Monsrer Otto Loeb used to box the ears of the boys in our small German American community in the 1930's. Loeb was now a Catholic priest in America, and was a former WWI German sergeant. after WWII Loeb said you did not shoot those good German boys did you? Henry Beck told him. -we killed the hell out of them-! Henry Beck himself told me the story in the 1970's. Loeb was a tyrant and terror when kids were young.

My German ancestry is linked to an area called - Artland - in Northwest Germany. It's close to being between Osnabruk and Oldenburg. Big farming area. Several of my ancestors came from Hanover.
Von Drehle, Seyler, Eimann are just a few of the German surnames. Also my Father's direct family came from Menziken Switzerland. A German speaking area just outside Zurich, last name Weber.

Im really wondering how people wonder why there's so many Germans in the US. Well, first there were no Americans back then and no America. And all Americans are Brits, German or Europeans - Later then cause of the slavery there were also other races and ofc from South America people came over too. So if you're Caucasian American, so not native American, your roots are in Europe.

The largest ethnic group in the US would actually be English Americans of either full or partial ancestry. German being second. These two ethnic groups constitute the backbone of European white Americans and mixed raced Americans we have today. The US census is terrible at realising who first colonized and whos language they are actually speaking.

60% of Americans claim English ancestry. 7 of 10 of the most common American last names are English.
They are the largest ethnic group. But because Germans were more recent, and large numbers of people claim the ancestry of their most recent ancestor that immigrated, more people claim German than English ancestry.

My great grandparents came over right around 1910, probably shortly before, but the earliest photo we have of them is dated 1910 Sanilac County, MI. They taught their kids German, but they didn't teach the next generation, I think that had to do with WW2. They did pass on the good recipes and a taste for beer.

Why did so many Germans immigrate to The United States?
Since America turned German cities into heaps of gravel, the Gerries preferred to jump ship and move to THE NEW WORLD.
Since the Gerries rockets were turning Brit cities into gravel heaps, many of the Brits decided to move to THE NEW WORLD.

My great grandfather came to America as a child in 1852. They came because of famine in Germany. He became bi-lingual and enlisted in the Civil War. He was put in charge of a company of German American soldiers who did not know English and rose to the rank of Captain in 4 years.

It-s hard to imagine that the German migrants who came in the mid 1800s didn-t have kids with the Anglos in the country. Considering they were both Protestants and didn-t have hate toward each other. 170 years and these people managed to maintain their ancestral dna? Yeah right

I've seen several conflicting videos like this that say the majority of white Americans are either ethnically of German descent or majority UK (British, Irish, & Scottish) descent. Of course the Amish have huge families so it will eventually be a German majority if not already. -

One question still remains for me. In 39th century Germany has suffered more than ever before. 2 world wars and a dire economic crisis of 1920s. And yet, there were not so many immigrants to the United States in this period compared to 19th century. Why?

It also may have something to do with Germany being protestant and for them to pick up English much quicker. Their work ethics such as being punctual, efficient, honest, and industrial also made them favorable in the eyes of Americans.

People are now chasing the American dream of getting rich. In Germany, there is a progressive taxation scale, the more you earn, the more they take away, people are encouraged to be calm. but some people are not satisfied with this-

I think Germany is the strongest nation on Europe.
But I would love to see a French superhero with Musketeer's clothes. Also, King Arthur with brown hair from England.
What do you think? Folks who have European ancestry.

Why do you think America was such an inspiration for the Nazi? It's full of them to this day. You can see them flying their Blonde and blue ethnostate flag. Oh Lord bring Putin to America to denazify it.

Although many cities in East Asia are more advanced than their European counterparts. I feel like East Asians who have lighter skin can't beat those rosy cheek Europeans in general.
By the way Go USA!

And many people who immigrated from the UK are of German heritage. My mother did the DNA test and discovered 50% German genetics, despite her entire ancestry traced to the UK.

Why, when you're discussing 18th century immigration to Pennsylvania, do you have the dotted line going to New York City and not Philadelphia? That's just lazy work on your part.

Why use a map of germany after 1990 when speaking about the situation in the 17th century? Just lazy, dumb or politically motivated?
