Depression is a common mental health condition that affects millions of people worldwide. Unfortunately, due to the stigma surrounding mental illness, many people still misunderstand the true nature of depression and its impact on individuals. One of the most common misconceptions is that depression is simply a form of laziness. This is a harmful and inaccurate assumption that can lead to individuals with depression feeling misunderstood, isolated, and unsupported. In reality, depression is a complex illness with a range of physical, emotional, and cognitive symptoms that can make even the simplest of tasks feel overwhelming. In this video, we'll explore why depression is not the same as laziness, and why understanding this distinction is crucial to supporting those who are struggling with this condition. Reminder &

Hey, can you do a video about how depression effects ppl with ADHD? Watching some of you videos, I think that I might have PDD, but because I take focalin for my adhd (which is also an antidepressant) I really only started feeling it recently, as I grew out of the dosage.
I wouldnt say that I have a major case, but between being introverted, autistic, adhd, and possibly migraines, when I get home, I really just want to crash, but my parents make me stay down, socialize, especially during diner, when just want to eat and crash.
When Ive tried to explain that Im feeling tired, they just say rest. I hope that having a diagnosis will change that.
Also, if you do make a video on this, could you include that its normal to not be able to cry with antidepressants, as well as have more stunted ranges of emotion? The former is something that i really beat myself up a bit for (especially since I always feel on the verge of crying, and with the later, especially with my autism, I have trouble getting excited. There are only a few things that get me genuinely, visibly excited, but with everything else, I have to put on a show.
As a side note, this doesnt really relate to the above, but I feel like the autism is so much more me than the ADHD is. I dont know if it is because one is suppressible, but its really interesting.
Also, for those people who dont have any conditions, or those who do, its perfectly normal for a person diagnosed with something to just want a bit more slack, but not to be treated differently. Thats one of the main reasons that Ive kept my autism hidden from most, as I think that people would just accept the quirks and treat me the same.

Im not sure what kind of depression i have, i am able to function well, have moments that spark joy and such
as someone who is disciplined, doesnt have stress problems but still feel horrible mentally for certain periods of each day (mainly at home,
its really hard for me to enjoy things anymore.
I am losing joy in many things, feeling burnt out from video games, not having much or if any opportunities to socialise with friends or others (i dont have many friends anyway, have very little interraction outside school) and sometimes, i just dont know what i would want to do.
I have also become someone who doesnt want much for some reason. Since there are only a few things that make me feel better about myself and actually enjoy doing and usually i dont get to do any of that, im struggling with many things, isolated (not that i want to, its not possible to be not) and be lonely, end up in emotional breakdowns when depression is severe and also feel like life just hates me for existing, i feel very unlucky in many ways.
i dont think mental help from a professional would help (even if there is any in my area, my parents clearly dont understand it either and not that they can actually help with it
at least i am physically standing strong still, not being ill is a great feeling and its rare for me to get sick twice in a year, usually each year or 2

I feel completely un motivated to do the things that I once enjoyed. I recently left college due to multiple reasons. One of them being mental health. And I've been wanting to volenteer but. Being able to even go to my mental health appointments is difficult. I'm 19 and have suffered with mental health difficulties my whole life and ever since becoming an adult the help and the support has felt non existent. All of the good mental health people I spoke to I don't have anymore. I feel life and society is constantly pressuring me to be this super independent person. I've always struggled with my independence. I can live independently there's nothing physically stopping me it's just my mental health stops me from being completely independent. I feel lots of people just think just go do it just go walk outside and you'll feel better. However this can be difficult for people that suffer from mental health. Last but not least thank you all for taking the time to read this if you've made it this far! We are all in this together and I wish that everyone eventually gets better and find things more manageable

could it have lasted like 20 years, if the person haven't gotten any help to deal with it, ever?
I used to be the best in school, I used to love learning and love playing with the other kids.
then we moved, and things started to change, I became average at school stuff, still wanted to learn, but couldn't be bothered to do the work to learn, I just wanted to be alone, and I hated being around people. I started playing a lot of games, because I could just sit at a pc, alone, with headset on and have nobody talk to me. obviously my parents and teachers picked up the keeping to myself part, but never did anything about it, except tell me stop doing that. and ever since, I have had it like this, I prefer staying at home, just sitting at my pc, playing games, watching stuff, or doing nothing. I mostly just feel. like a line, neither ups or downs, just straight forwards, nothings good nothing bad, it just is. I put off doing any chores for as long as I can, but I don't like staying in bed (if I stay in bed to long, I get a headache, those are really annoying/hurt, so I avoid them by getting up.

