I appreciate this video is nearly three years old, but just for anyone watching/reading, the Kulaks weren't 'wealthy' by modern standards.
If you have 1 grain of rice and I have 10, dependent on your PoV, I'm wealthy.
Many Kulaks just had a bit of land and some animals which gave them a basic income. These were not supremely wealthy landowners that had serfs slaving under them.

And idiots still wanna argue that Communism is the way to live life lol
Even when countless times, it has failed
Actually pay attention to this video
One thing people tend to forget: counties like the USA may have its problems but it doesnt force people to stay. You can leave the country whenever you want; )

Stalin viewed famines as something that already happened anyways. I wouldn't say it's a genocide at all, just the effect of rebellious farmers burning their yields and boycotting the state. They didn't have to go to work camps they chose to when they chose to not cooperate with the state

Ehhh. i wouldnt call it a genocide.
But its very close.
Afterall, it was not systematic eradication of people.
But simple negligence and refusal to help to save face.
Kinda like, not helping a dieing person, cause you dont want to be seen with someone thats dieing, is not murder.

Hello all, this is the first of my unmonetised somewhat controversial videos which are only possible thanks to my Patrons, so thanks to all of them.
For those wondering, next week's episodes are:
Wednesday - How did Ancient/Medieval Borders Work?
Sunday - Juno Beach: Canada on D-Day.

Another weakness is the fact that collectivisation(communism in general) doesnt incentivise production. If you dont own the land and reap the benefits of your work, why would you do more than the bare minmimum?
Thats why quotas were needed literally at the end of the barrel of a gun.

1: 00 Reason #4: Communism never works because it laughably assumes people will throw themselves into collective actions without any apparent personal benefit, the ol' what's in it for me motivation that for better or worse drives most human endeavors. We're not Borg.

There is no substitute for competence and experience.
The workers do not own the means of production, they are a cog in the various wheels that create product, Collectiviisation is a wonderful example of why the one cog alone is not the answer.

You failed to mention that Holodomor was entirely orchestrated by Stalin and was not a natural starvation. All crops were seized by the government and any opposing people were killed. It was so bad that cannibalism was not uncommon.

This is why, if a mob comes for the heads of Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, and Mark Zuckerberg, I would gladly die fighting to save them. Not because they're good people, but because this video depicts the alternative to them.

My grandma was born in Crimea and left at age 2 with her family, she always said that her family lost contact with her greater family who stayed behind, I asked what year it was that they left, she said
1931.

It's ok to deny the holodomer on social media, it's ok to praise Lenin on social media and have soviet imagery.
But if you dare say Trump was a good president, you'll get banned instantly.
Curious.

I think its important to notice that there was an intentionality to the starvation, it wasn't like it was just mishandled, it was designed. Good book on the subject is Red Famine by Anne Applebaum.

The Terror Famine. this title has to be one of the most Communist things I have ever heard. Too think many people living in the Soviet Union at the time thought American workers were oppressed.

Communism has caused more damage and killed more people than Nazism.
Dont ever forget, both are abhorrent ideologies, and neither should be taught or accepted by the general populous.

It deeply saddens me that it took a war for this tragedy to be recognised more broadly and for the deniers of this event to be demonized to the same scale as Holocaust deniers

So if Kulaks increase the price of grain or try to export it is that a crime? Not to you, you love people richer than you so much they can never hurt people in your eyes.

It's almost like history is repeating itself, it's almost like there's a saying about that very thing but goddamn i cannot remember it.
And neither did Putin.

It's worth noting that the NY times won a Pulitzer prize for covering this up. Nor the Pulitzer board or the Times have retracted the award as of today.
