7 Warning Signs of Emotional Abuse

7 Warning Signs of Emotional Abuse

video description

Rating: 4.0; Vote: 1
Emotional abuse is defined as the repeated degrading of another persons mental health and well-being through nonphysical actions. Even if a family member, friend, or romantic partner doesnt get physically violent with you, they could still be emotionally abusing you. Emotional abuse, verbal abuse and psychological abuse are also harder to spot than physical abuse because the signs are generally less obvious than physical evidence of abuse. However, being in an emotionally abusive relationship can cause low self-esteem, PTSD, depression and other mental health problems. Knowing the signs is the first step to helping yourself or someone else who finds themselves in an abusive relationship So, we've made this video to help you identify the warning signs before it's too late. We also made a video on gaslighting, which is also a form of abuse if you want to check that out too

MY BOARDING FREIND ALSO EMOTIONALLY ABUSED ME LIKE HE MAKE ME FEEL LIKE IM NOT WORTH ANYTHING ONE TIME I WAS JUST SITTING AT GARDEN AND HE CAME TO ME AND SAID YOU FKING LOOSER U CAN NEVER BE A ACTOR JUST LOOK AT YOUR FKING FACE A BLACK GORILLA IS EVEN BETTER THAN U EVEN THOUGH HE NEVER STUDYS AND ALWAYS ASK ME FOR NOTES AND I DIDNT hesitate TO GIVE HIM AND WHEN HE DIDNT SCORE GOOD MARKS and his parents scold it for it he then blamed me that I did not help him in study at all and did not give him any notes
Like bro what I helped him all the year and at the end he just stabbed my back but I didn't tell anything
He always emotionally abused me all the time
He say words that would made me cry and it made him happy seeing me cry like he tells yeah look at that MOTHERFKING FACE AND THEN HE WOULD SAY MORE HURTFUL THINGS AND THAT WOULD MAKE ME CRY EVEN MORE
EVEN ONE TIME I TRIED TO COMMIT SUCIDE BUT THEN I THINKED ABOUT MY FATHERS DREAM THEN it stop me from committing sucide
AND that boarding freind also tell YO LOOK AT YOUR MOTHERFKING DAD A FAT SHIT AND I REGRET THAT I DIDNT TELL DAD ANYTHING ABOUT it THAT HE EMOTIONALLY ABUSED ME BECUASE WHEN WE FIRST MET i thougth he was good and I told him my family problems beucas ei though he was my closet friend but I was wrong he used those words against me I regret that he told my dad like that becuase I was weak why much and he looked like a body builder and one time I couldn't hold the pain anymore that he emotionally abuses me and I told my dad everyting about me then he took actions next he came to boarding school to visit me he tell the boy himself gently that
PLEASE DO NOT DO THESES THINGS HOW WORULD YOU FEEL IF HE DID THOSE THIGNS TO YOU
And the big make the face like he didn't care at all
And when my dad left from he boarding hostel
The boy then threatened and told me Warn your dad or else your dad and will, be in the grave
I regret why I couldn't tell anything
How he could tell my dad like that then next day I tod my dad everything thst happend when he left
But my dad got so much fed up he didn't tell anything
On my last day at boarding school the boy just came to me in the morning and just smoked my face into the wall my nose was bleeding but I didn't tell anything and then he started to beat me it was my last day at school then he left I cried so much that I was hoping that I die then my father came came pick me up and I didn't tell anything
I WAS TORTURED BY THAT BOY (MY BOARDING FRIEND) FOR STRAIGHT 4 YEARS BY EMOTIONALLY ABUSED
AND WHEN I AM WRITING THIS COMMENT IT JUAT GIVE ME THE FLASHBACK AND NOW MY BLOOD STARTA BOILING AND I HOPE IF I EVER FIND HIM I WOULD GIVE HIM THE MOST PAINFUL DEATH IN THE WORLD

