Why Japan's Geography Sucks I love RealLifeLore and I dont blame him for getting this wrong at all, but its a wrong and propagandized part of history that the U. S. had to drop the Nuclear Bombs to force their hand to surrender, their navy was already destroyed and they were about to negotiate a surrender, but the emperor wanted a Conditioned Surrender while the Allies(the U. S)wanted unconditional surrender, and the Nuclear Bombs didnt change as much as people believe because the emperors government didnt care about the people all that much, just like Nazi Germany, Shaun has done a great and well researched video on this.

So, how the Japanese succeed if they never had resources? I do not kind get -counquest/trade- explanation, because they've been trading with what, if they didn't have recources? And how they were fightning with other countries, if again, no resources mean not a lot of food, iron for weapons etc?
Also, funny thing to me, why is Japan called -she- if in English there are no -genders- like ie. in French (le/un, la/une?

Watching this type of videos about Japan always makes me feel extremely impressed by the things they as a nation have accomplished in spite of all the odds and lack of resources. Mexico is one of the richest countries in natural resources and its geography is incredible, and still we haven't been able to keep up with the rest of the world in terms of development. Makes you think about a lot of things.

Unfortunately you miss all the awesome geography here! Awesome amount of annual rainfall. Green things grow fast. Fresh water is abundant. Timber. Lots of it and it grows fast! Lots of mountains, which helps give lots of rain, and ski resorts (though global warming is cramping that a bit. Geothermal stuff like awesome hot springs. I could go on but it-s not all bad is the point.

Japan has been through catastrophic earthquakes, tsunamis, volcanoes, typhoons, atomic bombs, nuclear meltdowns, and barely has any arable land and natural resources. and it still somehow stands as one of the most developed and populated countries on the planet.
reply

10: 03 - That's an incredibly arrogant statement rooted in an ironic lack of knowledge about basic animal/human behaviour. Conquest/conflict for survival/resource is the most naturally prevalent and justifiable reason for conflict across all species.
reply

4: 10 Yes Japan did temporary close all Nuclear power plants and after upgrade opens most of them back 12 years late!
If japan was to be serious about it then can have 50-60% of it's energy been Nuclear by 2052 as (carbon neutrality 2050) --

reply

Funny thing is, the most advanced countries in Asia are all lacking in land and nautural resources
Japan, South Korea and Taiwan have relatively small territories, and basically zero natural resources
But they are all global powerhouses in Tech

Kanto plain is the largest area of flat land in Japan, which has good agriculture. But are we gonna use it for that? Ofcourse not! Let's build the largest city in the world here, then say we don't have enough arable land to grow food on!
reply

3: 20 Japan Had a lot of coal but used more of it by the 70's and still has some in Hokkaido too!
Japan Geography of sea + mountain make it ideal place for land reclamation and so can make more arable land in the sea!

reply

Having mountains and bad excess is a plus out of an environmental perspective. Japan has so much nature in comparison to Europe (In the Netherlands, no natural forest has really made it up to today for example)
reply

Conquest wasn-t justifiable in an overall global time of conquest and imperialism? What a weird comment in the video. Would you say that the Roman Empire or others also weren-t justified? Poor contextual comment
reply

Japan has been conquered before. Following the Second World War the United States occupied the Japanese home islands. Even though the U. S. did not annex the islands, this is still technically a conquest.
reply

Why didn't you mention all of the Western imperial activities in the Asian region at the time? Why didn't you mention that the US' dropping of the atomic bombs was war crimes and crimes against humanity?
reply

How about floating wind turbines for energy production with very a root made of a chunk of material graved at a certain depth in earth with a flexible robe from a rigid material terrible idea?
reply

I think the U. S. occupation after WWII would be considered an invasion and conquest by an outside power. The fact that you didn't mention it leads me to wonder if I'm missing something.
reply

It-s surprising that Japan can compete with America in economics, technology, and human development.
Despite the fact that America has almost 3 time the people than that of Japan.

Nevada is tougher. We are in a desert full of mercury and lead and arsenic. The only thing beyond the mountain you can see is another mountain that you can't see.
reply

despite of all problems that japanese people had, they could beat all dificults from their geography and they become a big superpower. is quite admirable
reply

After hearing all these disadvantages one would assume that Japan is a poor country. It's crazy how they managed to become a highly developed country
reply

Other than the natural beauty of Japan as a great resource there-s the brilliance of the people and the effective culture of order and harmony.
reply

I think they should have kept the nuclear power everybody's against it when something bad happens but they forget how much good it does
reply

Four percent nuclear, 96 percent fossil fuels! Japan won't be bothering with the net zero policy then? And if the imports stop, what then?
reply

The isolationist ideal they used before the 1900s explains why there is still a long standing xenophobic attitude in Japan.
reply

4: 00 -every nuclear power plant shut down in japan-
also
-only 4% of Japan's total energy comes from nuclear power-

reply

Japan's geography has allowed it to not be invaded and colonized for the most part so seems pretty decent to me lol.
reply

Referring to a country as 'she' or 'her' is frustrating for people with English as a second or third language
reply

Japan at its peak invaded 1/3 of China and not for long and often had difficulties sustaining it from local rebels
reply

Gotta be a really nice place, no doubts. but in the same time worst place to live in, hate crowded areas
reply

I-d say not having fossil fuels and the like is a good thing for Japan because less carbon emissions.
