Most of the facts are relevant to me, as I started to realised that I am an introvert through this video. I also thought of one small detail which applies to nearly all introverts in this world (including me, that we all used to be extroverts. However, some kind of huge emotional shock changed us. For me, it was the fear of making the same mistake again, which would affect one's lifetime (as long as I thought, since I'm pretty anxious in things like human relationships. From that time on, I barely talked to anybody, my thinking to everything would turn deep (which changed my brain to a logical mindset, and my values would decrease to nothing (this means that things I used to consider value would become non-valued, and I wouldn't even have a value now) except reproduction which is natural, and in this present time, I'm starting to recover from the shock, and so I am feeling comfortable with the group of 5 that would try to communicate with me, (which I appreciate a lot. However, I seem to never fully recover from that shock, since nothing would make me feel the extrovert way, none for a millisecond, so I will probably stay in this state forever, which I am fine with.

I see myself as a different introvert im ok with small social like hanging out with a small group of friends that are familiar to me im not that shy but most of the time i prefer to be quiet if their is a bunch of people that i don't feel comfortable hanging out with i create a excuse to leave I don't like social gatherings not just because it's tiring but i feel out of place sometimes in School i don't mind interacting with my classmates but when I'm home i prefer to stay their the whole day and just do things i like i have some trust issues also from being a bullied victim and being use its hard to trust people
reply

yep, im definitively an introvert
i actually took smalltalk lessons in my free time. you can learn it: ) but its still hard for me.
so i only use it when i have to sit next to someone for longer periods of time, like in a train. makes you feel less awkward sharing safe space with someone.
you can start a conversation with sth like nice scarf, if it looks handmade the person will be extra happy and tell you, and i like people being happy.
or talk about the destination. i had like some really awesome conversations with strangers when i took the train from north germany to south and vice versa.

everything you said about rain is 100% accurate! everyone always says that rain makes them sad. i _never_ understood that. to me it was always the opposite.
in elementary school whenever it was a rainy day we would all get to play inside with boardgames or whatever toys the classroom had. of course i loved playing outside but we did that every day so it was a treat to be able to do nothing but be inside with less expectations of what to do. teachers always went easier on us too when it was raining. the sound is also very soothing and i like the way everything smells during and afterwards

reply

okay so I thought I was weird cause I LOVE the rain. it's just. yes! it's the perfect time to read or take a nap it's just lovely when it rains. it's so quiet and peaceful. i do my best creative work when it rains! i didn't know it was an introvert thing. i have the qualities of a anxious and thoughtful introvert apparently cause social situations give me anxiety. and i can get so lost in thought i don't react to people trying to get my attention until i realize i zoned out hard again.
edit: also small talk ugh. disgusting. let's talk about our dreams or art or something geeze.

Pretending to be an extrovert is the most tiring thing that I do and probably have to do it again.
Being loud and whatnot is not impossible for me but if I passed the limits I looks like I want to kill myself but actually I just want to get out of the situation that I have to pretend to be extrovert.
When I reach my limit, I immediately do something that I actually interested doing like drawing or watching videos. It takes a few hours to get me fully recharge my energy but you know, drawing can takes hours so probably the best thing to do to recharge myself.

Whenever I tell someone about my personality and how I feel, they say 'don't worry, it'll go away with age'. I feel like why does it have to go away? What's so wrong in wanting to spend time alone and preffering deep talks? The whole world sees extroverts as the ideal people and introverts as a 'defect' or 'problem'. I absolutely hate that. One thing is for sure. If I wasn't educated about this, I would've seen myself as a defect too. I hope more awareness spreads among people about this and we live in a world where introversion is seen as normal.
reply

The last one I want to talk about.
It actually depends on the situation I'm in, if it wasn't important I want to be happy and relax while doing it. If I have to give a speech I want to feel nothing so that I don't stutter my words because sometimes if I over thinking what I wanted to say, I got stutter alot and after that the horrible speech I gave I probably wish that I'm not exist.

What is if I love to read my books (maybe in a park or open space, I overthink nearly every encounter I had these days and try to figure out, how thinks could went a different direction the next time I meet these ppl. And I don't dislike groups of ppl I only dislike the meaningless conversation most ppl have, so I mostly sit on the side watching and waiting for a good theme to come up.

These are all just different aspects of an introvert. An introvert can have all of these aspects to varying degrees at different times and situations. Did these researchers actually ask an introvert before they made these categories? As an introvert myself, I can tell you I definitely have all four of these types.

And when I try to explain myself, they say You have to socialize in the real world, so get out of your comfort zone.

reply

Well. I am mostly an extrovert and I do love the rain for the same reasons introverts do. It calls me down and quiet the many loud thoughts in my mind. Maybe that is down to everyone have some extrovert and some introvert traits?
reply

I fall under all 4 categories, it can be any one of them at any given time, I'm sure there's contributing factors but I'm not aware of what they are, I think it's based on a confidence level based on my outcome expectations.