B. BE THE WORLD BILLIONAIRE
I WOULD DEFINITELY CHOOSE OPTION A

Watching this video helped me realize how kind of person my mother really is. She treated me as from those signs and it took a obvious effect on me. Back then, I used to be so happy, confident and carefree until my mom did things to break me. At times, she would publicly humiliate me if I made a simple mistake and done on multiple occasions. There was one where I remember visibly and just the memory of it gives me anxiety attacks. It was at a Costco and I needed to order a pizza by myself. However, I was a fairly shy kid (And still am, but Im working on to break that) and obviously, I begged my mom to at least company me through the order. She refused and it was not like she was busy doing something, just texting. So, I just decided to suck it up and order the pizza. The pizza took longer than expected and I just waited like 20 or 30 minutes for it. This pissed her off that when I returned to the car, she proceeded to just loudly berate me in front of shoppers. I just stood there frozen in place, tears forming in my eyes. I was only 11 at the time. Other things she do was to always criticize me on what I wore, ate, act, etc etc. My mom has this medieval opinion of how women should act and dress, she would get appalled if a girl looked happy wearing boy clothes. She would also Intimidate me whenever I think of something I shouldnt do (Like express myself genuinely) and make me think that Ive done something terrible. Her abuse took a major tool on me that Im realizing that I could have undiagnosed anxiety and Im working on getting therapy for it. Im just worried about how my mom would handle hearing this, she thinks therapy is for crazy people which is funny because my nonverbal brother takes therapy. Sorry, if I turned this comment into a full blown rant. Im just not doing great at the moment and I hope yall understand

My situation was complex. Had a 4 year relationship (got engaged too) which seemed great. No red flags like this to speak of. But I certainly got complacent and lazy. Then three months after the engagement I was hit with an ultimatum about my driving after a long road trip and two weeks later after a night out where I felt her distancing and reached out to grab her hand when she was dismissively walking faster than me and she revulsed, she gave me a 21-bullet-point screed of perceived deficiencies which she characterized as boundaries but most of which were orders and ultimatums. Things like giving her authority to determine what I can keep from my storage unit, and reading her mind to know when she doesn't want to listen to what I'm saying and thus self-censor me, but to provide emotional support to her (as if I hadn't been. One was a boundary though. an accusation of verbal, emotional, and physical abuse. Now it's he-said she-said but I do not believe I was abusive. I shouldn't have grabbed her hand to slow her down while walking, but I felt her resentment towards me in that moment and wanted to be holding hands walking aside each other. I can see her perspective but I think it was an overreaction and that by that time she was looking for reasons to dump me because she just wasn't attracted to me anymore. And I never verbally or emotional abused her, but certainly she doesn't feel that way and it's gut-wrenching to try to stand in her shoes knowing that. I come here to try to learn more about myself to see if I was indeed worse than I thought, but I can't help but to see that she was exhibiting several abusive symptoms towards me. She kept her negative feelings bottled up until the end. And I think we both were unaware of our faulty behavior, letting ego blind us.

My way of emotional abuse is a bit confusing to me. I am really not sure what I have. I was bullied a lot because of my weight when I was a kid, my parents would let their anger out on me when they were angry with each other, and that would happen a lot. I was not physically hurt too much, but yelled at I was and I know it messed me up as I got older. I cry a lot and I work for someone who always sees me as someone who doesn't do anything. She gets mad and starts yelling at me for a simple mistake and it makes me feel like I am useless. I guess whenever I try to be myself, someone has to put me down by yelling at me for making a mistake or making me feel like I am not special. I am a really shy person and I guess that is because of all the times people would treat me the same way. I guess they take advantage of me. Even adults, which I never understood why they would do that. Teachers would mostly take advantage me of when I was younger. How I am now, I know it is because of all the times someone has treated me in a way as if I am not a good person, a good employee, or they just dont care for me. And of course, you wont like it when someone tells you that you are not doing a good job. I am in my early thirties now and I still need a lot of help with dealing with people that way because i work around them almost everyday and they keep doing the same thing over and over to me. I want help and I want to stop feeling like it is all my fault when deep down I know its not. I want to stop thinking about myself as a loser. I want to stop crying whenever I feel down when I dont make them happy. I know I dont have to listen to what others say, but at times it is hard. I sometimes dont know what to do.

