Sorry, but this is utter rubbish! U analysed the Ottoman Empire through an very eurocentric view and ignored huge chunks of the Ottoman history. U missed the Arab revolt, you missed the Mount Lebanon issue, you missed the battle of Yemen, you missed the lost of Kuwait and the hegemony of the Arab pinensula. Arab tribes and local personalities always questioned the Ottoman Caliphate!

Why didnt you tell about the genocide of Armenians committed by Ottoman empire in 1915? Of course you people dont want to tell the dark side of a nation that is a member of NATO, but the truth is more important than that. Genocide of one and a half million people is one of the most important moments of Ottoman history, and not mentioning it, was morally wrong.

5: 25 The Ottoman Constitution was the reason they got onto the battle of 1887. the sultan abdulhamid knowed that if he said no to any constitution votes they will coup d'etat him. also the constitution was not created by abdulhamid the second. it was created by the coup d'etat leaders

Question. Once the empires territory had been reduced to basically just Asia minor/Anatolia, what was even the point of calling it an empire?
Maybe it's just hindsight but what was the entente expecting to happen after they pretty much turned the ottomans into a rump state?

reply

Against all odds perfectly sums up the turkish war of independence. I think Turks have some kind of superpower only to use in the time of great need: when their independent state is going down. From Gokturks to Republic they always found a way to build a state of order

Allies should have went full war on Turkey and ensured Greece got all the historically Greek coastal areas including the Bosporus and Armenia and Kurds got their historical homelands before the ethnic cleansing of the Greeks and as punishment for the Armenian Genocide.

How the hell they even lasted so long with that much corruption and backstabbing is beyond me. It seams they only survived because Brittan was a trade monopolizing colonial asshole as usual sabotaging any serious attempt to push the Ottomans out of Constantinople.

4: 12 The Christians within the Ottoman Empire did not have the same rights as the Muslims. most definitely the Ottomans were not doing that anyway. The treaty vaguely referred to here was a true turning point, even if it sounds like some irrational trade laws.

Fun fact, the greek revolution had a large amount of warriors of albanian descent. Yet this could have brought unity to the only still existing paleo-balkanic people, it has divided them due to extreme nationalists and war criminals.

People of many muslim majority countries view Ottoman empire as some kind of divine establishment. They have to understand that in fact Ottoman empire was like any other empire. It had its ups and downs, virtues and flaws.
reply

Weird that you make the Europeans the bad guy. Just money hungry blood sucking vampires. But anyone else (I assume because they have brown skin) were great people who loved their children and grandma. Ok.
reply

4: 15 Yeah sure. That's probably why they massacred and genocided Armenians, Greeks and Assyrians (let's not talk about the slavery of the Balkan Christian women and forcefull conversion of Christian men.
reply

anyone notice how Leftists are ignoring the history of imperialism, colonialism, genocide and slavery at the hands the nonwhite-races, while trying to blame all this shit on whites and only whites?
reply

Not a word about the Armenian Genocide? I understand that this is a very short summary, but the the first genocide of the 20th century deserves at least a passing mention.

Western European powers 19 century = cancer
Western european powers 20 century = cancer

I've been always intrigued by the history of the Ottoman Empire, both its rise and fall throughout studying history in grade school. I really enjoyed the documentaries.

Totally forgot about the persecution of Christian minorities by the Ottomans in 1895 and 1915. This had a big effect on European attitude about the Ottomans.
reply

Reality: Ottomans beating up Italians in Libya
This guy: Italians won handily; seeing how weak Ottomans, Balkan nations started First Balkan War.

reply

say what you will, the empire did last a very long time. most empires die out in the first few 100 years this one lasted close to 650 years.
