Is it possible to lose weight fast in a healthy way? Dig into how different forms of dieting affect your body. In the wealthiest circles of Victorian England, dieters would swallow an unhatched tapeworm and let it grow inside them by consuming undigested meals. And while modern fad diets aren t usually this extreme, they do promise similar results; specifically, losing weight fast. So, are there any fast diets that do work? And are any of them actually healthy for you? Hei Man Chan investigates.

I remember being 90 kg during the beginning of epidemic. I wasnt going out that much when even there wasnt any lockdown yet. I wasnt happy with my calories. I had bought a cardio cycle and put it in front of tv but didnt use much.
One day I had enough. The thing is, cardio wasnt hard. It was somewhat easy and entertaining while playing console games or watching stuff. However I wasnt that happy (well, we, whole humanity was living in a doomed state, thus, I couldnt cut food/start on a diet. Someone had told me once that the body burns calories much faster before a certain hour (16/17 or something. Sooooo I was eating fast food or any kind of meat I made (which makes me happy) before that hour, and cycled through hundreds of calories each day. Each day I burned 700-900 calories min 2 hours of cycling while playing ps games.
The thing is, I lost 14kgs in like 7months. BUT, I felt weak, so weak. because I'had burned some my muscles too.
The point is, maintaining the healthy balance of body can be hard during loosing wait so, Its best not to rush.
Btw I've been going gym for a while now, never felt better

It depends on what you mean by work.
If you want to lose weight quickly, a low calorie diet will work. After all, weight is a function of calories in vs calories out. The problem is that you'll be extremely fatigued and it's difficult to stick to it. However, it can be done. There is the example of Angus Barbieri who literally ate nothing for a year and lost 276 pounds. The effect of lost muscle mass is negligible considering the people who are obese and need to lose weight have very little muscle mass to begin with.
Ultimately, the answer to the question of how to lose weight quickly comes down to whatever you can stick with. I dropped about 50 lbs in 6 months by sticking with a high protein and low calorie diet.
I think TED is doing a disservice by pushing this milquetoast approach to weight loss which puts people into the false thinking that if they just eat a little bit less and just walk a little bit more then the weight will just fall off. That's nonsense. You have to be in a caloric deficit and you'll be hungry by doing that. There's no way around that difficulty and discomfort.

help. Please, help. Please. Im numb all the time and i have no appetite so when i started to loose weight, i used the chance. But then things got better so i gained a whole lot. When things got bad again, i started to cope with food instead of loosing weight and exercise. But they noticed. Of course they noticed but couldnt notice my scars. So i started to restrict again, this time learning about calories etc. Its been 5 weeks. Im around the same weight i started with. But now im having around 500 cals a day. Help. I cant talk to my parents irl. They wont help, its not safe and im afraid of recovery. I want to stop this but the only way to seems to be stopping my life. Please. Anyone. Answer.

Intermittent fasting has worked wonders for me. I eat only in the evenings, but eat plenty, usually a good 2000cal, but I don't count. I cheat a bit at the weekends and have treats but Monday-Friday I eat only in the evenings. It took me a week or two to adjust to it but I've lost 30kg since June and on weeks where I don't lose weight, or I gain it because I've been enjoying myself on holiday, I can get right back to it. I've never had so much control of my weight before. It's stress free and completely doable over the long term. Giving my body a chance to lower insulin levels and prevent insulin resistance should also help with my family history of diabetes too.

I lost 200 pounds in a year because the phlebotomist at my doctor's office gave me a tip that changed everything. She said drink a half ounce of water for every pound you weigh. (I'd been drinking only 64 ounces a day) I started drinking a gallon of water a day, walking an hour, and having a diet with restricted sodium and carbs and sugar.
The late night cravings that always ruined my past diets wasn't being hungry, it was being thirsty. And that's why the water helped so much. Planning occasional days where you can carefully fall off your diet helps a lot, too, because if you think you'll never overeat again, this won't last. I have two a month.

I really needed to see this. I started my diet and exercise routine in April this year. At first, I was eating around 1, 200 1, 500 calories a day and I started cycling twice a day, 45 minutes each time. My weight dropped very fast, but I was utterly exhausted, I started getting migraines, and my hair became weaker. About a month and a half ago I pumped the breaks on my routine. Now I'm eating around 1, 500 1, 700 calories a day and I only cycle for 45 60 minutes in the morning while staying mildly active throughout the day. I'm still losing weight, but I feel so much better. I'm down 50 lbs. with 30 more to go, and I've never felt better. :)

Total nonsense.
I went on a carrot diet in 1969 to lose 34 lbs.
I got to my target by allowing my excess muscle to return to normal.
A few years later, I went down another 12 lbs.
My weight return to pre-pregnancy weight after each of my three children.
Over fifty years later I m only over my initial goal weight by about 10 lbs.
I became a vegetarian and a walker/hiker who averages over 4 miles a day.
I truly believe that my healthy lifestyle would not have been possible without that carrot diet in 1969.

tbh, despite being obese, if i lost any weight while knowingly not trying to lose weight with diet and exercise, i tend to get nervous. the last time that happened, it was coupled with fatigue, lack of appetite, and a swollen belly. turns out it was my first crohn's flair-up.
i'd like to have the lack-of-apetite feature from that illness in order to lose weight again, but my stomach tends to demand food all the time since i tend to skip meals or not bother with it at all (and ADHD struggle of mine.

Honestly, the healthiest way to loose weight is (in my opinion/experiance and through new observation and studies) intermittent fasting.
Our bodies are built for fasting. Most chronic conditions disappear over time by simply giving the micro biome a break, and let autophagy restore old and poor quality protine tissue through out the body.
It has to be a clean fast though, and one should do a lot of research beforehand. If you're going to do it, you should do it the right way

I learned in school about a substance that blocks mitochondria from making ATP releasing the energy as heat instead. People used it for diet purposes and you can imagine the side effects of that. I also worked for a pharmaceutical company that created a diet pill that interfered with the cannabinoid system and that was pulled from the market because depression was a common side effect. There is no fast/easy way to lose weight, that won't come with serious health problems.

I started trying to maintain a good diet and exercise routine for a month, as I am still really relatively young I m just trying out different exercise methods and so I find one that works for me, and sometimes there are occasions which I m eating certain foods and I don t know how much calories or what kind of nutrients they provide So sometimes you just have to kind of guess with your knowledge already Which does not work most of the time.

I am a studied nutrition scientist and the last 10 years I recognized a lot of patterns. One of the patterns is that many people eat a lot in between meals. Because they are bored or try to increase their motivation during / at work. When I asked them to write down exactly what they ate throughout the day, many were surprised at how much they ate. Eat with conciousness. Realize how energy-rich some foods are.
reply

Fastest way is by water fasting and using ketone bodies as your energy source. It's a hormonal issue. Different foods have different hormonal effects. Just caloric restriction doesn't lower your appetite so you need to eat healthy when you break the fast. With only caloric restriction in mind most people who lose weight, gain it back because they have increased appetite after losing the weight.

An advice that I give to the people who want to do exercises (no matter their reasons: to lose weight, to look attractive, to be strong and muscular):
Combine your exercise with some sports that you love. Can be football, soccer, martial arts, gymnastics.
I do exercise but also I practice karate, takenwoo, boxing and I'm learning ballet and gymnastics.
