As the Battle of the Bulge raged on into 1945, the U. S. battled stiff resistance on Leyte and Iwa Jima in the Pacific, and Americans brought the war into the Fatherland while mourning President Roosevelt, who did not live to see their final victory, signaled by the deaths of Mussolini and Hitler and the atomic bombs that defeated Japan

My Father LIVED thru that God Awful War
In the Pacific where he was Was killed by the Imperialistic Japanese Government,
Yes He Lived Thru it but on Tarawa he was Trapped in the waters off Shore on A Coral Reef where he contracted Malaria which Killed Him in 1963 Here At Home Just The Finest Man I ever Knew And I have Met and known Many Fine Men! !
He Said The only Real Effective Weapon that Worked on Them was A M2 Flamethrower nothing else would bring them out of the Caves in The Pacific Front! !
Am I bitter at the Japanese about my Father's Death, Yes very much so, Am I at the Civilian Population, NO NEVER WAS, Only The Imperialistic Politicians That Ran the Effort to Dominate The World! !
They had been attempting to Do so for About 500 Years from the mid 1400's. .
Semper Fi Marine, Dad! !

A hughe crowd celebrated having won the war. but none of them smart enough to realize they did so by killing a multiple times larger crowd of innocent civilians on the other side of the planet by using a weapon so cruel, no other nation ever disrespcted human live enough to use it until today.
Its an extreme excample on how western media controlled people already 80 years ago.

I bet those soldiers who placed mines in the forest of the Ardennes never even thought if they would survive 80 years and their consequence. Today, many curious people looking for relics still get blown up by this type of ordinance, mines, grenades and mortar rounds placed there 80 years ago and even WW1

America, America
God mend thine every flaw
Confirm thy soul in self control
Thy liberty in law
Oh beautiful, for patriot dream
That sees beyond the years
Thine alabaster cities gleam
Undimmed by human tears
Wow! What a beautiful intro. Can't help choking up!

Why did the Chinese have so much problems the Japanese? Luzon was 230k Japanese to 40k American dead and wounded. I mean, it wasn't like the Chinese communist forces did much of anything, but they and the British in Asia had serious problems with them.

The pro voice over early on was the same gent that narrated Victory at Sea. I believe his name to be Leonard Graves, if memory serves. Watching VAS in the early 80s on PBS with my father was always something to look forward to.

Wow, I absolutely love these and thank you for sharing them. Who made this? I presume it was made in the 1950s and want to learn more about it! I cant get enough of the authentic footage and commentator

US did not want to this war is a lie. what US did is basically force japan to war. close all raw material sources and oil. why you might ask because US wanted China to itself as resource rich land

Couldn't have happened to a more deserving country, I can guarantee if we decided to wipe Japan off the face of the Earth in 1945 no one would have felt bad for them and deservedly so.

Doesn't matter how many times Ive seen the same victory reactions in the streets footage. It still always makes my heart smile. The partying must have carried on for ages.

Very interesting use of contemporary footage. If anyone is interested try and get hold of the know your ally footage. It's something I'd never seen before. Really interesting

This video has almost nothing to do with news of the end of the war. We have to sit through the last two years of the war to see two minutes of what this video is allegedly about.

It's funny how you hear the term japs expect from the people who actually fought the Pacific war. They respect Ed the enemy and call them the imperial Japanese army or navy.

The visual aspect leaves out the smells of all this rage. Still gotta fight for what's right. Surviving leaves things that never go away.

This is back before democrats called anyone who was proud to be American a white supremacist. Even if they weren't white.
reply

It's like a miracle because a country won the biggest war in history without a bomb falling on its mainland.

Tricked into destroying our Christian brothers in the name of communism, freemasonry, and international Judaism

The title should have been The Last Two Years of The American War Machine America The War Years Timeline
