Ten Minute History - The Spanish Civil War and Francisco Franco Short Documentary
video description
Even Nazism was far more about being anti-capitalist than it ever was anti-communist. Which is another line of hilarity when people try and justify that as being right wing too. Not realising how bad their logic is (eg he complained about communism therefore it's the opposite system. Well far more complaints against capitalism, apply that logic again)

You forgot to mention that every region in Spain has high autonomy: Spain is also a decentralized unitary state. So here are the autonomous regions, or autonomies:
Catalonia
Basque
Castile and leon
Navarre
Castilla- La Mancha
Aragon
La rioja
Cantabria
Asturias
Galicia
Madrid
Valencia
Murcia
Andalusia
Extremadura
All of these regions are autonomous in their own right. Theres also spains territories and cities in Africa, but two cities, these are autonomous cities, Ceuta and Melilla. So technically Spain is a transcontinental country.
Oh, and also the Canary Islands and the Balearic Islands.

Major omission was the Generals Coup when Army leaders invaded the Parliament. Juan Carlos, using little more than words and the loyalty of the Spanish people, defused the coup, no one supported the small cadre of rebels, and Spain continued to democracy and becoming a full member of the EU. It was one of the moments of history I will always remember since it was televised live as it happened.
King Juan Carlos was a hero of mine, and I very much regret that his reign ended not with peons of praise but in scandal and self imposed exile.
He saved Spain from continued dictatorship and that should be his legacy, not a seedy financial affair

The conception of fascism is often a bit skewed. People think it's most defining characteristic is the degree of authoritarianism but it's actually more about the economic structure (sort of state sanctioned monopolistic capitalism called corporatism) and the pitting of in groups and out groups against one another to stay in power. A political scientist named Laurence Britt along with a good few doctors of history came up with the 14 characteristics of fascism and Franco is pretty firmly within that category as is Salazar, but Rivera is not.

0: 10 Communist Socialist, and leftist are not Democratic, you idiots LOL! 4: 53 So, Anyone espousing socialist policies or leanings, is a LEFTIST. Franco was not fascist. He was a Monarchist Right. And he was a politician too. He saw the world, and made decisions during the 1930s and Right after WW2 ended. Clue one, a Fascist and Communist don't allow other political parties. In the 1950s, Franco did. Clue two, and before he died he gave back the power to the Monarchs of Spain. Research, people!

This video is a one sided English speaking insult to Spain and its actual history. All English speaking countries are PROTESTANT. Spain will always be CATHOLIC.
Spain destroyed Marxist threats by force of arms because it didn't want to become the joke that English speaking countries are today. The civil war was a Catholic crusade.
America blockaded Spain and England placed trade and financial sanctions that starved people. Be proud of that assholes

Amazing job as usual but there's a big mistake with the maps: Western Sahara.
Short story: Western Sahara was officially a Spanish region. Marrocco invaded it while Franco was about to die (late 70s. It has been a territory in dispute since then. UN resolved that people at the Western Sahara deserved a referendum to decide their future but this has beer happened, in part because Morocco has always interfered.

The war was won by Franco because the fascist powers used Spain as a field to try the effectiveness of their troops and sent many of them to help Franco. The Second Republic had no help because of the nonintervention committee (search it please) and the only help was by Soviet Union but just because Spain bought weapons with the national gold.

Pacasso's Geurnica is the mural in front of the United Nations building. It was also in the nineties one of the final million dollar questions on Who Wants to be a Millionaire. EVERY USA and Canadian school kid knows the answer, but the guy on the show got it WRONG. A little trivia here. Just a little.

This was hugely unsatisfactory. Jumped from event to event, and did a both sides good-ism. International support to the Republicans was shady (Stalin after all) and most of the support came from volunteers across Europe. Most disappointing among all your videos.

Nope. How about the election of 36 only going o the socialists because the biggest labour union in Spain, C. N. T told its members to vote for the first time, after the disaster of the far right predecessor? Thats important

Spains transition from civil war to dictatorship to monarchy to democracy is exactly how to deal with that sort of situation, and the fact that a king willingly gave up his power to improve Spain is rather lucky

Fun Fact: if you are in, or talking to someone from, the Barca area, dont say you heard the Franco regime was incedent free to 1958 to 1968. 7: 00
Unless you like hitting a hornets nest. In that case, go ahead

The Falange was not in any way politically important in the election of 1936. They were barely noticed, if at all, by voters. This video has simplified things to the point of egregious error.

The idea of Politician's and dictators shooting each other is a Novel idea. It saves them from a pubic hanging by good citizens who just want to live a normal productive life. .

Left wingers all infighting and bickering over particulars and end goals while right wingers fall in line for the most part, why does that sound so familiar?
