Back in the day, the Swiss were famous for the quality of their mercenaries and their capacity to wage war. Nowadays its known for its neutrality and its lack of overseas (overland) entanglements. So what changed? Why did Switzerland become neutral? Patreon

I like the part where the Swiss were armed to the teeth and nobody wanted a piece of that. It kind of sums up my feelings quite succinctly about an armed civilian populace in my country. Behind every blade of grass and all that. I realize the Swiss are very different than we are when it comes to armed civilians. The fact remains the underlying principle is the same. We're just a little more nuts about it.

Was hoping you could do a video of only your patrons, and then just leave it up on the front page. Maybe you could do a whole section on the site and patrons get their own videos. You could even update it weekly. I mean they are patrons, not advertisers right? Or are you advertising for them too? Okay done trolling this issue.

Imagine having been host to two centers for international peace organizations, yet not joining any of them till later. Also fun fact, this neutrality was extended to the other Nations as well as they made it clear any planes regardless of origin would be shot down

No mention about the fact that invasion was impossible until fairly recently since every road and bridge was wired with explosives? Also there is an extensive bunker network (mostly decommissioned) that was meant to shelter every person in Switzerland.

Of course Switzerland joined the UN. It's the least proactive organization at resolving conflict ever invented. That includes the League Of Nations. If WW2 happened today, the UN would be officially neutral. Morally outraged, but neutral.

I just had a dream about this video, except it was more about why Switzerland exists (with the same title) and had epic Warcraft music.
Also the capital was named Gggr or something

Switzerland, famous for this mountain, clocks, its interesting banking arrangements and of course, its breeding ground for ideologies
This gets them in trouble with the Swiss police

Imagine being the country that has housed the Geneva branch of the UN since, basically, the UN's inception. But, only became a member state of the UN in the post-9/11 era.

Independent people armed to the teeth = wanna attack this shitty country that only gain is walking through bad terrains and minefield of armed to the teeth people.

The stop Europe from officially self-destructing and so that everyone could eventually stop fighting each other and if they invade us they will die also country

Citizen: Aww that's nice, they're going to base the international summit here! Should you go?
Switzerland: ARE YOU SUGGESTING WE TAKE A SIDE?

conflict. Nazi Germany had many plans to conquer Switzerland, for example the Tannenbaum Operation. But it was clearly not a priority.

1: 43 anyone else get annoyed when Confederations are mapped with their subdivisions when the rest of the map isn't? Just me? Lol

What makes a country turn neutral?
Is it lost for gold? Power?
Or were they just born with a heart full of neutrality

reply

Lmao I didn't know Geneva had a UN office before Switzerland had even joined. Their dedication to neutrality is truly commendable

Yes, invading Switzerland would have been far too costly. The army would have had to buy croissants for 50 francs a piece.

Can you do a why and how Denmark was neutral in WW1 or even The Netherlands during WW1? It isnt always covered or remembered
reply
