Do you think we become more introverted as we age? I don't know about you, but I've heard stories from people who claim that they were more extroverted when they were younger but became more introverted as they become older. Is introversion fluid? How do you tell if you became more introverted? Is your friend introverted? Are you an introvert and became more of an introvert? In this video, we talk about some studies on why people become more introverted as they age

I was an extrovert and wanted friends or interactions with others as a child, teen and in part of my young adult years. But it drastically changed once I hit 30. I no longer need friends and actually dont want any, prefer to skip social activities unless its just with family Im comfortable with, I prefer the company of my children, select family members and husband or complete solitude from everyone. I dont want to meet new people and create new relationships as this is exhausting to me. I was always so nice and wanting friends but people are jerks. Ive had people take my kind nature for weakness and I refuse to let it happen again. So I believe yes as we age and due to life changes we become introverted BUT I also believe its due to life lessons on how you cant be trusting and open with everyone. I dont trust easily anymore and the first impression is the impression I have of you. I have become intolerant of drama and one bad vibe and you get cut off in my book. I have zero tolerance for bad energy/vibes. I used to give the benefit of the doubt because I was so forgiving but people use you as a doormat, so no! You burn me once and were done. This is also why my circle is very small. I like it this way because I can protect my peace and energy. I dont have to make others happy, I can focus on myself and my family. I am very content and enjoy going at the beat of my own drum. I dont care what people think of me anymore too and I feel extrovert people care what others think of them and seek validation from others and as you get older, all of that goes out the window as you dont have time to worry about others and their opinions. So yea this video is correct but I also think it should be added that nice people tend to be extroverted till they got tired of being mistreated and that too caused them to become introverted. Not saying that only kind people are extroverts or introverts arent naturally kind.

I was extrovet in elementary untill 7th grade I just began getting anxiety and started becoming the quite kid in the back who plays with his fingers and pops them and when the teacher talk to me I talks in a nervous quite voice but in reading I like to read aloud but also i hate when people try to have a conversation with me I always ignore them my best friend I have right now doesn't understand me when he says want to come over to my house I say no thank you I just want to be alone. Oh in elementary I used to be the kid who talks to every one. like in Christmas parties or any holiday party's I like them becuase it was the only time I got to talk to evryone with out getting introuble but in 7th grade I don't want to particepate in activitys anymore I lost my athletc I used to be one of the fast kids and I never go to school in party days I have adhd but it doesn't affect anymore I'm in 7th grade right now but

Its wierd, used to be pretty extroverted in years 2 and 3 at school. But, now as a teen, I am the complete opposite. One of the main reasons was because I was basically an outcast and people started to lose interest in me, also because I was bullied from my health condition alopecia for having no hair. I got called cancer girl for a long time, but after a while, I started to get socially awkward, never went out to many parties with my friends. Even though I have social anxiety now, I was diagnosed even when I was still extroverted as a kid, I just couldnt be around to many people and get overwhelmed by sound because of my autism. Even when I do occasionally go out with people I get drained and have to do something alone like play a video game draw, or watch anime. (my hobbies. Being an introvert has taught me a lot about myself as well, which I appreciate. Its actually fun sometimes, haha.

Here is how I became an extrovert to an introvert: Preschool: I asked kids if I could play with them, but they stayed away from me a lot. 2nd grade: I asked kids if I could play with them; They said yes, but they forgot that I was with them. 3rd grade: I finally found a group of friends, but then I had to move that summer. 4th grade: I asked kids if I can join them; They said no. 5th grade: I made a friend, then we joined with another two friends to form a friend group. 6th grade (present): We made a new friend, then a friend group of three joined us. I am happy with my friends that I have. That is how I became from an extrovert to an introvert.

honestly, I wondered about this. I know that when I was younger, I was happier and outgoing. I found it easy to make friends. But as I grew up, I started to find it more and more difficult to talk to strangers and began shutting myself off more and more. Now I don't even leave my room anymore, and will have what I think are panic attacks that occasionally result in tears and often self hatred after talking to others for more than an hour. I also struggle to handle big groups as well. unfortunately, as a child I never got to see a therapist or psychologist and hardly have the money for one now.

I would say that my personality has changed due to my make up and circumstances, but I would say that it varies from what a person desires to do with how that is all handled. basically, everyone should be introspective, and although that carries characteristics of introvert, it does not end there if someone finds their passion in interacting with others, crowds even, purposefully. I don't really believe anyone should be at any side declaringly, I just think people should be balanced and use whatever is fit for their role, I guess. that's not psychology anymore tho, is it

In fourth grade I remember having tons of friends and talking to everyone, then in 5th grade its like my entire personality just changed. I was the quiet kid, I never talked that much. I wouldnt call myself happy. And I know it wasnt just me growing up, cause I hadnt grown up, I just switched. Then in 6th grade a started being confused with which one I was and I was more sad. The in 7th I was set with my fate, Im just not a happy person, and things are still the same way. Happiness is a distant dream, that only comes in small moments.

