How
Narcissists often exhibit various behaviors and traits that can negatively impact their relationships and those around them. Some common things narcissists do include:
1. Excessive Self-Centeredness: Narcissists tend to constantly focus on themselves, their needs, and their desires, often disregarding the feelings and needs of others.
2. Lack of Empathy: They struggle to empathize with others and have difficulty understanding or caring about the emotions and experiences of people around them.
3. Manipulation: Narcissists can be skilled manipulators, using tactics like guilt-tripping, gaslighting, and emotional blackmail to control and influence others.
4. Exploitation: They may exploit others for personal gain, seeking attention, admiration, or material benefits without considering the well-being of others.
5. Grandiosity: Narcissists often have an inflated sense of their own importance, believing they are more special, talented, or deserving than others.
6. Sense of Entitlement: They may expect special treatment, privileges, or admiration, often without earning or deserving them.
7. Difficulty Handling Criticism: Narcissists often react poorly to criticism, becoming defensive, angry, or dismissive instead of considering feedback.
8. Attention-Seeking: They frequently crave attention and admiration, seeking to be the center of attention in social situations.
9. Shallow Relationships: Narcissists might form relationships primarily to fulfill their own needs and desires, lacking genuine emotional connection or care for others.
10. Lack of Accountability: They often avoid taking responsibility for their actions, deflecting blame onto others or external circumstances.
11. Jealousy and Envy: Narcissists can become envious of others' achievements and success, leading to negative emotions and behaviors.
12. Boundary Violation: They may disregard personal boundaries and invade others' privacy, viewing their desires as more important.
13. Unpredictable Mood Swings: Narcissists' emotions can be erratic and intense, leading to unpredictable and often disproportionate reactions.
It's important to note that while these behaviors are common among narcissists, not everyone who exhibits one or more of these traits is a full-blown narcissist.

I wanna know whether or not I show signs of a covert narcissist just to be a little more aware, and if I am, so that I can change my ways because I'd want to be humble. I'm bad with negative evaluation or feedback, so I usually try to act unbothered, calm or friendliness. I'd reckon it's a defense mechanism to not break down and cry in front of others, since I don't want their attention nor to waste their time. I don't really judge my environment, I just decide to accept it as is and leave no thoughts in my head, observing with interest quietly. I don't really think with my inner speech unless I need t. For impolite gestures, I usually listen intently but yawn when I get tired. Not that I mean to do so, but I'm always curious about something. I used to voice my negative self talk, yes, but now I don't, and only really open up when my friend 100% gives consent. I don't want to worry them. Although I do like praise, compliments or positive attention. I cannot deny that. I've been told I was passive aggressive or sarcastic sometimes, but I think I just never noticed until my friend pointed it out. I sometimes like to joke around, mock and humiliate my friend, but I do get worried when it actually hurts them. Other than that, I try my best to blame myself since I know I need to take accountability or responsibility.

Fun thing ( or not? )
One of my friends is a covert narcissist and she does show all the signs you say in your video and more. She is literally a text book Narcissist.
I myself suffer from Anti-social personality disorder. ( Yeah good mix XD )
It's good in a sense because when she try to make me feel bad I just don't. I'm the one calling her out and returning her to reality. ( She is a friend so I do this still in a civilized way )
But since she believes she is perfect and want to avoid any conflict situation that might prove that she is not, she tend to be the one more weary of me and she doesn't just follow into anything I tell her too.
So in the end two negatives, did made a positive.
We've been friends for years and even if we had our ups and downs. We are still friends.
But that said. It's still very dangerous.

This is so interesting to watch. I feel that my mother falls under the category of covert Narcissism, though I still hold the mindset that she could just be displaying certain Narcissism behaviors.
I also feel I've developed a lot of these attributes myself. Specifically the cognitive empathy and lack of emotional empathy. The big difference I suppose is that I'm aware of my glaring issues. I'm at least trying to face my insecurities that the positive praise and feedback would normally cover up for a narcissist. Man. I have to say it's really nightmarishly difficult, though. I can really understand why narcissists do what they do with how hollow my experience has been so far. I started down that path and it is a really steep path, and not easy to crawl back from.

