I find it remarkable that the Herod of history is EXACTLY the sort of person who would kill all the babies of a certain age in a small town in order to prevent a threat to his throne. It would be more farfetched if Herod was actually a good king or decent man. But the fact that he routinely killed who he considered were threats to his rule is pretty telling. Now, I don't know if the Bethlehem massacre was real or a literary throwback to the Goshen massacre. (aka Moses in Exodus) But if it was, you have to remember, Bethlehem was a small town. They had just (within 3 years or so) had a census and knew where people generally were. The soldiers were working from the census and the local records concerning dedications and so forth. So they kinda knew where to go. But if I'm wrong about that and I could be, how many babies were killed? How big was Bethlehem at this point? While graphic and brutal, if it wasn't a sizable number, it would blend into the horrible things that Herod and the Romans have done. We looking back on it would think it's horrendous and it is, but if a historian didn't think it was newsworthy, it didn't go into the record. I wonder what Josephus thought of Bethlehem. And who his sources were. No newspapers back then. Guys like Josephus worked for kings and other rich, powerful people. Anyway, whether it did or didn't happen is a matter of Faith, but given what we know of the man, it's completely possible. Or is it probable?

False. The special thing about the Hasmoneans were they were descended in the male line from Aharon, thus, they were priests. But they weren't descended from Tsadok, the high priest of David and Solomon. So conquering the Syrians -- OK -- becoming kings -- they were _not_ descended from David so not good -- but taking on the high priesthood -- not OK. The Tsadokites, the ultra-conservatives, were against them. But the Hasmonean Alexander Jannai was against the Perushim and they fled the country, such as his brother in law Shimon b. Shetach and Yehudah ibn Tabbai.

To be precise, the Gospel according to Matthew does not say how many Magi there were, only that three kinds of gifts -- gold, frankincense and myrrh -- were offered.
I do not find the absence of mention of the slain infants, both in the Gospel according to Luke and in the writings of Josephus, to be reason to doubt the story. The slain infants were probably of the lower class, of no great importance, and not numerous. Their story would hardly have been material for the headlines.

Harrod was a HALF Jew & HALF Arab king.
Correction Inserted Here by me.
I am thinking the Harrod that is first mentioned is the half Jew / half Arab. but it might be one of the 3 total. I shouldn't spit thoughts before I double check myself.
And I need to watch the whole thing instead of jumping to the conclusion thinking I am absolutely correct.
Note to Self!

The size of Bethlehem in 4BC would have between hundreds if a couple thousand. The surrounding district would have been maybe another thousand or two. How many of 2000 to 4000 people were boys under 2 yrs old? 50% male = 1000 to 2000. People between 1 and 60? Divide that down accounting for attrition of age - those under 2 who were male? 100 boys killed, not thousands.

I'm confused. Herod only added to the already standing Temple that was built when a remnant of Yahuwdah returned from their seventy-year exile.
This second Temple was not like Dawid's that his son Shelomoh had built.
But Herod bestowed lavish extensions to this Temple.
Is this video stating that Herod built the whole of the second Temple?

The population of Bethlehem, at that time, was small; anywhere from 300 to 1000. The massacre probably amounted to no more than a dozen babies. With Herod's killing of many people at that time, it probably would have been ignored and forgotten. No CNN or Fox News then, so word of mouth usually.

So when God told the Hebrews to go and live in peace in the land of Canaan, while they were in Egypt, that means the canaans were ARAB since there were no Jews there. Makes sense as to why Herod was an Arab. So I guess its true that the Land ALWAYS belonged to the Arabs.

For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction, King Herod had some great accomplices, unfortunately he also had some terrifying ones, also Josephus never wrote anything about king Herods killing of the babies, something as horrific as that would never be omitted.

The temple improved by Herod was not Solomon's. That was destroyed by Nebuchadnezzar. What Herod improved on was the temple built by Zerubabel - the 2nd Temple. Thus, do not say Herod rebuilt the temple. He merely improved it and expanded its precincts.

One thing is for sure: THERE WAS NO MASSACKER OF INNOCENTS! Such conduct was strictly forbidden under Roman Law. Such an event would sent shock waves all across the Roman Empire, and Herod would have been tried, and executed himself.

Herod was like Pharaoh in the days of Moses, he was arrogant and tyrannical, and he did the same as he did killing children because he knew from the prophecies of the children of Israel and the Jews that there was a prophet coming.

What I don't understand is that the Jews know where they're praying it is the wrong place cuz where they're prayin at is where the Romans stationed their Legions & the real Temple mount looks like a pile of rubble

Where is the evidence that Herod's tribe was forced into Judaism? Jews never force anyone to join. They won't let others join without much work and ritual because they see everyone else as unclean.

There was more than one Herod - many so-called Christians don't know this; Herod the Great, Herod Archelaus, Herod Antipas, Herod Philip the Tetrarch, Herod Agrippa, Herod Agrippa II.

All of the Kings and Emperors of that time were ruthless cruel people and most of them still are. There have been some notable exceptions, but most of them were assassinated.
