I'm having trouble figuring out if I had ADHD or ADD. some of the things that you mention in some of your videos describe me while some others don't. I have trouble focusing and I'm constantly daydreaming about something or just can't focus at all in general. I find it very annoying because it's hard for me to get certain task or even my chores finished. I'm easily distracted and very inattentive and can get bored very easily. while I do catch myself avoiding things that require a lot of work and attention, I always push it to the side and never get it done. This video really helped and gave me a better understanding of what I may or may not have.

I think I resonate with this a lot being Im not actually diagnosed with ADD Ive always just said I had it because of my tendencies. Even at work I find it hard to stay on track I have to often take brakes and then remind myself to get back on track with the task on hand that aside I also get overwhelmed when seeing lots of tasks at once and with a desk job as mine I tend to have to break it down into sections so that my anxiety doesnt kick in making it almost impossible to focus at all. Its not easy

I don't know if this is a thing but when I'm in unfamiliar settings dealing with new situations (eg at work) I create a performative routine that I can play out to handle several situations so I don't have to mentally. Be present. Like I'm sitting on the back burner just talking shit that fits the situation and honestly. Its done me well so far. My mind wanders. Freaking endlessly and it is annoying but sometimes task at hand isn't stimulating enough to keep my attention and I get angry at it.

So during my freshman year of high school, I was taking a final exam, and was unable to finish the exam because I HAD A SONG STUCK IN MY HEAD.
It was a song I had recently discovered and was in love with, and it was so distracting that I wasn't able to concentrate on my exam and ended up not completing it.
(I did finish about 80% of the exam and luckily passed, but I was rather anxious about what my score would be with the exam incomplete)

Question;
Can you remember routine task if your life is on the line? I notice I have better ability to focus when I'm at work; granted I still slip a lot and do things out of order etc, but at work is the only time I remember to do certain routines every day. Why? Because if I don't, I can get fired I always wondered if someone with ADHD/ADD can be able to focus with such a motivator. Otherwise I seem to match the symptoms a lot.

Thank you for shedding some light on ADD. We often speak of the H, but having being diagnosed with ADD when I was young, it's being incredibly difficult. I wouldn't have made it to university without meds, and I often have to kick myself in the butt to make sure I do stuff like chores, studies and even really personal projets. I almost always feel bored and demotivated. It sucks.

Im pretty much sure that I show symptoms of AD(H)D or Autism, to the point where it is really affecting my everyday life. I just wanted to know, what is the best option for me to convince my parents going to a doctor and getting myself diagnosed / treatment? I fear that they will react like You just want to justify your laziness or something like that: (

I ve been struggling with everything you mentioned in the video my whole life, and I never have a single appointment with a professional. It's been hardtocontrol myself an also to accept me. I used to thing that I was the worst person in the world, I still think that a little bit, but less than before.

You forget to proof read your email. - This is an example of one of the many things that can go wrong in a professional career when you suffer from attention deficit. Ive lost, so far, one job because of this. And as Im still battling to get diagnosed, it may happen again.

does anyone know a way to accurately diagnose ADHD or ADD without going to a hospital or something to do so? Since it's kinda a ME problem, I don't want my parents to worry or pay for the fees that will come along the check up, even if it's a false worry that I have: (

I am totally a mix. I have my hyper moments and my inattentive moments. It has been a roller coaster in my relationship as I was 'tested' and told I didnt have ADD or ADHD when I was a kid. I totally have it although I have not been diagnosed with it still.

Psilocybin saved my life. I was addicted to heroin for 15 years and after Psilocybin treatment I will be 3 years clean in September. I have zero cravings. This is something that truly needs to be more broadly used in addiction treatment.

29 years it took me to learn I have ADD. Figured it out through memes.
Just last week I met a woman who instantly recognised it in me. She was a former teacher. None of MY teachers have ever noticed anything. They just scolded me.

may accidently miss entire sections of a quiz I HAVE LITERALLY DONE THAT BEFORE AND I'M IN COLLEGE! The little things do not go away with age or experience. But having a habit of double or triple checking things has been beneficial.

Got distracted watching this and started daydreaming, then I realised I was doing it so I started doing something else to refocus myself, oddly enough whilst doing something else I was able to keep my attention focused on the video

Diagnosed 31 years ago with ADHD, my inability to maintain an interest in things comes and goes as often as my hyper moods. It's nice to know there are different categories and that im not just malfunctioning as an adult.

As an adult recently diagnosed with ADHD i genuinely never believed that I could actually have ADHD, or more accurately, ADD. But. I can say that up until this point, it has ruined my life and made me absolutely miserable.

Haha, I used to do that. What about hyper-focusing on like one thing for way too long? Also, I finally got diagnosed with ADD as an adult and damn I wished I had done it when I was a kid ugh

thats me tho, I was the textbook example of an ADD child. I'd like to believe I have it under control now, as I am one of the best performing students in my college class.