I was in a common law relationship with an overt narcissist, although I didn't know that at the time. After we split up, I dated a guy I thought was very different. I didn't learn that he was a covert narcissist until after we broke up. In fact, he was the reason I learned what narcissistic behavior was at all, so I guess that was a plus? Finally went to counseling and discovered my mom was narcissistic and every guy I had been with had been as well (it was described to me as a scale, so one guy was like an overt 8 and another guy was more a covert 4. Being brought up thinking this behavior was normal set me up to pick the same type of relationships over and over again. Even though they might look different, they weren't.

Videos like this one have helped me to realize I was dealing with narcissistic friends because they had every single one of these traits. I knew something was off with them and I couldn't say what. I can tell these were the most draining interactions I had in my life. Good thing I ended these friendships with no contact at all and now I have zero regrets, because they tried to make me stay (through victimization) as their friend, but now that I look back it became obvious they didn't care about me, all they wanted me for was to make them feel good about themselves.
Recognizing these traits helped me to move on to a happier life.

Overt = My father
Covert = My mother
My brother and I were caught between the machinations of two narcissists oof, its no wonder our childhood went off-kilter.
Seriously, how are we not emotionally effed-up after so much B. S! I dont know whether to be thankful or relieved at this point
(I occasionally become self-conscious about falling into similarly narcissistic traits, though after years of abuse and self-esteem issues I also worry that itll go the other way, undoing years of emotional therapy and self-healing in an ironic twist any tips on how to find and maintain an optimal balance? )

Yeah, bassically I was swarmed by these people in school, but that's okay, I don't have to deal with them anymore. Somethimes I feel remorsefull because I was avoiding almost any contact with the people I had to be around with, but then I remember that in end it doesn't even matter, it's all gone, rather than lowering my standarts to people to be more social, I'd always rather to be alone, it's eazy and hard at the same time. If they can't accept my true self, than I won't try either to take the initiative instead

please, make a video about the differences between autism spectrum disorder, borderline personality disorder and narcissism. there are probably people out there that are watching this and wondering if theyre a narcissist, when it could be something else. i think its important to be able to discern disorders like these from each other- especially when it could harm people to not know the difference.

As a virgo, this year had been undulated for me and the negatives outweighed the positives, so this reading truly resonated with me and I am genuinely looking forward to next year, academically, romantically, mentally and physically. I am glad to hear that Ill be able to be closer to my family as well. Thank you so much. I claim this positive energy.

It's hard to discern them in the early stage of a relationship. It took me decades to figure out my ex-friend is a covert narcissist. I felt something is wrong with him when he showed me self-serving empathy. After a while, I realized I had overlooked many red flags Finally, I'm glad to say I went no contact with him

Hey guys, thanks for the video. I liked the content, but I have one thing to mention. In the end narcissism is a disorder and people with this disorder usually suffered in their early days and still are. I just hope people are also aware of that. The media usually portraits them as evil people. Its not that simple.

I'm a covert narcisst is almost what you described an I don't matter to but I'm ok with that I don't think of myself that way I don't just sit around and do nothing all day I'm actually productive and like to utalze my freedom to a productive extent rather than get depressed listening and obeying my fears a day.

If you have someone like this in your life, then it's time to move on. If you're dating break up, if you're married get divorced, and If it happens to be you're employer go, and speak with a lawyer, and find out if you have a solid hostile work environment suite.

These behaviors can easily be taught to children. If you have a naturally oversensitive child that you continually put down, compare to others, etcetera.
Some assume that they're making the child tougher with the mocking and such.
That may not be the case!

This is my father all over. Especially the last point. It's hard because he hides it well. I love him so much and he's a good person but he's also selfish, insecure and hurtful. Its really draining.
