Quebec used to be a French colony which the British won in 1763. Yet, despite numerous wars after that, France made no attempt to take it back and today it's a part of Canada? But why not? Why didn't France try to retake to Quebec? Patreon

Quebeckers watch the same movies, the same sports, play the same games and music than americans do except we have our own style of living way. Despite the way we speak, We can speak in english. We share the same way of culture than americans. We learn your history and politic in our schools. I consider myself more french-american than french-canadian. Usa is my second nature. Too Bad Quebec isn't a State instead of a Province. State of Quebec sounds better: O

Well technically it was Acadia, then it wasn't until after some idiot decided to segregate the intermingling french and english speakers (which would have resulted in a more unified population had it not been done) that it became 'Quebec'.
Anyway the point at which they would have been retaking it (for it to have been Quebec or even upper Canada) was long after it had been taken in the first place.

As a canadian I remember someone (bloc supporter maybe idk) made a single comment, and news feeds were filled with sheer hate and rude anti-french stuff by english canadians, including death threats, mockery and making fun of quebec for being welfare leeches. The schism still remains

I met a French Canadian in Paris in 2018. We had a great couple days touring before we went our ways. French People were horrible to her, and I was ignored. They would yell at her how can you destroy our language and pretend to use our culture. Parisians were very mean to her.
reply

Why English people always think that the Quebec are like the French just because they speak same language? Its like comparing Americans to British. Its the same. Actually, there are even more differences between the French and Quebecois than British to Americans.
reply

Most Quebec industries were established by Scottish people not French people. The French people left in Quebec are the leftovers of the British Conquest. They are whiners and they bear a grudge against every British person and every English Canadian.
reply

Why they didnt? because they couldnt. That simple.
The fact you entertain some idea in this video that after the plains of Abraham france ever had a hope of having quebec again, shows how little research you did to make this abomination.

If France had paid just a little more attention to Quebec in the 60s and 70s, the province might be independent today. Just a few (probably illegal) votes swayed the issue against Bloc Quebecois. Shame on you France, shame on you De Gaulle.
reply

What might be interesting to add is Ben Franklin's travel to Quebec attempting to persuade them to join the American side in the US revolution, with the promise of being a 14th state free from England--and why Quebec turned him down.
reply

it's exactly word for word what quebecois historians mentionned
yes quebec wasn't lucradive but one thing was france neglected the nouvelle-france ( original name of the province of quebec) so it developped slowly

reply

The way the world is going with all those independence movement, I would not be at all surprised to see seperatism flourish in Quebec.
That would be a pity. and for goodness sake, what might this mean for the NHL?

reply

I like that you cal the American war of Independence a war between England and France. I've been trying to tell Americans this for ages but apparently that side of the conflict has been whitewashed from their history.
reply

Now, sadly, most Quebec young people don't want to speak French. This is why I resent English. because its slowly erasing all world languages. soon no one will want to speak the language of their country.
reply

They did actually sail on over to retake their forts and to keep the land I was surprised they didn't teach about it in school however they got sick and died before they got here a whole army
reply

The frog and snail eaters could have tried, but having seen the new food of Quebec, poutine, they were so disgusted that they wanted nothing more to do with the former colony ever again.
reply

Actually the Brits forbade the colonists to expand Westward into the newly acquired territory, one more bit of controlling big government behavior that led to the American Revolution.
reply

I love the dead-pan humor that sometimes exploits the silliness of life/events (0: 29): .accepted defeat in the Seven-years war--named so because it lasted for nine years. LOL!
reply

Why would they? If I may quote Voltaire Quelques Arpents de neige with a lack of mercantile value and strategic importance. Plus France had bigger fish to fry in India.
reply

thank god north america didn't end up speaking french. it would have been a complete disaster as the genetic french superiority complex would have devoured itself.
reply

When Britain took over Quebec a bunch of Frenchies headed south to Louisiana. They came from the eastern provinces of Acadia and over time the Acadians became the Cajuns.
