This doesn’t mention the jammun massacres which occurred shortly before the conflict errupted. The armies of Kashmir began massacring thousands of muslim civilians in the jammun region in an successful attempt to turn the region minority muslim. Its estimated that around 100, 000 muslims were killed in these massacres in jammun and the proportion of muslims in the region fell from 60% to 33%. In response, pashtun tribesmen began massacres of Hindus in the areas of jammun under their control, with the proportion of hindus in these regions falling from 10% to less than 1%. This was a large part in why the Pakistani government felt pressured to act and invade the princely state.

Great video but it was important to mention that five days before Pakistani troops entered Kashmir, the Maharaja state forces initiated a large scale genocide in Jammu killing over 200K Muslims and reducing this majority to a minority population. Indians keep living in this delusion where they reject the ruler’s jurisdiction in the case of Junagdh (Muslim ruler wanted to accede to Pakistan with Hindu majority) but happily seem to accept jurisdiction over Muslim Kashmir just because the ruler acceded to India.

Britishers always create inter-ethnic tensions intentionally for their surreptitious intensions. When the situation gets off the hands & Britishers failed to reconciliate between them, they leave the region leaving an unstable & uncertain future in the back, such as Kashmir & Palestine. We often accuse India/Pakistan and Israel/Palestine for the crisis, but the real player was UK, doesn't matter were there Cons or Labour govt.

cuz the brits planned it that way. it was a revenge tactic, meant to create conditions in the region that would ensure that stability and prosperity stagnate. they did this throughout numerous regions on the globe as they had to retreat and abandon these places. so it's all out of vengeance. they can then also play the upper moral card, in that they pretend to be the peacemakers for an issue that they created.

In brief, the British intentionally divided Kashmir and India at large to thwart Soviet influence in the newly independent India. However, this action resulted in a prolonged conflict not only between India and Pakistan but also throughout South Asia. The irony is striking, given the strong advocacy for human rights by these genocidal societies of West in this period

#IMPORTANT The point to be noted was pakistan new there was significant population of hindu (30%) and hindu sided muslim that under any voting kashmir will end up joining india.
This fear led to Pakistan not abiding UN peacekeeping resolution thus forever preventing any form of voting to be taken and tension between 2 nation.

to be cleaar the gilgit scouts has noting to do with local gilgit people its entirely operated by a british who made secreat deal with pakistan as he was supported by then british gov to cutoff indias direct access to central asia as you can see geopolitcs also playing its role here and the victim was india and still is.

Right at that moment when Maharaja and Poonch rebels were unstable, Hari Singh lost his right to rule this land since it is a Muslim majority land. And, according to the commitment from the British Viceroy, that land should not be within India. India forcefully occupied that land.

I don't understand how both countries with barely a year of independence each, had functional armies. Did the British leave them arms Did they have enough revenue to purchase weapons in only one year They had an airforce and a navy as well.

I'm from Gilgit which india considers part of indian occupied Kashmir.
We got independence from British backed dogras on 1st November 47 and we fought for it, later joined Pakistan
Pakistan crossed into Kashmir on 22 oct.
