Its annoying, I love horror in the moment, I can binge hours of horror movies and games, but its a very self-destructive habit. I get terrified alone very easily, and I have a problem where Im terrified that if Im alone, the second I turn around something is going to jump out at me even if Im in someplace safe, like my room or the bathroom. Ive been so terrified that I sit in the corner of the room for nearly an hour, jumping at every creak, listening and watching for any movement, mouth open and ready to scream. Its a real problem, and literally anything scary (even just a slightly creepy picture) will intensify that fear drastically (like barely thinking about it to being too terrified to go shower. So, unfortunately, I cant watch horror. Boo.

The reason why I love horror alongside sci-fi and fantasy is because I love the design and imagination it has!
I really love monsters, such as humanoids that has a reason to exist aswel as the symbolism behind the horror concepts of our fears and nightmares.
And I love horror art/comics! Im far less grossed out in art and video games as horror movies/shows are most likely live action and disturbingly graphic.
I also wish to play more horror games and watch horror movies a lot more someday haha.

this might sound psychopathic but horror movies dont scare me. some of them do give me that rush but its not like a fear situation, its more like when youre going on a rollercoaster. and with elevated horror in particular i absolutely love analyzing the way camerawork and sound design and even the structure of the plot create what is considered scary, hence why i absolutely love a24 and jordan peeles horror movies. the more traditional jumpscare type of movie is honestly just comedy to me

Horror has been my favourite genre since I was 5 years old. My mother would always rent horror movies from the video store for us every weekend. It really is just a comfort for me now and has turned me into a curious person into morbid things (but not in a weird way. I am a pretty quiet and socially anxious person, so watching a horror movie or reading one of my horror books/manga helps me unwind. I know that these things cant hurt me, except for the real monsters out there in the world.

The narrative is mostly what drives me, but also the atmosphere. It sounds silly but I don't play horror games necessarily to be scared, rather in a real life world where I feel everyone is always out to get me and are doing all they can to ruin my life, I find comfort in barricading myself by my lonesome in a dark and secluded mansion (or whatever the setting is. In the darkness I can be myself, and in an abandoned secluded mansion, no one can come and find me.

The video game series Silent Hill is a very good example of a good narrative because of the serralism / symbolism of the games. In Silent Hill, the town will manifest different monsters based of the characters past tramua. The story is also deeper than what's provided on the surface, and you can interrupt the story anyway you want. So I have a question for Silent Hill fans. Who's excited for the upcoming reboot of the most beloved entry in the series Silent Hill 2?

For me, I had a lot of trauma and negative emotions as a kid. Horror was my way of expressing the way I often felt inside, but in a way that didn't get me in trouble or anyone truly hurt. Heavy metal is also a coping skill for me in the same way. It's healthy anger I can fuel my emotions to. I can't wait for my grandkids to come over and cuddle up on my lap and watch Silence of the Lambs for my 666th time

I am a fan of the horror genre since childhood, when I started reading Stephen King's IT and since that time I suffer from a moderate form of coulrophobia. But when I would have to pick either a book or a movie, I would decide in favor of the book. I truly hate jump scares and movies rarely reach the level of depth in backstory, inner world of the characters and ourter world descriptions.

I somehow find comfort in horror, My favourite horror game is Outlast and The Last Of Is. I think my reasoning was my surrounding. A lot of scary stuff was happening around me at a young age and i started early playing horror games like Five nights at Freddy's and then went over to movies and series. And as of now I don't really get scared of any other thing the the real world and the people in it.

I really like horror, but Im very picky with it lol cosmic horror is my favourite sub-genre. I think the reason it appeals to me is because of how it forces you to be creative, often letting you come up with the design for whatever creature is in the story. Cthulhu is a great example of this. Hes described very vaguely, but everyone has their own version of him and I think thats really neat lol

I was terrified of the dark until 24. I had to sleep with my lights on and my nose barely out of the covers (it was so hard sleeping like that. I grew to love paranormal and psychological thrillers in highschool and have loved them since. I always figured maybe it was a polarizing response to face my fears lol

I'm one of those outliers I suppose. I am pretty damn neurotic but I love horror. I even write horror! I love how horror addresses the taboo, the things about being human that society at large doesn't want to talk about. Horror holds up a mirror to the human experience, whether we want it to or not.

I love horror and the paranormal, I dont find it scary I find it funny and interesting. Sam and Colby, fnaf, Mandela catalog, walton files, Amanda the adventure, Andys apple farm, marble hornets, generation loss and a bunch more awsome shows, games and analog horror stories! They are so cool!

Great video! as a game dev, this helped alot, but theres something you missed: story. what I mean is, a story can effect a horror experience. for example, springtrap is a scary charachter on his own, but knowing he's a experienced child murderer doubles the factor. Great video BTW

My problem was, i dont watch horror movies but ive scared myself so much with horror.
I couldnt go to the bathroom when i was yonger without being constantly creeped out and scared, i was scared in public abt something happe ing to me after i watch something even after days

I am not a fan of horror. I'm too sensitive for most horror media. Messes with my mind in a big way afterward.
But I will attest to the curiosity bit. My curiosity is so strong that it occasionally makes me want to engage to know what happened and how things end.

I love scary movies, but I hate jump scares so I always have like half the screen covered with my hand loool! And I love scary games, too, I could watch someone play them, but I can't be the one playing it. Too scary to be the one in control
reply

I love scary/gothic stuff like the movies of Tim Burton, but I prefer the less scary, more Gothic horror over some of the more modern R rated horror
Although I did think about going as Reagan from the Exorcist for Halloween some time

horror movies can be so much more and has so many narratives, it's interesting to see how various situations can make you feel chills down your spine, I love horror movies, they entertain and calm me down
reply

No idea about games, my favorite is diffrent depends on my mood. But in case of movies I'll always choose Scream. The movie that literally saved the horror ganre and hooked me up on scary movies
reply

Ive always hated horror movies, and I get scared easily
Never understood why my friends love it so much and always wondered why they love it so much
Id personally watch a comedy or a drama

reply

I personally dont hate horror, but I am not one for jump scares, if that makes sense. I am fascinated with the SCP horrors, because of the curiosity I had when I first started getting into it.
reply

I enjoyed watching people played horror games than actually playing it and then i watch horror movie alone lights are down and Ac turned on, everyrime a new release i would go crazy about it
reply

I do not like movies or games that are way too violent and gory. A suspenseful plot, though, is much better at keeping my attention and even better if there is an element of supernatural.
