Explore the physics of how jetpacks fly, and discover the technology that allows pilots to maneuver the engines. In 1961, Yuri Gagarin piloted a spacecraft in humanity s first manned space flight. A week later, Bell Aerosystems debuted a gas-powered rocket pack that could fly 35 meters in 13 seconds. Unfortunately, engineers knew this short flight was all the rocket pack could muster. So why was a massive spacecraft easier to send flying than a single pilot? Richard Browning and Debbie Browning investigate. This relatively succesful jetpack was made obsolete because of the helicopter.
It's not a bad video but it massively oversimplifies the reality of it whyle being a great ad for the jetpack you are talking about while not even being the only one on the market

From what I remember about the american jetpack program you made a couple inaccuracies, there was a rocket powered jetpack with the 30 seconds of flight and another gas powered using jets with about 20 minutes of flight. This relatively succesful jetpack was made obsolete because of the helicopter.
It's not a bad video but it massively oversimplifies the reality of it whyle being a great ad for the jetpack you are talking about while not even being the only one on the market

I didn't realise that we were designing jetpack way back in 1960's.
I thought it's a 1990 or 2000 thing.
If we could figure out miniatureized nuclear fusion that can be contained so as not to burn the wearer we can have jetpacks and loads of other things. But it might take another century or two before we could do that and even then it might not be possible.

Really not sure why the comparison of jet packs with Space Rockets in relation to jett for planes.
The space Rocket was massive compared to its pilot, by comparison the rockets on the jet pack were tiny.
The small jets you then go onto still have nothing to do with space ships.
Your opening comments are basically a mess!

Jet engines are efficient and good but not enough to be our future.
Our future lies in ion thrust engines. With large enough accelerators, we could produce massive thrust in small amounts of fuel.
What say you Ted Ed? Making a video about them any time soon?

Worst part about this is that despite these advancements we might not get jetpacks because fuel from petroleum in the planet will be out soon (on which jetpack technology is based) and again we would have to start using the new technology

tl: dr
They propel gases rapidly out of a cone shaped device, and we don't all have them because they are VERY loud and burn alot of fuel, or require extremely energy dense batteries that are prohibitively expensive.

I think this video mixes together rockets, jets and turbofans? Also relatively slow speed of modern turbofan blades is transsonic at the tips, maybe low RPM, but definitely not speed.

I wonder if you will need to get a pilots license to operate one of they ever come to market, if so I doubt many would get one. (Good thing I already do though [: )
