Hello! Im a teen and Ive been having some trouble. a lot of people have been telling me I have symptoms of some kind of personality disorder and Im trying to find out which one fits my description best or if I even have a personality disorder. I have a different personality for each person I know and I switch between them frequently. Sometimes, I might run out of energy for a certain personality and end up switching to a different one (that one that I switch to is usually sarcastic and annoyed. I dont really know who I am as a person since I have so many different versions of my self. it can be super hard sometimes and often will cause me to have depressive episodes and horrible anxiety. I have had at least 20 anxiety attacks in the past 3 months and they are horrible. Maybe Im just stressed or overreacting though. I am not taking any medication that couldve caused any side effects of anxiety or depression or anything like that. Its also hard for me to be around people for long periods of time as it tires me until I am mentally exhausted and it has negative effects on my state of mind (maybe Im just really antisocial? Hahah. But if anyone knows anything that can help me please reply to this.

I relalated so much to avoidant persoanlity disorder and borderline personality disorder. I started self harming quite impulsively about 1 year ago, then I started dissociating severely and intensely fearing rejection, abandonment, and loneliness. My moods would swing from hour to hour, and swing from being intensely euphoric to depressed and angry. I also started becoming really paranoid of others, I felt that my own mother was trying to poison me intentionally. I've technically always been very shy, but in my teenage years i started to feel inadequate and inferior to others. I started to cut contact with people and I dropped out of school to do home education. I never even tried to make friends at school because of my intense feelings of inadequacy and inferiority, as well as my intense fear of rejection. Thank you so much for making this video, I really enjoyed it. Much love from australia

Just recently I was diagnosed with Histrionic Personality Disorder or HPD and I feel like its not talked about enough. It may seem like most can have it without a problem but for me it controls my life. I am constantly depressed and/or suicidal if Im ignored or not the center of attention. Its extreme I know but thats just how my mind works, it stems from childhood trauma. My emotions shift so rapidly and are hard to manage so I go to extreme lengths for relief like self harm. It makes me believe I have every disorder on the planet and Ive been misdiagnosed many times. I am awful in relationships and my romantic life is a mess. HPD is really not all games and rainbows and acting in the spotlight. Plus on top of that I have Bipolar and anxiety which makes it 1000x worse: (

Sometimes I question the sources of these videos. This is one of those. Asking do you know someone? is extremely problematic. It tends to sweep people who display some of the characteristics into the concept of disordered. Also the idea, presented as fact, that, for ex, all people w borderline pd split, is not a fact. There are a series of symptoms that people diagnosed must display only 5. Those symptoms manifest in different degrees and ways. All PDs are this way. Fact. That fact should be stated. Thats the responsible approach. Takes a few seconds and could be fit in right at the beginning when talking about diagnostic criteria in the DSM.
Point of all this comment is that this video actually adds to stigma and misinformation.

Okay as someone who is comorbid and has been diagnosed with more than 1 disorder, and someone who deals in psychology. i can tell you, your info on the avoidant PD is off, please correct it so as to not spread misinformation, many of the avoidant personality types do actually yearn and long to make friends but they are so abnormally freightened in the fear of losing that person or being rejected that they display no interest at all, even though they feel differently and it deeply hurts them for wanting to have some connection with people but at thr same time wanting to do absolutely nothing at all with people.

I have histrionic personality disorder. I finally got to the point that I am not looking to get attention anymore. I know that my disorder came from traumatic events in my life with a now ex who abused me all the time. I have two types of this disorder. Now I take care of my dog and thank God I have her. I have gotten used to be isolated. I have changed for the better and alot of things I deal with are calming. It is not so bad. I'm doingalot of things that used to be impossible for me. Step 2. 3. 4. That's how I feel. It's due to me putting effort into my own life. The best part is I took step 1.