Okay, this might be long but honestly Im blind, could someone please read through this to see if this is actually emotion abuse. or maybe Im just overreacting?
So, I dont know if my mom knows or not, but she can make me really upset sometimes. Shell walk in while Im changing even though I ask her not to, randomly start cuddling me when Im trying to sleep, even though I tell her to get off she refuses, and only leaves when I have to fight her off. Then she yells at me after that and starts murmuring crap about me to my dog. Shell say something, and then if I correct her on it, shell say she said what I corrected her with, and then say something like, whatever, because your always right after she gets sick of it. Not to mention, not sure if any of you have heard of it, but Ive been in a sport called jiu jitsu since I was 5, im annoyed because Ive been asking her to let me quit for years and she refuses to let me, she says things like youll regret it or, this again? She only sees my mistakes. Its to the point when she starts lecturing me I just dont listen anymore, this is also why I get yelled at for not paying attention and she has to repeat herself, my grandpa calls me lazy because I play video games, even though I train 4 days a week. Then after she gets mad, she acts like nothing ever happened which infuriates me even more. Not to mention how fast she can go from nice to yelling. She often cussed at me, or other cars when their driving too slow, so. is this emotional abuse?

3: 36 to a T
He speaks two languages more than two but his natural language is Polish when hes with his friends Im just sitting there and he used to say that it was because I didnt talk. I didnt talk to speak a different language that I dont speak.
And then, if youve checked my phone and make me feel like shit about having my own friends, but when I talk to yours
So I just sit on my phone. at least now when we leave he doesnt go on about. Why arent you talking to my friends
Why arent you speaking in English so that I can understand anything?
But if I am near my mom and my family and I want to talk to them and stuff, its not like he doesnt understand he speaks English
So youre at least more comfortable than I am right but yet I dont do that. He talks to my mom he talks to my family.
its funny because it doesnt really matter if its my family or his friends either. I literally just walk away at this point I remove myself straight up. I dont care its like OK youre in the room with them great you talk to them I dont want to because I feel like any time I start talking you take that as a key to start talking to and Im gonna get mad at that because Im not gonna fight to talk. Remind me everything of my grandfather I was never allowed to be a part of the conversation when I was a child
And Im not fighting to be a part of the conversation as an adult if somebody gives a shit theyll listen I dont have to fight constantly to say a word

Yeah, I stay home but thats because he ask that of me
And I try to work still I try to do my own thing still, but I cannot work and be on the phone all the time especially not if I need my phone for work
He made it feel almost impossible for me to work so I stopped now I dont get my nails done
And I am a housekeeper, no money
I want a forever on call driver
Siri wont even help me do the dishes
Is the house and clean? I cant think straight I cant do my work I cant I cant so I cant do my homework. If the house is not clean everything he comes home he thinks things out of the place every morning he leaves he puts things out of the place
I told him I have OCD he says he knows when he shows me the link here
Tell me about bad he feels like how do you think I feel he literally repeats my words to me he tells me the only reason that he feel like he cant say anything and Im like are you kidding me right now?

reply

3: 15 I find myself subconsciously rejecting my partner, because in the past, my partner has literally made me choose them over my family
I remember we didnt see Ida, I on some thing and it resulted in me breaking down. I mean hes a guy just broke down to, but he was the one that had the emotional control I couldnt even go for a walk.
Thats a coping mechanism for me, he cut me off from my healthy coping mechanisms via fear
And then said it was because he was worried about me. I didnt wanna have to be scared about. Im gonna get hurt outside.
I was trained in taekwondo, and I was born, knowing how to whip someones ass if I need to
When I was in school, I took all the beatings so that I can build stamina
I made a choice to develop a hard exterior so that if somebody hit me I wouldnt feel it so I wont have enough time to hit them back
Yeah, I was not allowed to go for a walk because he was upset
I wasnt allowed to go get my things because he was upset

Men are more innately inclined towards physical aggression. However, women are innately inclined towards passive aggression, such as destroying a persons life socially through lies and countless other ways. Both of these forms of aggression are equally destructive, but women dont see this.
In fact, I personally think passive aggression is way more harmful than active aggression. I boxed throughout my life, and I would much rather walk around with a black eye for a month a thousand times more than have a woman cause me psychological pain that lasts for years, and social/economic struggles from the lies she spread. The passive aggression of women can mess with your head for years.
Women need to wake up and realize that they are clearly as capable of evil as men are, without a doubt. These modern day feminists arent creating equality; they are doing the opposite. They are making the problem worse.

