May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and we wanted to save the most intentional video for last. Mental Health is NOT nothing, but EVERYTHING. Mental wellbeing affects all areas of our lives, from productivity to feeling fulfilled to finding happy relationships. When mental health is ignored, we lose touch with what's really important and end up in places we don't want to be

I told my mom about my mental health 2 days ago. When I was telling her about my emotions, she compared me with others. She told my cousin has gone through many problems, nothing happened to her. She compared me with my aunts and uncles also. She told nothing happened to me. It's my imagination. I told her I can't sleep at night. She told me these all things are happening for phone. I'm talking like a fool. I look all good. She asked me if I was watching about mental health in internet. But if I told her that I got to know about this from internet then she won't let me touch my phone. I told I read about it in my book and teachers also told about mental health. But I got all the information from internet. Without those sources I couldn't even know what was going on. She told look at me. Nothing happened to me. I don't think about it. She also told that I have a new chapter ahead my career why i'm thinking about these all. I shouldn't think about these matters. Just ignore it. Dont talk like a fool. But I told her these thoughts keep coming in my mind. She laughed also.
It was really tough to even start this conversation. It felt like I was struggling with my inner self. It took a long time. When I finally started the conversation I broke down. I stared crying. It really took a lot of courage. She didn't understand a bit. I know nobody talks about mental health openly and many people doesn't know about it. It is too stigmatized. I wish people could care about mental health. After opening up to her I felt misunderstood. I felt I shouldn't talk about my mental health with her. But it really hurts she didn't try to understand. I didn't tell about it since last year as I thought it will be okay. But this year, it was getting worse than last year.
I want to go to any mental health professional near me. But mom didn't understand anything.

I do know for a fact that mental health is not nothing and for me at least, it is even more important than physical health. The problem is that different situations in our lives often force us to ignore it. Your boss will definitely let you take a few days off if you've broken your leg because it is impossible to function in almost any job like that. But for mental health, this is not true. No matter how much you might be suffering inside, tomorrow, you'll have to go to work, to school and just keep studying as if nothing is happening. Much like a machine. Consume some electricity and just work. As inhumane as it might be, these situations TEACH us that mental health is not important

I applied back to Kroger and did a interview, I was asked and reassured what hours I wanted before signing additional paperwork, on top of that next said wait for a email for background check/orientation, also I told them how I left the company even though they didn't ask, to be transparent and honest with them hoping a 2nd chance, I was re-signed/fired in 2010 because I scanned Kroger card multiple times and didn't use it for myself, I said thank you to the HR lady hour after I got home in email, the one time I was supposed to do the wrong thing and lie, I got nothing great. Even though they said I got orientation email coming in? I'm just destined for failure

It just breaks my heart to hear this kind of stuff about how people even in today's era still tend to brush off mental health while caring oh so much more about physical well-being, I think it has to do with how dealing with mental health tends to feel like a different/unique experience of every person and talking about one's mental health is like a very personal topic. Imo this is also something important that should be taught early on in school especially to help people copy with mental health-issues from a very young age and maybe even help them open up about it. Mental illnesses are to be treated just as real and serious as physical illnesses.

Wait- So. My bottling up of emotions, like anger was, and sadness. Is bad? Why? Like. If they're out of the way, isn't that better for the people around me? Cuz like, I'm a pretty chill guy, and sometimes when I do get angry I either exercise and leave the situation, or force myself to stop being irrationally angry, and think logically. Cuz. Lets be honest. Most emotions are illogical. I do enjoy ones like joy, and love, but even then those emotions just blind you from reality most times. I would rather live in the real world, and just force myself to become the best I can be. All the way to the top.