I've suspected for a while I might have Avoidant Personality Disorder, or I might be Schzoid. Since I was always very shy and imaginative as a kid. I always knew I was not like other people. Alcohol, smoking, substances, dating, romance. It was always so alien to me. It makes me think something is so inherently worn with me. I'm broken. My home life being rather emotionally abusive and neglectful likely didn't help. I was always anxious and shy as a kid, and now I consider myself to be a womanchild. Perfectly happy by myself as a single woman. This was a big help, thanks Psych2Go!

Im just gonna put this out there, as someone who is diagnosed with multiple disorders listed here and also studying psychology to go into counseling one day. For those genuinely curious. A lot of the information in this video is vague and also inaccurate unfortunately. Its a cute video i wont discredit that, but please don't draw information about these major personality disorders from this video, it will just spread misinformation about awareness of these personality disorders as well as increase stigma and some stereotypes that are false.

Slight complaint at the start of the video (corrected shortly later oddly); It is not called the DSMV. It's just DSM (Diognostic Statistical Manual. The V stands for Volume, so you would need to add that, such as in DSMV-5 or DSMV-6, which you would really only need if you were refering to the changes between volumes or referanceing the information in a specific volume. DSMV in itself doesn't exactly makr since; Which DSM Volume is refered to?
Sorry, was just bugging me that you said DSMV then shortly corrected it to DSM.

Im certain my mom has obsessive compulsive personality disorder. One thing you didnt mention is that oftentimes, what a person with OCPD considers the right way to do a task might not actually be the most practical or even make sense. Mom has a really tedious cleaning process which usually makes her take hours over a task my dad and I complete in minutes. Of course though, she thinks shes the one doing it right, so she nags us about not doing things correctly.

Now I understand why I always want someone who is close to take care of me, also having fear of abandonment. My cycle: I make a female friend and we become close (attached) and that friend isn't showing that she cares about me, then I will push them away. On the other hand if she cares about me I will start thinking that she will leave so I will push her away before I get hurt because of all this, I no longer have close friends.

A while back I was diagnosed with schizotypal personality disorder and its really given me a ride over my lifetime. Its caused me to lose some friends, but Ive been able to manage and go on with my life. Nowadays I see my eccentricities as apart of who I am and cause of this acceptance I will often just say I have a schizotypal personality bc I dont really see it as a disorder.

We had to get this book for 6th or 7th grade called Walk Two Moons, and me being an avid reader, finished it before school even started. If you ask me one of the main characters, Pheobe, (idk if i got that right, sorry) fits this personality type perfectly. If anyone has read that book, please tell me what you think! I'd love to hear your thoughts! :DD

I was diagnosed with personality disorder, NOS (not otherwise specified. I wasn't explained much about it and my psychiatrist hasn't really touched on it since my diagnosis when treating my other diagnoses. I should probably do some research on it, but I was hoping for it to be in this video.

The differentiation between obsessive compulsive personality disorder and obsessive compulsive disorder is such an important one! Far too often people say something is ocd when they actually mean obsessive compulsive personality disorder. Thank you for getting this right!

Some of this incorrect
Like even the thumbnail is insensitive and inaccurate I hate when people show someone with npd and just slap a crown over their head I think you should study more and remake this video I usually love your vids but this one comes off as ignorant

Avoidant personality disorder sounds exactly like me except I have a few friends. Is it possible to have friends while suffering from it? They all approached me first and kind of brought me into the friend group but if it comes to making new friends I wouldn't be able to

Being paranoid of everything is scary as hell, you walk down the hallways of your house and it feels like someone is watching you or walking behind you. It's extremely scary when you're alone or it's night time ( T - T )

I know someone with ASPD! They're genuinely one of the nicest person I've ever met, even from their lack of empathy, theyve done EVERYTHING for their kid to make sure they don't get trauma like them: ] Im so proud of them

Does anyone else watch this and think to themselves I can identify with every single one of these conditions even though its completely irrational? Im very confused personally.
reply

One of the main reason the doctor called me a schizotypal was because I encountered a skinwalker and he didn't believe me.
I guess it's also because I act weird too though.
