIP

The lack of education and value of culture has driven us to underestimate our history. One day Palmyra will be reconstructed just like it was and everyone who was part of its destruction will be punished. Our humanity and future is worth nothing without our history.

When the city was just recently destroyed again, I learned of Zenobia. Why the hell do we know more of Cleopatra than Zenobia? She was amazing, brilliant and a fearless leader. No movies of her, we aren't taught about her in history, it's as if she didn't even exist!

Great video! What do you think were the main differences between the Gallic Empire and Palmyrene Empire during the Crisis of the Third Century? Im mainly interested in the differences in the administrative, cultural, political spheres etc.

This was excellent! I did not know that Palmyra had conquered Ptolomeic Egypt. Although, it didn't last long so maybe that's why it's not even mentioned in many online sources about Egypt and Rome.

ISIS was created by the west to destroy such antiquity and use as a scape goat to invade iraq, syria, lebanon, etc. Remember the destruction of the Baghdad museum after the so called liberation of Iraq.

Religious psychopathic nutjobs with no regard for life or anything else. My heart broke when I saw that all those beautiful places were destroyed and lives were lost. Beyond tragic.

Too bad what a crime to destroy all the history that belongs to the people. This is a war crime and should have a death penalty. RIP