I used to write in a diary, but my mom forcefully read it. And laughed about it like all those feelings were nothing. I hardly cry infront of her. But I couldn't hold it, I begged her to not read it and she said that if I'm so reluctant about it, it must mean I'm hiding something, she said she'll read it again
It's been about 3 months now, I've stopped writing.
I have tried to, but I just can't anymore.
And because of that, I've gotten worse lately. If I evn try to talk about the topic, she'll scream at me

If you ignore your mental health, you might just not be happy anymore and that leads you to some thoughts that may be like why do I exist or something like that. Sometimes, when your mental health isnt good, it will affect your physical health as well. You may just have thoughts about harming yourself because of how horrible your mental health is. Same goes with your physical health. If you dont stay fit, you might be insecure of your body and affect your mental health. (Remember, all bodies are beautiful

express your emotions to someone you trust
The few people I'm closest to trusting also happen to be the same exact people that look at what I'm feeling, and instead of trying to help, they just tell me why I'm wrong. Why I shouldn't feel what I'm feeling, and why I need to toughen up and deal with it. Those people. are my parents. And my siblings. And the majority of my extended family. My own family, the few people I should trust the most, end up being the people I trust the LEAST.

I noticed that it is easy to forget about your mental health when you're feeling fine for a while. But in those times too, it is important to keep paying attention to it. Learn to recognize the triggers that could deplete your mental health and when things become too much (for me, that is when I start longing for a getaway break, for example. Also, be sure to have a 'toolbox' with ways to improve your mental health, like meditation, writing, going for walks in nature etc.

Why is it so hard to tell people about how I feel, I could barely share what I truly feel, want and am to people. To be really true it feels like nobody knows me truly, nor my mom, its suffocating too, It feels hard to share my sorrow to other people, I think most of my life I spent in depression and yearning for comfort and trust, I am soon going to be 20, Hope God has better plan for me.

I brushed off my mental health up until May of last year when I had come real close to taking my own life. Restart to someone who I trusted and thanks to her I was able to get myself some therapy. Got off it for a little bit back in August but just recently had to start it up again and Im going to be keeping it for as long as I can.

Growing up in the 80's and 90's If I learned anything from my parents generation is that if you're not doing back breaking, exhausting work, then you're called lazy. You need a man's job like construction, or a lumberjack. I can't say I had a hard day of fighting anxiety and depression cause it's lazy and I'm faking it.

Right now my mental health, has been really bad, and my anxiety has been super bad. Does anyone know anything that might help? I have specific anxiety for nausea/vomiting but my anxiety symptoms are feeling cold, shaking and nausea. :( Please reply if you have any ideas on how to get better! It would help so much!

This makes me think of in corpore sano, a song by serbian singer Konstrakta who openly talks - among other things - about how we don't pay enough care to mental health while physical health and beauty is constantly put forward in our society. It's completely hypnotic, I advise y'all check it out with the lyrics

When you love someone and that person going out to see a concert with another girl, when the gf said that it doesnt look going out with one girl at night and your bf said it doesnt look odd when you trust me. Isnt it a mental depression? I tried to make him understand but he dont wanna take it. Am I wrong! .

Emotions are like the rain. If it rains too much, the area floods, and you struggle to survive in the new sea. If it doesn't rain enough, the area dries up, and transforms into a desert, hot with the burning feeling of nothingness; dry of emotions. The only way to thrive is for there to be a balance.

I recently quit my job. Staying home and not having something to do is making me depressed. Ive never had to deal with this before. I try to do things like cook or read but when I get that feeling or I start to feel sad it spreads like wild fire and I can not come out of it. Its a struggle.
reply

it takes so much courage for me to talk about my mental struggles to others. i told my mum one day and she called me sensitive, and because i'm overweight, she told me go lose weight so you don't think about all of this. I dont want to tell my friends because i dont want to risk losing them.

This is true. I had this project where other people were picking topics like ' 3d bio printing ', ' evironment ' but i choose the topic physiology + mental health becaus wife Benn through breakdown, meltdowns and this guy laughed at me for taking that topic.

Every day I keep thinking I wanna die alot of times, I'm so tired of life. it's boring and repetitive and predictable. I just want everything to stop. I want to disappear like dust or snow in the air. No one helps me I am so sad and lonely
reply

When family dont understand, or want to understand, its just better to pretend everything is fine. However, then the blame you for all the struggles you are going through. Im at a loss. Its getting worse the older I get.

I don't feel light hearted after talking to anyone about my thoughts, everytime I open my mouth, I dump my anger on the opposite ones. That is why I don't initiate a conversation with anybody.
