How did the Opium Wars Actually Happen? - All Parts Chinese racism, their 3000 year old belief system that they were the worlds superior race, prevented them from buying anything produced elsewhere. The British sent two huge freighters filled with various inventions and products which made their way to a warehouse very near the Forbidden City. Then they said, we have so many useful things, for gods sake buy something and balance the trade. The Chinese made their feelings known about the inferior -barbarian- Europeans known. They maintained such inferiors could not possibly have anything of use to them. They did not even look at what was in the huge warehouse. The emperors letter to Queen Victoria despite being very refined and stately sent this message also. Major Chinese newspapers in major cities referred to Europeans as -pig dogs- and included highly offensive and racist illustrations to depict Europeans so the public would know what a pig dog looks like. These newspapers made their way back to London and the British decided to have no regard for the Chinese as well, finding anything available to balance trade.\r\n

Britain didnt want to ship silver all the way to china in exchange for goods, thats not trade, they wanted to fill up set off trade goods for pther goods move to another country and finally do many trades between countries on the way and coming back, one trade is insane to go all the way to china and come back, nobody does that. the brots traded goods between countries and what they had they traded to another country to come back with a full ship of saleable goods neede, silver isnt something they needed it was goods to sell and goods needed to sswap for goods we had, a ship full of silver in a one route to china is at risk from many disasters, they needed to stop for water n food so stopped off at many countries loaded up and made many deals to come back with goods not available in Britain like spicews, tea coffe etc, silver was easier to get than shipping it they made more selling spices. amazing how many are stuck on this false narrative of history

Around 6: 00 about when the British attempted to negotiate under white flag but were fired upon, I wonder if that could have been a cultural misunderstanding. I don't know much about Chinese culture, but I know that the color white is mostly associated with death throughout Asia, and they might not have known (at least one or more of the people in charge at that place and at that time didn't, for whatever reason) that they were coming in under a flag of diplomacy and negotiation.
If anyone knows more about this I'd love to hear it! Also thanks for a great video!

The reason why the Qing dynasty made opium from England illegal was because the opium from the British was more refined and prudent than the opium Qing royalty and corrupt officials grew and thus was driving down their own profit. After the opium war, the Qing dynasty actually made growing opium not only legal but widespread. By the end of the corrupt Qing dynasty, opium was the number one profitable crop for the Qing dynasty, supplying over 80% of world opium consumption. But then, more than 50% of the Qing officials and rich merchants in China were addicted to opium.

China, with a long view of history, unlike America, which can't remember twenty minutes ago, unless it was a pop song, is in payback mode to the West. Fentanyl is now their back door opium, through the open border, so conveniently provided for them by the Democrats, after bribing Biden, and agreed to by Obama, who is actually running things. Treason is now the byword for the Dems and they have the power and finesse, to either force down opposition, or move their herd through mainstream media with their buzz words or distractions.

Trade is just an excuse, and the main purpose of the West is to colonize China like India. However, unfortunately, China is a unified big country, and the West does not think it can eat this meat. There are many intentionally beautifying Western languages in the video, which are not explained in a fair position. It may also be due to the author's limited understanding of this history and insufficient understanding of what the West has done in China

Qing was so corrupt, that is why china got bullied easily. Both parts of qing dynasty fell victim to the opium wars. After the fall of the qing dynasty, China got split up into territories controlled by different warlords. China then become united again to prevent from foreign aggression, because both parts of china have the same common enemy outside of china.

This was so useful and informative, thank you! Disgusting how much of these wars boils down to the British/Allied Powers throwing tantrums about perfectly reasonable rules and requests, they honestly read like snotty little four-year-olds.

The more you learn of passed events done by western nations makes you realise why things are how they are now. And all we do now is blame and hate the once victims of the ao mighty empires

The Opium War actually made Korea, Taiwan and Ryukyu vulnerable to Japan because it weakened China. The British Empire did not take this into account and indirectly caused the Pacific War

A lot of the English are still living very very well thanks to the Opium trade. William Gladstone was right, all these wars served to do is cover Britian in utter disgrace.

It's famous in China as a common saying - To be lagging behind is to be punished '', the westerners really taught us that lesson for all these years since 1840.
reply

And there is no country called India in 1840. India is just a name of place. India is under controlled by England. Indian is slaver of English.
