There's also a fourth reason: Cliques within the military dictatorship. In particular General Monck, one of the most powerful Grandees in the army, and a turncoat who was quickly convinced to switch sides again by Haselrig. Monck had been the head honcho in the occupation of Scotland since Dunbar, and so had one of the largest divisions of the army at his command. Popular opinion had very little role in the Restoration. It was, in English tradition, the country's elite playing musical chairs.

Reminded me of a song (a part of it)
(This is to all who compare Cromwell to monarchs)
Cromwell, Cromwell, the greatest British king
Strong in his beliefs, he never let us down
He fought for his people and he rid us of O'Neil
As we took our due revenge for Portadown

This video reminds me of some anti-monarchist protests in Britain after the coronation of the current king. And I have to ask: given the last republican experiment failed, why do they want to try again, especially with the restoration of the monarch? Genuine question.

Maybe do videos on demographics? I have heard thousands of English soldiers went to France (during 100yr war) and thus had French/Flemish wives, and so Northern France has the same dna as the English.
Demographics is also part of history. It defines a kingdom

What would be cool is a video on how the nations of Europe reacted to a major power removing the monarchy, a divine, powerful figure who had been in charge of every major country for hundreds of years, and the establishment of a functional dictatorship.

Please do a video on the following subjects:
1. Why did the peoples revolutions of 1848 fail in Spain and Germany?
2. Why do people drive on different sides of the road in different countries around the world?

The civil war wasnt really sparked as an anti monarchist revolution it was more because the king was too sympathetic to catholics, and the english were very puritan and zealous protestants at the time.

Video on why different peoples advanced technology speaking at different paces? Or did Christianity bring down the Roman Empire? Also a 10 minute 7 years war video would be awesome

Imagine if the English preserved the head of Charles I, would have been a fine addition to thier future museum.
The British were chopping off heads way before the French made it cool.

Ironically, it could be argued that the British monarchy was saved by being toppled so early. Otherwise, it may have fallen alongside other monarchies in the 19th and 20th centuries.

Do an episode on the American war of independence and the war of 1812. Could you also do an episode on the gun powder plot and how did New Amsterdam become New york.

The whole of the 1600s in England was basically a continued fight over the same argument. Parliament would eventually get their way, after ousting yet another monarch.

Nothing against the monarchy. The queen was lovely, and so was Prince Phillip. But I do not agree with what they did to princess Diana. I just don't agree with that.
