Why did The Maurya Empire Collapse? - The History of Largest Empire in Ancient India Reason of Mauryan decline:
Ashoka was the biggest reason. He left his Kshatriya dharma and duties of a warrior and lived like a monk for his entire life and this was continued by his successors. It took one Chanakya to build the whole empire but his teachings were forgotten by his own disciple-s successors.
The idea of Chanakya was to create a King who can unite the entire Subcontinent of Indian Culture and protect it from outsiders. And Ashoka-s successors failed in it. The Indo-Greeks were very much becoming stronger through the local support and the Nomad Scythian (Shaka) raids were becoming more frequent. Kingdoms like Satavahana in the south declared independence and were also becoming more stronger.
Basically the entire Mauryan kingdom was surrounded by enemies in all directions, it has to do with Ashoka-s peaceful policies. Ashoka was a ruthless leader who crushed every rebellion in Mauryan empire through lots of blood. His peaceful policies made the empire militarily weaker.
At the end, the last Mauryan ruler wanted to disintegrate the army when the invasion of enemy was highly possible at any time. Pushyamitra Shunga the General of the Army was loyal to the crown but couldn-t see the Mighty Magadh Empire losing to someone militarily, so Shunga had the support of the Ministers and overthrew the Mauryan king and established the Shunga Empire which succeeded to protect the Magadh Empire from any Foreign Invaders from the West & North-West. Interestingly the people of Magadh Empire hugely supported the Shunga Rebellion against the Mauryan empire as they know the enemies at the border was waiting to strike at any time.
So, Ashoka-s peaceful policies led to the destruction of the greatest empire ever founded by the Greatest Guru of India. No followed Chanakya-s principles after Bindusara.
Edit: - Pushyamitra Shunga beheaded the last Mauryan Emperor Brihadratha when Magadh was attacked by Yavanas and a long siege of Magadh was going on by Yavanas.
Brihadratha a non violence preacher constantly interfered in the strategies of his General Shunga and his soldiers. This led to killing of the king because the Empire was under siege of the Enemy and your own king is making your soldiers lose.\r\n

A good video made for Western audience based on common story without proper research. We have been taught in school that Ashoka was remorseful after Kalinga war and adopted Budhism. It is all false.
Ashoka became budhist long before and adopted a policy of budhist diplomacy or war. It was just a tactical face. In fact, Mauryan Empire crumbled because they literally took Budhism.
And read about Chanakya better. A lot is known on how he led to fall of Nanda Empire. Till date, I find Chanakya as the most intriguing figure ever. He was a professor as per the modern time and literally led to a student union, created awareness about unification of India, propagated political ideology and philosophy, used spy network - some of the spies were women. There was not one Nanda Empire but a lot many more smaller kingdoms and governors and he felled them literally the way modern times - from within.

Ashoka was already had adopted Budhism before Kalinga war as his wife was Buddhist. Not only this we are taught due to Kalinga war his heart melted and he became Buddhist. Why his heart didn't melt when he killed his 100 brothers before becoming a king. He was great no doubt but his grand father Chakravarti king Chandragupt maurya was even greater than him he under guidance of Chankya not only entered Alexander post as an Indian soldier and tried to convert minds of Greek soldiers not to attack India further as there is big army waiting for them near river Ganges. So Chandragupt Maurya not only reunited India but was great king. Now coming to Bindusar he captured Deccan plateau the land between two seas so most of India was already captured before Ashoka became king.

Actually, the history of ancient india is erroneously and wantedly written by the western authors, especially british writers, by erasing some 1500 years of ancient indian history. The names of some of our ancient indian kings were same, and this same nomenclature lead to misappropriation of their time. Maurya Chandragupta was some 1500 years earlier to Alexander, who invaded india. This Alexander was contemporary to Sandra cup FHA of Guptha dynasty, who was mentioned as Sandrakotus in the history, who actually defeated Alexander. So, the invasion on India and its history is apparent and is full of intentional and brutal cruelty. Whatever it may be, time will bulldoze everything in its own course of justice. -

They're Wikipedia user and sadly promoted to admin -. . They even change Vedic religion on wiki pages and write -Brahmanism- at that place to defame Indian Hindus.
They even change -Indian Subcontinent- term to - South Asia- on wiki pages. --.
So use Bharatpedia,

One thing is wrong in the video, I would like the creator to leave a note about it, Chanakya didn't meet chandragupta maurya at taxila but near the vindhya(ancient vinja) forest in madhya pradesh according to the oldest hindu and buddhist sources then he took him to taxila in punjab to further nourish him physically and mentally in the university. Please, If you do see it, reply and correct it in tye comment section. If not done this will lead to others claiming the history of the present day sovereign nation India.
Regards, an entusiast of history and culture.

