Theres an incredible connection between the mind and the body. Credits Sophie: Yoyoyo i have a question. So last semester, I took a psychology class and I was really surprised to see my teacher defending the school of thought that multiple personality disorder doesn't actually exist, but is actually either caused by psychologists who accidentally convince their patients that they have more than one personality, or the person is simply faking their symptoms. She didn't straight up say she believed that was the case, but she spent a lot of time talking about people who believe this, when our textbook said nothing of the sort, just that it's a legitimate disorder. She also elaborated that lately there are more and more diagnosed cases of multiple personality disorder, attributing this to more psychiatrists buying that multiple personality disorder is real. Can you maybe make a video explaining why some believe this isn't an actual disorder? What proof there is that is and what proof there is that it isn't? Thanks!

Hey, just going to mention, that Multiple Personality Disorder (MPD) was renamed quite a while ago to Dissosiative Identity Disorder (DID, and thus MPD is no longer a real term anymore, so perhaps calling it DID could be more benificial. One of the many reasons for the remaining was that, instead of having more personalities, DID systems seem to have 1 personality, fragmented into different compartments, or identities. This is caused by their childhood trauma experiences, that has prevented their personality to fully form at the age of 7-9, as a result of their experiences.
Hope this was helpful! :)

When my first (and only so far, but I don't really count it because it was all fake) relationship ended and turned out being a sham (I mean jokes on me for getting into an online relationship) I had actually hurt so bad that I threw up and had multiple stomach aches. I remember how physically affected I was by all of the lies, my heart hurt and it even made it hard to breathe. Now, I don't know. Should I try to love? I don't ever want to be hurt like that again but I don't want to give up. :/

The nocebo effect is something I know well. Got sick from pain meds from surgery as a kid and ever since, no matter what other meds they give to combat it, I can't take pain meds like Vicodine without getting violently sick. I just had surgery this month and had to just take Ibuprofen and not move cuz the pain meds had me puking nonstop even with the nausea patch and anti-nausea meds. The brain associations are too strong.

I had dialated cardiomyopathy and no clinical cause was ever given, only that it may have been a virus, or something I had from birth and never knew I had. After watching this I truly believe my heart was breaking after a traumatic upbringing and relationship with a narcissistic alcoholic mother and because I couldnt take anymore abuse this is how it manifested.

I wonder if betrayal of a really close friend can be traumatic? Because when it happened to me when I was 14 ) y. o I changed completely and literally became another person (shy, closed, still no friends and also introverted) from being easy-going, extraverted, funny and happy person. I'm 19 y. o and I still don't know how bring real me back.

Great video! This is really good. I have a few alter egos. I don't consider them to be multiple personality disorders. However, I'm conscious of them. This video is very informational. I see that some symptoms can cause people to go their experiences. I try to stay focused and be positive.

Multiple personality disorder Haha, that's me! but it's been re-named and is now called Dissociative Identity Disorder and _please mention that it is caused by repetitive childhood trauma next time, 0K? _ it's a real chore for me and other systems when misinformation is spread about this.

You should watch Unbelievable from Netflix, trust me its a great series about a girl who was raped, traumatized, and no one believes her story. Its really amazing, I couldnt stop watching it.
Edit: it is also a true story, it happened in real life, and I was shocked about that xD

Love psych2Go but multiple personality disorder has long since been coined dissociative identity disorder because its more fitting medically explanation wise than the name multiple personality disorder Id love to see a video on it alone, its both saddening and fascinating

Honestly this reminds me of the old nordic tales of berserkers what if it was a trance technique that physically shut off pain receptors and turned off the amygdala, meaning they could unleash more of their bodies hidden potential and power?

My safeties are not in place to limit my strength, the result is I've utterly destroyed my spine. Now I'm curious as to what you have to say about how real physical pain effects us psychologically. because wowzers am I in PAIN!

Hey, you guys said that men can never experience childbirth but you must have been forgetting trans people because there are cases of trans men getting pregnant. Many trans men have also experienced other. feminine things.

Multiple Personality Disorder has been renamed for a while now. The candid name is Dissociative Identity Disorder, since it has been tested as a dissociative disorder. I would like to see a video about DID

I have once been so stressed out mentally until I got chest pain. I felt something painful in my chest. That's when I decided to take care of my mental health. Now I don't experience chest pain at all!
reply

Hello! It would be cool if you could make a video about how mental health can affect the body, like with anxiety you can sweat, have a fast heart rate and so on!
reply

Multiple Personality disorder is the wrong term - since mid 90s its called dissociative identity disorder because it's trauma related and not a personality disorder

You should do a depersonalization and derealization. Its never talked about but people should really know to understand us better and us understand ourselves better

Spelling mistakes in this video, for example. strength.
Cardiomyopathy is NOT rare nor called broken heart syndrome. It's means a disease of the heart muscle.

I have, like, phantom needle pain from an infusion needle from a one week hospitalization and I have the biggest fear of needles, so annoying
reply

I find the title misleading. I thought they would have explained us which traumas would cause a certain physical pain ' Was still interesting tho!
reply

Shouldnt this video be about how psychological trauma affects body of that person? In my perception this title is very misleading and inaccurate.
reply

It is a known fact that one can stop their own heart from beating. This is not Mysterious thing, its a fact, one more reason why phyc is fake.
