What Being a Prisoner In the Tower of London Was Like

What was it like to live in the Tower of London? That depended on a prisoner's social position and personal wealth; however, even the most notable prisoners were subject to horrible fates. Many prisoners in the Tower of London faced torture and even death, but privileged inhabitants brought servants and threw feasts. The Tower of London didn't start off as a prison, but it certainly became one of the gnarliest places to send criminals and political enemies. The last executions at the Tower of London took place after World War II when Josef Jakobs was shot by firing squad. But between its origins and the final shot, the Tower of London offered a vast array of experiences for prisoners

The Tower of London was full of abuse and torture. People would also gather around inside seeing people getting abused/tortured.
It was rare to see people get out of there alive, and even if they did, they would have broken bones. And a terrible skin with SO MANY scars all over their body.
But the Rich people would bring their maids with them to cook them good good and give then massage.
The Rich people would also sleep in a perfect clean bed, no spiders, no rats like the poor. No nothing.
The Rich people would say in there for 5 years without abuse/tortured.
So people back then would hate the Poor so much, in that generation poor = worthless, not enough, not perfect, deserves punishments even if they were Innocent. Rich = price-full, more than enough, more than perfect, doesnt deserve punishments even if they did terrible stuff.
Im so glad I wasnt in that generation.

I dont know too much about the tower, but I have read a lot of historical books from the Tudor era and generally speaking gentry were not treated harshly. They were not treated to the tortures that common people were, it was not allowed, unless at specific instruction from the monarchy and they were loath to have gentry treated in such a way. Before and after the tudors, who knows?

I would have rated my stay 4 stars but the screams of the poor kept me awake. It wasnt the worse experience. But it wasnt the best either. I did appreciate that they had a on site chiropractor. It really helped relieve the kink in my back. For that I give my stay 3 stars.

As much as Im not a fan of Ann Boylen (the wait she treated Catherine and her daughter) I just dont get why their was no one to help her escape. Her own dad gained prominence from her marriage he didnt think to put something in place to aid her. Such an awipe of a Dad.

It was very rare for rich prisoners to experience the rack, Little Ease, the Scavengers Daughter or the manacles. Servants, poor people and less significant accessories to the crimes of the rich would.

Is it me or are the most of the towers folk innocent? Some may have had it decent but there were 2 young boys that were put there and disappeared and were forgotten until they found their little bones.

John Balliol.
A man who packs for every eventuality.
The rich could buy comforts in the Fleet Prison too. That'd make an interesting video.

Which ever one was out of favour that week there was not one week in the entire period of the 1600s where Roman Catholicism was tolerated in England

Ofcourse antisemitizm didnt started in Germany, but instead every form of racism started in England while now they call out everyone else on racism!

The wealthy people usually weren't subject to torture unless the monarch really had it in for them. It was to respect their station in life.

Please get rid of the noisy background sound! It makes it hard to hear the information. And why do I tune in other than learn about the topic?
reply

Good content but I stopped watching this one because of the annoyong background music and small pictures with distracting wide frames.

The best known modern times prisoners at The Tower were none other than Ronnie and Reggie Kray, who were there when they were young.
