How 100, 000 Satellites Will Change Earth Forever by 2040 RealLifeLore how old are you? Economic and societal gains for who? You obviously are young and dont get whats going on. The average person is being disenfranchised from decision making by technology. 100 000 satellites in low orbit = the ultimate police state and if its controlled by corporates well Im not sure which would be worse.

This graph is quite flawed.
- You're using only 1/3 of the total graph for actual data, the rest of the line is either predicted or made-up numbers.
- You're using an exponential scale, which makes no sense when looking at the real data you've got. And how you wish to present it.
- By using the exponential scale, you're hardly giving any proper insight on just how much a difference of 85k to 1. 9k is.
- At 6: 35, -NASA- hopes to get this under a $1000 in 2040, but show the line go to $100. Which is a major difference.
I did quite like the rest of the video and your others though.

4: 57 you couldn-t have come up with a worse rocket to showcase the -incredible cost reductions- making access to space easier lol
If you should F9, Vulcan or starship sure
Pretty much the only thing more expensive than SLS is Saturn V
But cost per kg and price efficiency of SLS is certainly way better than anything in its class before - shuttle was $400M per launch to bring 30t to LEO, whereas SLS can do 49t to the moon for $620M
Very nice video besides that

Personally, I wish a solar flare like the Carrington Event will wipe out the craziness of people like Elon and remind human that our place is here, on Earth.
I actually start to believe that no civilization will reach out of its solar system because periodically, their sun will reduce all their efforts to piles of electronics trash, unless a civilization finds another mean of technology to advance on.

11: 50 - The Kessler Syndrome is a -doomsday scenario-? IMO, quite the opposite. While I'm not sure that a terminator-like SkyNet will arise in the next decade, I would welcome a mass pileup of satellites that would reduce the dominance that big tech has over us. Do we really need to have high-speed internet everywhere at all times? I've already voted -no- for my lifestyle.

That graph at 5: 20 is one of the worst statistical distortions ever published. The scale on left is outrageously warped to utter uselessness. Equidistant gaps are TEN TIMES smaller value as adjacent ones, creating the most blatantly inaccurate deception of true cost reduction --- of any statistics video I've seen on the internet.

1. What the astronomy community loses in earth based observations it gains a hundredfold in cheaper and more available space based observations.
2. 6000 to 100, 000 satellites the size of cars orbiting on a plane four to eight times bigger than the surface of earth is still the opposite of crowded.

My cable TV is far better than satellite TV, a little storm come, the signal gone. So why would people choose satellite internet over the cable one? Do they mostly live in a desert or in the jungle?
This might not be a big problem as this video as majority of people live in the big cities.

Design a drone that attaches itself to the defunct satellite and pushes it towards reentry. The drone could calculate when to reenter. The drone could even have a parachute installed onto it if one wants to recover it intact. I have no clue what I-m talking about but it sounds pretty cool. -

The thing is i love Astronomy. Its so fascinating but at the end of the day its just a hobby right? --- cause there is nothing useful it can do. There is no way we ever find other life and when it comes to space travel we can go to mars and just set up telescopes there
reply

is it possible to push broken satelite away with laser instead of bringing is back down? i mean, we could install a failsafe in case of newer sateites much like cells in our bodies have -kill yourself- command but in case of old and large satelites its not an option
reply

9: 15 well I guess North Koreans will finally be able to figure out that North Korea kinda sucks compared to most of the world. They'll finally have internet access and communication to the outside world and maybe start their much needed revolution for freedom

Thankfully humanity, especially big companys have proven to be responsible, trustworth and caring just for good. I have No worrys, that this will be all good -
Hey honey, be careful, satelites are raining heavy today.

I've always wondered if Musk has ambitions to start a LEO sanitation company. It'll be like the NY mafia, but in space. He who controls the garbage controls the world, right?
reply

Amazing how none of them hit each other! sheep in comments to brainwashed by space movies and Rich people to know Satellites do not move there stationary! and used on Earth.

Me: -think about the cost of sending myself to space--converts lbs to kilograms--sinks into depression realizing it-s going to take a lot of money to ship my fat ass to space-
reply

A good improvement would be painting the sattelites Black or use an light absorvant material. This significantly reduces light reflection from them and can reduce view pollution
reply

Just make some really strong nets attached to small rockets, they will grab the satellites and keep going infinitely into the void of space even if they run out of fuel.
reply

The idea of that many satellites kinda seems dumb because then you-re going to have to worry about space debris. Might end up trapping ourselves on the planet
reply

i can see gundam era will begin with this satelites age. Anno Domini will be changed to something else like in gundam universe (Universal Century, Cosmic Era, etc. )

13: 14 future pronounced as FEW-shore rather than FEW-chore, is it a slip of tongue or new trend in English? I'm just curious, I like spotting accents sometimes.
reply

100, 000 satellites sounds dum without a real answer for space debris. eaven this 6000 is becoming a limit with all the flying particles of debris.
reply

With the price per kilogram dropping, soon they'll be able to launch yo mama into orbit. Thank you ladies and gents, I'll see myself out.
reply

yeah, 100, 000 satellites will start the Kessler Syndrome. It'll definitely -change the world forever, - lol. You should not be celebrating this.
reply

knowing humanity and it's interest in solving problems on time, dooms day for Earth's space is pretty damn close and that makes me anxious
reply

It seems like there needs to be some sort of spacecraft that can collect space junk and dead satellites to bring them back to Earth.
reply

This is a really bad idea!
Do you REALLY need the internet when you're up a mountain camping?
the sky will be littered with junk

reply

This guy-s videos are awesome. I-ve learned so much about geography and other things by just watching his 10 to 15 minute clips!
reply

Why not limit the number of satellites through a global treaty? The satellites need to be shared among user companies and countries.
reply

virgin galactic is a company that sends virgin's to earth's orbit so they lose their space virginity before their actual virginity
