Why didn't Romania join the invasion of Czechoslovakia of 1968? In case of a Soviet attack, Ceausescu and Bodnaras were interested in whether Romanians would be given a -corridor- to organize resistance alongside Serbs on Yugoslav territory. They said they would fight, but Romanias geopolitical position left only one open front - Yugoslavia. -Here you have the back of the front, - Tito pointed out. -Now there is another problem: the problem of whether you will be squeezed up to the front and cross the front into Yugoslavia with military equipment and everything. If you come with military equipment here, you will not be able to resist here. So we will resist. Then we will accept you as soldiers, but the equipment you have will have to be left behind. Do you understand what I mean, so that the USSR does not attack us? Lets not give them a pretext( ) When Yugoslavia is attacked, then we will go together. -\r\n

A question that i cannot find an answer with all the research I tried. HOW the Bulgarian army got to invade Czechoslovakia? The logic route would be thru Yugoslavia or Romania, obviously they didn-t went that way. I found that they started from USSR territory. Great, but Bulgaria didn-t share a border with USSR either, so again they had to transit thru Romania or moved all that armor over Black Sea on board of ships. Can anyone solve that mystery on how the Bulgarian Army got into Soviet Union?

As a romanian i can confirm this: Ceausescu was maybe the best president that Romania ever had, we are in the human history as the first country who paid the entire debt. No one could ever dictate us anything, he created most of the highways. blocks, streets, fabrics and so on. We suffered too, but in order to make a better life for a new generation the curent generation must suffer. Since he died in 1989 until now 2023 all the politicians are just trashcans, extremly bad.

Romania was led at that moment by Ceausescu. Ceausescu was in favour of no mixing in the internal affairs of other counties. From the WWII to present, Ceausescu was the single Romanian Leader with balls. All the Romanian presidents who came in power often they killed Ceausescu were/ are cowards, and served/ serve the foreign interests, and put them above the interest of their own country. And this is a disturbing truth covered in silence by the West.

How was possible Hungary not to attack a neighbour, when was about a, Gang Attack-? They are so brave, and have, Rights- everywhere, because Whole Europe was theirs, even America and Japan-, but the Sad Thing, they keep this mentality even today. Poland should remind about 1939, and just after invade other country. Est Germany, same stuff as Hungary, they are premium and other nations are just, sheizer-, doesn't matter their lifes.

I'm Romanian, working in the Netherlands, and everytime i drive home in vacation, i prefer to pass trough CZ and SK instead of Austria (even though its a little bit extra money), even if the roads are better in Austria(no offence, Romanian roads are even worse), just because CZ and SK are beautiful countries. Much love to both countries, very nice castles, good beer, and other stuff. :)

What you didn t mention is that in oct. or noi. 1968, URSS had plans to invade Romania. Ceausescu moved the romanian army in the east on the Prut river, URSS planned an invading force of 150k. Romania was tipped of by a polish security officers who worked on the plan of attack for Romania. By that plan Iugoslavia was next. You should do a video about that!

Unbelievable that you have left-wing imbeciles today who view the Soviet Union (and communism in general) in a positive light when they literally had to -build border walls to KEEP the population INSIDE. -
The fact that attempting -socialism with a human face- was meet with literal invasion is all you need to know about this prison system.

The one issue with this video is forgets mention that Josip brow Tito of Yugoslavia and communist Chinese government where also personally against the Warsaw Pact invasion of Czechoslovakia in 1968 and Tito even visited Prague and met with dubcic personally to show support just before the invasion that summer

Maybe it's worth remembering that Czechoslovakia wasn't invaded for the first time, it had happened once before, short before beginning of WW2, when Germany, Poland and (they couldn't be missing, could they) Hungary snatched some of their territories. Read -Occupation of Czechoslovakia (1938-1945)- on Wikipedia.

Greetings from the Czech Republic. Quiete nice video! But you completely missed out Tito - the source of Czechoslovak and Roman confidence. Nevertheless we will not forget. We will always love our brothers from former Yugoslavia and Romania.

Respect for Ceausescu who was a great leader who was killed by some hidden political elite of the country, so that they could plunder the country-
Also during the Romanian revolution, the Romanian Army fired against the Romanian people!

What is not known is that the soviet army was at the border of Romania ready to invade in thst period and Romania was preparing for war with USSR. Fortunatelly they did not invade, would have been probably a bigger dissaster.

As a Po9lish, I apologize for Zaolzie and the Intervention in 1968. Polish society didn't want it, that was the communist goverment who decided to take part in the intervention

The irony of Ceausescu defending freedom of speech and civil liberties
I still feel huge respect for Romanians who organized a coup to overthrow him, huge respect brothers!

reply

This was perhaps Ceausescu's finest hour. Back when he was a liberal. Sad that in 1971 he would visit North Korea and gradually embraced the very thing he swore to go against.

Exports would have fallen hard to imagine at that time as was Romania, which is among the few exporting countries with production power, risking not to sell anything.
reply

In fact, it was a smart move - Romania gain trust in the West, helping the Soviets on their agenda. It wasn't a rebellion, it was well calculated.
reply

I don't really think Poland had a choice but they literally we're invaded by two militaries and given false hope by the soviets in WW2.

Nicolae Ceausescu was a hero and he was murdered by traitors who staged a coup in 1989 to grab the power and install their own people.

Now my country Romania is under NATO imperial butchers ocupate. Get out NATO criminals butchers from my country Romania. Romania needs God!

Romania never tried to conquer, unlike other neighbors, it only defended its territories and that's what was left of Greater Romania

Romania has been our Ally since WW1, they helped liberate us in WW2 and didn't invade us in 1968, huge thanks to Albania too

As a romanian I find it genuinely sad how many people actually believe that this whole thing wasn't staged lol.
