Psychological Advantages of Morning Routines Friedrich: I live in the American Gardens building on West 81st street. My name is Patrick Bateman. I'm 27 years old. I believe in taking care of myself, and a balanced diet and a rigorous exercise routine. In the morning, if my face is a little puffy, I'll put on an ice pack while doing my stomach crunches. I can do a thousand now. After I remove the ice pack, I use a deep pore cleanser lotion. In the shower, I use a water activated gel cleanser. Then a honey almond body scrub. And on the face, an exfoliating gel scrub. Then apply an herb mint facial mask, which I leave on for 10 minutes while I prepare the rest of my routine. I always use an aftershave lotion with little or no alcohol, because alcohol dries your face out and makes you look older. Then moisturizer, then an anti-aging eye balm followed by a final moisturizing protective lotion. There is an idea of a Patrick Bateman, some kind of abstraction, but there is no real me. Only an entity, something illusory. And though I can hide my cold gaze, and you can shake my hand and feel flesh gripping yours and maybe you can even sense our life styles are probably comparable, I simply am not there.

i need two days to switch. I can get up easily in the morning, when i woke up at about the same time the day before. My body tells me to wake up at the same time. so normaly i wake up at 4: 30. and on the weekend i wake up at about 5: 30 because i cant sleep any longer, and it doesnt matter when i went to sleep.
So when i have night shift, i sleep from 7: 00 a. m. till 1: 00 p. m. and get a power nap of have an hour an hour before work going to work.
and after my night shift ends its pretty hard to get the morning shift in. but when i got routine in it doesnt really matter when i work/sleep. The change is the problem.

I never get breakfast ever. I used to occasionally get frozen waffles before school. I don't have time to make anything and we just don't have anything easy. My mom wakes up like half an hour before school so she spends the whole morning only getting ready for school and her work there. And I get nothing for school so the very first time everyday is after school which ends at 3: 10 pm, I wake up at around 6 am. Even on the weekends my parents only occasionally make food in morning

I am totally a morning person and I always had trouble concentrating late at night but I was working the night shift for many years so my body got used to it. So I think anybody can change their natural body rhythm with enough practice but it does take some work and organizing things differently to do so.
But of course, if you go to sleep super late, it is impossible to be efficient and full of energy first thing in the morning! :)

Too much conflicting statements in this one. Don't work until you decide to go to bed what does this mean (or was it just a mis-read? Plus, we can't choose to schedule ourselves based on our natural rhythms, if we all took jobs that worked best with our productivity levels, unemployment levels would increase and our natural talents would not necessarily be suited with a job.

Okay so, I'm night owl af but even so. how am I supposed to do all that in the morning! I get up at 6: 30 to get to class by 8: 30. If I get up any erlier to do anything else than the basics I am pretty sure I will die. Also, breakfast is not an option. I usually feel sick in the mornings. I could try meditation, though I'm not sure I can stay awake through it hahahaha

My life sucks: ( I have to get up early every day. And get started with my routine and have to complete most of my work in the morning. This is very difficult for me. Because I function better at night. But due to my schedule I even have to sleep early. So I complete all my work in the morning and afternoon. Well I am fighting against my genes all day. Give me a Trophy!

I agree with everything but the Night owl/ morning person stuff, and obviously its just my personal bias, but Ive been both of these things at different parts of my life and I genuinely think anyone can be either or, it just takes a bit of time and working yourself into that routine but its not hard coded into are genetics lols imo of course.

I'm genetically mixed AND in-between. I'm tired all the time and inherited my mother's easy depression. My father had a lofe style full of harsh narcism amd my mother didn't come up in a desirable household. We struggle now with basic etc. so you can only imahine the amxoety/narcism/depression/handling life issues I've harbored.

I'm a night owl, ever since I was a kid. Always had so much trouble getting up in the morning, it's the worse part of the day for me. And no matter how much I'm tired during the day, I suddenly get all woken up as soon as the sun goes down. I tried to fight it but in vain. Now I've accepted it!

I'm a night owl, and I could've told you this is genetic without any scientific proof. It's 10: 00 pm and I still haven't started my homework. My morning routine is typically wake up at 6 am, turn the lights on, and lay back down for half an hour before getting up again to get ready before 7.

I go to sleep around 22: 00-24: 00.
Get up around 6: 00-6: 20.
Have at least 1: 30 hours to go to school.
Do everything that I want.
Getting ready 15 minutes before getting out.
Being ready.
Bye.
I'm lazy so I calculate how to do as little as possible.

I'm a night owl. I spend most of my day hissing at bright lights and struggling to stay awake in class. There should really be a night school. It would benefit _soooo_ many people and think about all the ready-made night shift workers you would have, straight out of college!

Hi Psych2Go, I was windering if you could do a video about going sleep late. I'm going to sleep way too late and I wonder how can I fix it. Btw. I usually come back from school about at 15, but sometimes at 18 when I have to do something important
Thank you in advance.

I function equally throughout the day. I wake up early so I can take my time, and throughout the day, I tend to always take my time with things as I don't stress as much. I also take a shower in the morning to help me wake up and helps with stress for me.

I and my mother and friends are such intense night owls that we don't know what a good routine would be for our types. Any suggestions?
I start feeling tired around 7 AM, if you need a baseline.
Any night workers who can help?

im a night owl and the fact that school starts at 8: 00 and I have to wake up at 6: 30 just to get ready really doesnt help like? why doesn't night school exist I'd really like to do the whole learning things when I'm awake
reply

if you don't function well in the mornings. ' honestly. i don't function well ever. i am always tired and never motivated for more than half an hour. if anyone has an idea why that might be, pls feel free to reply.
reply

I think I may be in between, because so long as I get my 8-9 hours of sleep I'm good to go. Though personally I prefer the morning, just because it feels less lazy and natural to get up in the morning.

College is forcing me to become an early bird, i hate morning classes but thats what i ended up with. Though i must say, it works for my hall because everyone is asleep and its nice and quiet uwu

We, people working on shifts, can hardly make an regular sleep time. Or any other regular daily schedule.
By the way, I was always a night person and I have troubles getting up early.

Watching this in the morning and about to do some creative stuff! Meditation seems like a really interesting thing I hadn't considered. Would you consider doing a video on meditation?
reply

When you see this video at midnight and then you know that you're a night owl and you have to sleep to keep productive the next day.

I love the night more. I do all my homework at night and organize everything at night, to what pj to wear to my breakfast but I don't face stress. sometimes.

Having a consistent morning routine can create all the disparity in being effective, reaching goals, staying organised, and doing all of this with positiveness.