I used to be extrovert when I was a little kid. But when I'm in elementary school I got a lot of bad things that make me trauma (like bullying, fake friends, trust and others, I become a introvert after that. I become more energy when I alone more than spend time with others. But I miss the old me. Became more social like that. it just because I can't really speak to other even though with my family. My mum mad at my cause I don't wanna talk to my grandma it just I can't talk to anyone who I weren't really close to.

i am currently truamatized with talking to people, people nowadays are so judgemental they criticized you and backfight talking behind you. I choose my inner peace than loosing all my energy to this kind of people. I am more happy to be me alone, with my husband who is introvert also, my family who trully loved me and my true friends whos been with me for 15yrs. Its better to surround yourself with few circle of people who are true to you.

i grew up trying to fit in. trying soo hard to feel like part of the crowd. it was exhausting and it was obviously waste of time because u could tell i was just different that is introverted but i never knew, wish i knew ealier no regrets though. am now good alone, fully introverted no apology no mask. i attract i dont seek attention. it was our nature all along we just had to conquer the society first to appreciatte ourselves more

Thanks u guys! I've been shifted but dunno why. I used to question myself who I am: the past extroverted or the present introverted. I tried to go out, to meet people in crowd groups though I don't enjoy it anymore. I thought I just lost my social skills for my long time staying alone at home. :) thanks to your video I do not waste my time doubting myself anymore: ) I'm grow older and I do enjoy this new me

I myself am not significantly old. I grew up with little to no social circles. In my early years I kept to myself at times, but wouldn't fully classify myself as an introvert. As I age, I find that I've become 'shyer', more weary in social situations, and wanting less and less to do with others. I've even noticed that I don't feel as adept at acting or public speaking which I excelled at in my younger years.

As a young person growing into my Twenties I was an introvert. When I became aware of this personality trait, I made a conscience effort to be more extroverted. However, I experienced that people couldn't except my level of intense thinking and complex way of being. After years of making an effort to be more socially outgoing and being continually rejected, I'm now more introverted then I ever was before.

I think i used to be super extroverted as a kid because i thought life was beautiful and had wonderful fantasies and hopes for the future. Now being older, I think i experience many false hopes and have come to accept life as it is. Just simple life, nothing special, nothing exciting, same routines everyday. I think its more of a transition from fantasies of having fun to inner peace

me, by accident I became shy I don't what to be shy.
You see before I could make like tribillion friends is 3 seconds now I can't, don't know why, know I'm sort of shy and I hate being shy it took me an intare year to make 2 friends just TWO and also an intare year for the classroom to acrept me. I DON'T LIKE IT WHEN THAT HAPPENS!
WHY TO MEEEEEE! WHYYYYYYY!

I would say yes, in a way, there's a saying, as you get older, your circle gets smaller and smaller, and you learn how to love to be alone. You have a bunch of friends in your teens and early 20s, but as you get older in your mid 20s, your social circle shrinks and you much prefer to either spend time alone or with 1-8 other people, instead of 50-100 people.

Being an introvert doesnt mean you like being alone; everyone likes being alone.

Introvert tend to observe the world, whereas extroverts tend to be a part of the world.
Introverts enjoy listening, whereas extroverts enjoy talking.

I was popular af kindergarten through sophomore year of high school. Then I started becoming more introverted. I always played sports but i was never ever a person to really go to parties ever in my life. Maybe video games played a part in it all lol. I do remember having ALOT more friends as a kid than I do now lmaoo

I've mostly been introverted and I probably became an extrovert for a year and then realized introversion was better. Some people still come across me as an extrovert because of the fact that I can speak well about certain things of given an opportunity. So it was a slight shift towards extroversion and then backing off.

Ok so I'm starting to isolate myself from everyone. Not in aa bad way. Because it's my last year of primary school and all my classmates annoy me because the fight then become friends all the time (if it was like once or twice that's ok but it's every week) So I'm trying to be introverted but still confident

Im just 17 and ive changed to a highly introverted person in 2 years. I feel like real connection with people can't br found. They just wanna use you for their own benefit and leave when they don't need you. Thats why i have stopped interaction with people unless it is important for me to do so.

I thought I was an extrovert in elementary school but as soon as I started middle school I realized I wasn't an extrovert, I was just used to my surroundings and the people around me in my old school. Turns out I was actually an introvert which makes sense since outside of school I was shy and quiet

if both you're parents are suicidal that must mean you're suicidal right? so one day you're parents kills themselves and you get adopted into a a healthy loving family and I was too young to understand. Does this mean that because of genetics you're going to get suicidal urges from my genetics!

I was an extremely introvert and I became very extrovert at the end of school, when I sought works to settle to a joyful ambivert. So. nope. Not really. and working with older peoples, I also realize it's not much the case with them either. They so do not care what they say to others XD