The internal challenges within the Maurya Empire, ranging from administrative inefficiencies to economic struggles, created a fragile foundation. Simultaneously, external threats in the form of invasions exacerbated the empire's vulnerabilities. The intricate dynamics of governance complexities further fueled the decline, showcasing the delicate balance required for the sustenance of any formidable empire in ancient history

I appreciate your hard work to make this video but bro 70% of your research is just not true. Eg. Ashoka turned Buddhist after Kalinga war. But the evidence shows he became Buddhist decade before the Kalinga war. And yes research more about Alexander's trying to conquest India, please research from Indian pov, not just from the pov of western history.

--- How does -a- become -u-? By pronouncing -Chanakya- as -Chanukya---- Its not Nenda empire, its Nanda empire.
I thought the British came up with English but I guess they-re just as confused.
How Chanakya led Chandragupta into taking over Nanda empire -isn-t exactly know- says someone who hasn-t read history before making a video. ---

reply

Legitimacy of Video dropped significantly as soon as you talked about a fake character -Chanakya- there is no primary source of a man with this name, expect a mention in a book which has been modified and contains false information like Buddha visited Shrilanka on this day etc. There was no such man as Chanakya in that time period.

While we watch this in our phones, the more technologically advanced person was watching this live in his own full screen inside his private room which was surrounded by his huge bungalow, which was surrounded by his huge fort, which was covered inside a small hill. The hills had antennas and cables.

They have waged war on tamil kings called 3 vendhars(chera chola and pandyas)but faced a defeat such that ashoka didnt dare to march towards them. He is intelligent to maintain friendship with them. Please put video on The PANDYAS the having the pride of the longest ruled kingdom in the world.

Every time he says ChaNUkya I get this intense cringe mixed with a spike of rage. Is it so hard to say Chanakya with a western tongue? If the maker of the video can't speak the name of Chanakya chances are he will make a shit of video about him and the Guptas. Stopped watching at 2. 42.

It is not Nanda Empire. It is also not Mauryan Empire. It is MAGADH empire. These were dynasties. Kindly refrain from colonialist era Euro designations of dynasties of same empire as different empire, lest we start using the term 'Julio-Claudian empire' instead of the Roman Empire.
reply

Indogreeks were Mauryan relatives and ally. Shunga was also relative of Maurya in his zeal to rule he destroyed pan India Mauryan empire. Shunga was opposed by satvahan kings also for breaking Mauryan empire. Few Mauryan princes survived and rules minor kingdoms still many years
reply

Chandragupta Maurya was born in Patilputra. Not in present day Afghanistan as this video suggests. And Buddhism is just another sub-route of Hinduism. Just like many, you can choose to worship budha or Ganesha or shiva or Krishna etc etc
reply

Hi idiots, Channakya is a fake, he didn't exist. Arthashatra was written sometime after 8th century A. D.
I don't know from where you are getting the false information about Channakya being the minister of Chandra gupta.

reply

Ashoka became a buddhist much before the Kalinga war. Religion had nothing to do with his war or peace efforts
The false history that as a Hindu he was violent but became a buddhist has been perpetrated to malign Hinduism.

reply

I laugh every time I see -Alexander Empire-.
It was Achaemenid Empire which just fell into the hands of Alexander. He didn-t create any empire, just conquered the Persian empire when it was in a weak point.

reply

That wasn't the biggest empire in ancient times. You people have no clue how far back history goes and how vast empires were. There were global empires 10, 000 of thousands of years ago plus even further back.
reply

Ashoka was a Buddhist before the Kalinga war. Buddhist falsely used the war to say it was a peaceful religion.
Look at Srilanka, Burma( Myanmar) today. You don't find it a peaceful religion.

Capable and evil communities are quick to call weak and just rulers quarrelsome and fight them at every turn.