0: 30. I tried hundreds of times to communicate. my mom said go past it, ur not really depressed i tried saying to my moms friend that i really trusted, that my mom made me sad and angry (spoilers betray). My mom got mad and said Are you crazy and she called my dad to come take me forever. Dad who didnt want me either. Then i asked for paint for my birthday, the auntie sent the money, she shouted at me and i got nothing for my birthday.
Before she said i shouldnt talk to my friends anymore, and i shouldnt have any social media even tho im old enough. She says my 4yo siblings are my friends even though their 4.
She said no to Netflix. And Tiktok.
At one point i even wrote on a paper. I felt so light and good but i was scared she found it since she goes trough my phone for nonsense reason.
I deleted it and now i keep it inside me everytime. I shut up and im so tried i cant do anything im at a 6/10 depressed but no ones here.
Btw im gay inside the closet and my moms homophobic prison you go. It doesnt help.
Everyone is. No password on my phone too if thats not enough.

This is too close to home. I havent felt like myself since the second year of the pandemic. Then I just snapped. I was with my mom. We were having an argument about how I was snapping at her more and more. But that wasnt the problem. I was having trouble in school because online learning didnt go well. I have ADHD. And I had forgotten about one of my classes. To which she yelled at me over the phone. Then when Im school learning started. That teacher made me feel dumb and useless. When I snapped. I just started calling myself worthless. What did she do? She basically said oh. Do you want to go down to the mental health place in a condescending way. Then she got me a psychiatrist. But to this point. She or my dad have always sat in on the conversation. They answered the questions I was given. Just thinking about it now gives me a headache. The worst part. Is that most of my family was diagnosed with depression. But instead I was told that I was the least depressed.

I cant even remember the last time a cried. Happy or sad. Just when Im in physical pain. I laugh sometimes but Im stuck forcing myself to do things just so I dont waste away laying in bed all day. I try to do things I enjoy but no one in my family understands them. Like video games. The things i enjoy are unique to me so often I find myself doing them alone and when I do, it bothers other people somehow. I dont really know what to do. How do I enjoy the things I like when A: no one else enjoys it meaning I do it alone. And B: attempting to start said activity usually results in immediately getting shut down to the point where the amount of attempts turns the reasoning into youve been playing too much.

I knew it. I don't have depression and I'm not in denial. I'm just actually lazy / have adhd. And my therapist said I didn't have depression. I did just talk about the self harm and not the suicidal thoughts but I'm sure these weren't serious because I never went further than thinking about it. I'm perfectly fine. I don't know. I wanna know. Please. I wanna know without needing to talk about it. Please. I don't know what's happening anymore.

This all makes sense. I'm always struggling with fatigue. And it's not because I'm lazy, it's because I'm always depressed. I never knew it at first. But watching this video, it all makes sense. . I was always being bullied at school and at home. I have childhood trauma. And also had a narcissistic family. They would always put me down. And a whole lot more. It was so stressful. I never knew then. But I sure do know a whole lot now.

I admit that I just am so very weary and tired of feeling defeated. Unbearable getting through my sad days, all I do is sleep and then feel guilty disappointed in myself. Definitely feel that something is terribly wrong with me. I have a much around me supportive family a few true caring friends yet feeling alone and miserable. No matter what I attempt to do, its not working. Lately I dont even want to wake up

Thank you for saying you dont know why you feel this way For days Ive been trying to figure out what this feeling is or why since my life is relatively good compared to most (finances could be a factor though) And I thought it came out of nowhere but Im realizing its slowly been getting worse. I feel lost, disconnected, unmotivated, tired, and just completely off overall.

Not being able to do literally anything was the scariest and the darkest period of my life. Days and Months were just passing by while I just slept or paced around my room, stared at the monitor. The heart pain was so real. Zero progress for nearly a year. No job, no college, no movies, no music, nothing new could enter my life. Terrifying.

I remember entering a specific stage of my life where I really struggled and I never could open up to anyone because Im always punished for it and when I try my best no one cares and just punishes me. The few things I found enjoyment in always get taken away if I dont do something right for extremely long periods of time

at this point, i think anyone who watches this is already suspecting of depression, and that most of us relates to those signs.
also, i cannot get professional help, it just isnt an available choice to me, though ill be sure of what i do, and try not to fall into doing anything that'd hurt me.
