I loved Diana, like most people did, but she really screwed up her life. While Charles' affair with Camilla was the main problem in their marriage, she would have been better off just living separately from Charles, only coming together for official outings. She wasn't married to John Doe, she was in line to become the future Queen of England and while the public sympathized with her plight, I think a great many people were very disappointed that she decided to put her own pursuit of personal happiness, before everyone and everything else, including her 2 sons. Diana often said she didn't want her children to come from a broken home like she did, but that's exactly what ended up happening. Diana's mother did the exact same thing: put her own desires ahead of what was best for her children. And Harry's going down the same path.
The fact that Diana could not sustain any lasting relationships with men (mostly due to her obsessive need for affection) also was a problem and she increasingly made some very bad decisions which ultimately cost her her life. And as a result, her boys grew up without their mother and it paved the way for Camilla to become Queen.

It's truly criminal how the RF took the young, beautiful, naive, virgin, and married her to a much older, leacherous, philandering prince; to give them an heir and a spare. If not for what Charles and Camilla did to her self-esteem and her well-being, she would be alive and a happy grandmother today. But Charles and Camilla broke her heart. God knows what humiliation and embarrassment they put her through. Charles was so insecure and jealous seeing how popular she was and how much the ppl loved Diana ( far more than him, that he grew mean and totally indifferent to Diana. I'm so glad that she grabbed a few years of being loved by Hewitt. She deserved to be loved, cherished, and cared for. She was a beautiful, caring, sweet person. She was devoted to her children and tried to be the best mother any royal mother had ever been. She tried to give them a more normal life filled with adventures and the love and devotion they deserved. She was an extraordinary woman and will always be loved and will remain the people's princess.

There is much prattle about bulimia ruining the marriage, and how a disrupted childhood set the tone. However, that said, Charles and Camillas UTTER SELFISHNESS would certainly have been a more weighty factor. I am convinced that if Charles had shown genuine love and patience to Diana she would have adjusted to public and royal life.
The self serving hedonism of the two Cs is despicable.

Bulimia didn't blight their marriage, Charles didn't care enough to even check in on his wife. It was his betrayal, neglect, cruelty, selfishness, and abuse that ruined their marige. Point blank. And that cow Camilla who couldn't stay out of a married man's bed and remain faithful to her own husband and children at home. Pathetic people, both of them. Diana deserved so much better.

it annoys me that, at 32, people constantly pushing charles to get married. at that age i doubt he had one foot on a banana peel and the other in a grave, knocking at death's door. at 73(happy birthday) he seems fit and healthy and was even more so in his 30's. being harped on to hurry up and marry was a disaster in the end.

Why didnt she want a divorce? She and Charles were living separately for over a decade and she was forced to live a double life with her relationships. She couldnt have been involved in the landmine campaign if she wasnt divorced.
