SELF-CHECK: What Your Social Media Habits Say About You?

video description

Rating: 4.0; Vote: 1
Personality and Social Psychology Bulletin looked at four studies that examine the interface between how individuals network their friendships and their attachment styles. Their findings? Our social network behavior is closely connected to our attachment style. Considering our attachment style can influence how we pick our partners, how we develop friendships, and how we end them, its best to look at our social media habits now, all in an effort to see what it says about our attachment style, and more importantly, what it says about us. Did you know that how you text says a lot about your personality? Watch the video here

I feel ashamed. Today at work was awful. I was taken to my supervisor's office with her and a high-ranking chef. They (or mostly the chef) told me that I've been touching my coworkers too much. Not THAT type of touch, of course not! Just casual ones, like on arms or shoulders. I was always very outgoing at work. When I asked her if anyone reported a complaint, she said it didn't matter. She told me that we need the workers to be comfortable in a good work environment, and that I pretty much shouldn't talk about anything other than work and school (I work at a university's catering service. She told me I shouldn't tell my stories because they may be inappropriate to my coworkers. Now yeah, I pretty much don't have a filter, and sometimes I guess I do say inappropriate stuff at work, but not horribly nor intentionally. I like to joke around and have fun with my coworkers, but I guess it isn't like that after all (more or less. I really didn't get specific information from the chef about what and who. She understands and likes that I'm outgoing, but she made it sound risky and in need of limits, for good behavior and my coworkers' sake. And again, that I shouldn't touch my coworkers (shoulders or arms) without their consent. But seriously, I'm not a creep! I don't randomly hug people or anything like that. I didn't mean to be so handsy (I say loosely. I'm so embarrassed about the office lecture. I am not like Biden at all. I'm really not. Have I really gone that far at work? I already hate being on the spectrum, and sometimes I actually hate myself. I wish I could work somewhere, not only for my coworkers' sake (should that presumption be true) and myself, because I'm so ashamed.

This topic is interesting, but I think it still needs more research.
For example, No. 3 & 4 seem to contradict each other. And for me, not using filters for my photos or images is because I don't need them. I just love my photos and images as original as possible.
No. 7, I think each person has their own reasons about why they follow & then unfollow. In Twitter, for example, there's a thing called folback where someone follows a person because they are hoping the one they followed will follow them back, & when that didn't happen, they will unfollow. It's social media after all. It pretty much has some difference with how things work offline.
For no. 8, isn't everybody started as strangers to know each other? How can you expand your social circle if you just hang out with the same people over & over again? And how about celebrities, they are also counted as strangers, right?
As for no. 10, I also often did this because I just feel the things I post just don't need any tags. Like I just put it there as my own personal Portfolio (it's free after all! Why don't use it like that. It's ME who is using social media & take on advantage of them, not vice versa.
However, thanks for the video!

Me who doesn't take picture of myself on social media.
Instead, I posted pictures of foods I cooked instead or my memories of going a trip Muahahahahah.
Look how mysterious(actually lazy) I am, because I'm insecure with myself on a post. But i don't mind if my friends posted my pictures.
Welp although im extrovert, I just don't like showing my face on my timeline.
Nevertheless, I love making fake accounts to become friends with online friends. Cuz why not? I don't show my face at all. Just use anime picture, many people wants to become friends with me

Psych2Go HEYY! Love the video! Its so understandable and made me fell in love with psychology!
I do have one suggestion, do you think you could do these suggestions (you dont have to do all of them)
1. Mesaphonja and how to deal with it
2. How to tell your therapist that you might have a mental illness
3. What to do if you get rejected
4. What your personality is like based off what is in your photo album

I feel like I'm in a constant loop. Stuck out for 9 months but the glue spread further. Now I'm partly there but I don't want to waste my breath on the struggle.
Got a bunch of random ideas.

Balloons writhed through doors outside. Being vaccinated meant my job more soothing from watching them drift steadily to the afternoon sky.

I used to use a lot of filters on my photos because I was extremely insecure and had very low self esteem as well. I still do struggle with those things, but I try to use filters that don't really change my face a lot. I really only post pictures of my face because I'm extremely insecure about my body and I feel really uncomfortable posting pics with my body in them

Post brighter photos of my furbaby. Or of my mom and I. Use social media to keep up on my friends in other states or countries. Text and talk to my bestie everyday. Otherwise its just a app that i use to time my seizures, sleep watch app, a journal app, YT for this and music, and an app to vid chat with my therapist xD aint got much.

Well, according to those studies, I'm chronically depressed since before social media became a thing (or those filters, that I find just ridicule, were invented) as any non-joke picture was intentionaly poor lit, untreated and I care so much about interacting that I quited the stuff almost a decade ago and never looked back.

I may have attachment anxiety but I don't associate myself with photos; I don't want to put my true face out there as people could trace them and worse.
Also I don't usually post hate comments unless it's absolutely necessary. Like calling someone out.

reply

I disagree with the idea of me being depressed because I don't use filters, if hardly at all. If anything, I usually choose not to do so simply because I just can't be bothered to put in that extra effort, and realism is more of my cup of tea.

i have a quick question: im not a teen yet but i already have shown signs of depression and nobody has noticed or cared, is there anyone i could talk to? ive also started hiding from everyone and im trying to stop but ive started self-harm
reply

Tbh I dont post anything on social media because I just dont trust social media. I mainly just use it to keep in touch with my family members who arent in my state
But the video was great, I feel well informed now

Social media have the ability to keep up with your friendships. As scary as it sounds, by monitoring your statuses, relationships and activities updates, media applications can predict who your close friends are.
reply

I don't think we can ever really rule out the idea that our social media personalities is an extension of ourselves. I mean, when you really think about it, you can not give what you don't have.
reply

no more tells you about me is that I like to stay connected with people who matter to me, many of them are friends and family members I have not seen in several years.
reply

I just delete photos without likes because it looks ugly on my feed. And why do I gotta ne depressed because I don't use filters? I just like the original better
reply

Gets upset and worry if something i put my heart on into posting doesn't get enough attention as i wanted, either its due to validation seeking or social anxiety
reply

How do i get the courage to get help from someone? I am very introverted, and this comment took me 2 weeks to mentally prepare for, so it is hard to go get help.
reply

I just post some memes and look for the likes one or two time every month, have a group of friends with the Lego star wars pfps, and uhhhhh

i don't use Social media. i don't care enough about what other people are trying to make me think of them on social media.

reply

I usually dont post that much. I have lost count of how many weeks it has been since those two posts named oh no and this is bad had been posted.
reply

i disagree with the not using filters one. I just simply don't feel the need to make things look like they aren't. i like being real with myself