Like after you come home after working a 14 hour day and your wife is mad at you because your too tired to go to a family function, says you dont do anything to support your family. thats when what she calls abuse comes out of me. not saying I was right. I was wrong for responding in the verbally abusive words, I think some relationships just are toxic. losing respect on both sides, I hated the divorce. but I think we both are happier now. I hope she has the best life now. we both love our children and grandchildren, we only talk at family functions now and are always cordial, I have moved on and I am happy now. sometimes when your in a relationship you dont realize how toxic it has become until your out.

But like, what if I try to say that I am uncomfortable using a certain nickname in public like if I call you some thing in private dont refer to yourself as that in public in front of people like my mom
Because it makes you feel good about yourself it doesnt make me feel good about myself thats the name I gave you to call you in private
I dont want other people seeing that face from me. I shouldnt have to be sorry about that.
And yes, it makes me angry and then it puts me in a space where I feel like a cactus. I feel isolated because Ive spoken about this, and it doesnt matter.

My home life has been absolutely horrible since i was a kid and I really just assumed it was normal and that I was being too sensitive, but I realise now that no one should go through what I'm going through, and I hope that I can get far away from my family the moment I get a chance to. I struggle with a shit ton of stress and suicidal thoughts a lot, and I just feel kinda helpless in my situation. I hope you all find happiness in your lives, and I hope I do too.

I was an emotional abuser. I never realised it completely till I found this video. I let him go to have a peaceful life. I always cared for him and loved him. But on the other side I was abusive. I always fought with him for silly things. The fact is I never understood him. I always felt like he never loved me and that is the reason I fought with him. Am working on myself now. I need be a better person. Caring, loving, respecting person.
reply

It's funny that a lot of people think that it only occurs during romantic relationships when truly, it can occur in family as well. A lot of outcomes of emotional abuse are:
-Anger issues
-Major emotional periods
-The more likeliness to cry.
and so much more.
I just thought maybe sharing this would help some people like me recognize these issues, and hopefully get a chance to get the help they need, unlike me.

My mom calls me fat, constantly yells at me, I get in trouble no matter what I do, My moms always cursing at me, makes me feel bad, lies about us, purpously tells others bad things about me when she knows i can hear her, and just really cruel. One time i didnt fold my clothes so she refused to wash my clothes. My sister has teribble ADHD and once cut herself many times. I have had terrible suicidal thoughts.

I have a sbiling keeps saying I'm an idiot and looking down on me like I'm nothing, idk he is a narcissist and insecure, making fun of my breakdown, by mimicing my hysterical laugh and hurting myself, without any witness. whenever I tell to my parents. They will only say just ignore it or let him be or you're both siblings why would you hate each other? people gaslight me, because I wanna move out.
reply

This video is confirmation my sister has been emotionally abusive my wake up moment was this past week when she told people I was verbally abusive when asking if we were going to be a family or not to our family group text. This after she went a week of no word. I doubted myself so asked my dad am I like that. He said no but I question myself now
reply

I remember this one time I was trying to talk to him about my feelings, and he literally just breaks down and starts crying and then I felt like it was just flipped on me and then after that, I stopped being able to feel anything
Hey, Siri may have a conversation about my feelings without making it about his feelings

reply

This is a very one sided explanation of emotional abuse. It teaches to notice these signs and avoid them. Everything happens for a reason. Maybe try to find out why they are acting in these certain ways. People always look for warning signs but fail to care why people do or say things.
reply

Literally I'm sitting in my room crying because I'm just trying to be a kid I was using a Mini blender and my mom saw me come in with it and started yelling at me and hit me in the head twice and she get made for the littlest of thing but then she's letting me have fun the next day
reply

i was mentally abused by my sister. i dont know where to go. we are on the same roof and even if i tell my parents this they are just gonna ignore it. i want to go somewhere far from them but im not in the right age tho i have a job. i just want a quiet place for me and my soul.
reply

you try and ignore it but it will eat you alive. it ate me and my gramma alive, I dont really fight back anymore. Its 2023, a new year. Imma fight back harder then I ever have, I have confidence. Wish me luck. I promise to update.
reply

I don't like how many videos like this always paint the abuser as a man I appreciate the neutrality of it and it makes it alot easier (as a man to not have to feel like I'm being attacked when I'm just trying to better myself)
reply

my roommate pretends to make me his friend because he only wants me to be his servant at his disposal. I have felt enough toxicity from our interactions, and wish to free myself from him as quickly as possible.
