One day, the Crusades stopped. But given the Christian zeal that had precipitated them was still present what changed? Why did the Crusades come to an end?

John 3: 16-21
16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. 18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. 19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. 20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. 21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.

This is a pretty great 2. 5 minute explanation, but for anyone who hasn't studied the crusades before be a little careful about taking this as gospel. He didn't have time to go into the myriad of other factors other than the pope said so that obviously also influence why they stopped. For starters, the pope said so was often only a cover reason in the first place and the religious reasons paled in comparison to the political reasons. The change in political priorities is way more important than the loss of power of the pope (Which may have the causal arrow backwards here) but I suppose it's also a lot more complicated too.
So good general information, but don't be misled.

Gotta love how all the worlds problems are the popes. not the leaders of the countries whos armies actually went to war and and profited massively from it, nope. its the popes fault.
At some point we are going to have to face the fact that its human nature and not a particular race or religion.
The people that hate the west blame Christians, the people that hate the East blame Muslims.
Truth is its always the same mob wealthy families that believe they have the right to other peoples wealth because of their last name.
The 1 percent that owns 70 percent of the wealth.

Simple explanation in 3 points:
- Main reason behind crusades was the riches of Arabian lands in Levant and North Africa then became more like a trend and a way to gain your own peoples credit in right to rule as conqueror of the holy lands!
- Kings participating in crusades were only available when their thrones were secure and while they were in Levant they always used to go back to Europe when they get the usual message your brother is taking over or some lord is taking over; )
- Same kings would have never gone to crusade if there rule was in danger by other lords

There were really two crusades. The crusades to retake the holy land and the crusade to retake Spain, called the reconquista in Spain. The latter was successful militarily, the former not. The 4th crusades sack of Constantinople in 1204 hastened the fall of that great city needlessly leading to the Turkish invasion and occupation of Eastern Europe. Talk about unintended consequences of war!

What this fails to recognize is that the Crusades were begun and perpetuated by Catholicism, which is commonly and erroneously considered to be synonymous with Christianity. As such, it creates a blemish on the whole of Christianity (which Catholicism may or may not be a part of - it's up for serious debate) by throwing the baby out with the bath water. History only matters if it's accurate.

Crusades where the Irak has Biological Weapons of its Time, just an Excuse for the normal Folks, meanwhile the Leaders knew it was for political Reasons.
As mentioned in the Video, the Fight of the Holy League in the Mediterran Sea to keep the Ottomans from expanding.
Religious Reasons on its Flag, but truly economical and political.

the crusades stopped? lol when? the entirety of the muslim world except a few pockets was under the european rule by the 1850's. Even after majority muslim lands were liberated in the last century, the christian west keeps invading smaller countries like Iraq, Somalia Afghanistan etc. tell me again when the crusades stopped

A jazz musician named Teri Pall invented a version of the cordless phone in 1965 but could not market her invention, as its 2-mile (3. 2 km) Range caused its radio signals to interfere with aircraft communications. In 1968, she sold her rights to the cordless phone to a manufacturer who modified it for practical use.

the crusades didnt stop. thats the big lie of history. ww1. ww2. gulf war. Israel. zionism. wars with egypt. bombing of syria. they are all crusades. its just now they want oil also. the old crusades were also about money, not just religion. in fact religion was the excuse they used to plunder

Here's an interesting take that I have: the formal recognition of Jerusalem as a whole being under Israeli control a few years ago was the final crusade. Jerusalem is now in Western control which is essentially the point of the crusades. Just an idea

The reason they lost 7 out 8 that is why. And it was getting pretty damn expensive to fight with Turks.
Turks say we defeated West by eating bulgur and reading Masnavi of Rumi. I wonder what could happen if they ate like arabs: )

reply

You could say that Europeans figured out it was more convenient to fight each other than fight the Ottomans. :-) Or you could say the papacy found that it was easier to conquer little bays (sp) and sell stuff like fake icons.
reply

Who says that it stopped? It never stopped and will never stop as long as Europe is under the influence of their narcissistic fake superiority be it in the name of Christianity or liberalism or white supremacy.

Karl V. also wanted to start a crusade against the ottomans, but he couldn't pressure France into supporting it, so it didn't happen, because it would have left his lands weak to a frensh invasion.

And after the secular conquest, they gave the holy lands to the Jews of the world to establish Israel. I think the crusaders campaign is still running but under different cover, a Jewish one.
reply

thouogh the british gov't never official officially considered the conquest of the ottoman empire as a matter of religion, did the people at large feel it that way?
reply

Funny how Europe stopped giving a shit about who held The Holy Lands after the New World was discovered. I always wondered if that was really a coincidence

omg where can see when did you publish this video? Can you tell me? cuz i am using this video for my essay. using that OPVL format, i am sorry.
reply

Why Did the Crusades Stop? Maybe the idiots who fought in them got tired of killing each other over something that doesn't exist.
