It's amazing to think that during the oil embargo OPEC put on the US, instead of moving toward better public transit, and other means of transport, the US just kept on being addicted to oil, knowing the cost to the environment and how vulnerable it made the US.

I don't think many people realize how shockingly fragile many parts of the US infrastructure are. It takes very little to cause a statewide or even nationwide emergency and panic.
