Rating: 4; Vote: 2

Explore the early days of the Ottoman Empire, as shrewd political rulers grew the principality into an intercontinental empire. In the late 13th century, Osman I established a small principality sandwiched between a crumbling Byzantine Empire and a weakened Sultanate of the Seljuk of Rum, in what is now Turkey. When I was in High School studying World History, one of my favorite topics was the history of the Ottoman Empire. Thanks, TED-ED for reminding me why I love this period in World History.
