It’s hard to imagine a world where illnesses were treated with things like rushing currents or leeches, but not so long ago, that was the case. The world of medicine and our understanding of the human body is always in flux. New discoveries are made every day, and before too long, you learn that the cigarette you were smoking to cure your upset stomach was actually loading you up with cancer. To read more about crazy medical practices of the past, go here:

That last sentence killed the value of this video. There is a vast difference between treatments with mercury or bloodletting, and current medicine based on actual scientific research. Yes, science is always on the move and it's likely that new treatments will replace current ones, but that does not mean that current treatments are as useless and dangerous as the ones described in this video. Everybody who has not had smallpox, tuberculosis, polio, diphtheria, nor any disease prevented with vaccines can attest that. Everybody who had an infection and didn't die from it can attest that antibiotics work. Everybody who had a complicated fracture, stones in their gallbladder, needed a valve in their heart replaced or a tumor in their brain removed, can attest that surgery and asepsia/antisepsia work.
The States are at the brink of having an antivaxxer as Secretary of Health and stopping all research on infectious diseases as he wants. This is not the time for seeding mistrust on medicine based on scientific evidence.

Not so much worse than some of things we use
now. could say the same about many foods too and at least whatever they were eating gross as it may have been it wasnt pumped full prerservatives and artificial flavorings also known to be carcinogenic so yeah can try to make things seem worse. I didnt watch but Im sure mercury got a mention and yet they still put mercury in vaccines. they claim there is its not enough to hurt you but they also taught in school any mercury is bad so yeah think what one may but theres not much that is much better and theres definitely nothing new

We still believe MILK is good for your health, as the Farming Industry pays a LOT to the US Government.
Japan has one of the lowest diets to include milk and, has one of the lowest levels of Osteoporosis.
The calcium in milk actually leaches out the Magnesium & Potassium your healthy bones need.
The US Government of course, would rather accept the extra bribes to keep the farming industry going.
There are too many vested interests’, for the Government to actually CARE FOR ITS’ CONSTITUENTS.

It's so much better nowadays! We can all take tons of antidepressants and tranquilizers, painkillers and antipsychotics that leave us totally numb, unable to remember our own names and void of anything resembling emotions or a personality! Isn't it brilliant, now we can no longer feel anything, all we have to do is swallow the meds and believe anything we get told by those who are so much cleverer and better than we are!

My grandmother (1913-2011) had a young sister (1917-1939) that died at age 21, not making it to her 22nd birthday. I was born 23 years after her death. I heard about this for years but never was told why she died so young. Then I got Ancestry to do family research and that is when I found out that she died at an mental asylum.
She died from shock treatment what was considered a cure for mental issues at the time

some 'Illnesses' are _still_ treated with leeches. To treat venous congestion stemming from microsurgery to reattach body parts, leeches are often used to reduce swelling, and are also used to help treat symptoms for varicose veins, muscle cramps, thrombophlebitis, and joint diseases such as epicondylitis and osteoarthritis.

Let's not forget about Thorotrast - that could have been on your list. Who would have thought that injecting a radioactive metal might be dangerous And they're still using horribly dangerous treatments, cures and contrasts today including toxic heavy metals (e. g, gadolinium.

Imagine being a dead Egyptian royal that was mummified, and you find out somehow close fat alcoholic named Johnathan in an era long after yours, has powdered your remains and is now snorting it like coke off an escorts ass in a private parlor in a mansion.

Chain saws were invented to aid in child birth! They were hand cranked. They looked like a egg beater with a bunch of scalpels on it. The woman wasn't expected to survive. They were just hoping the baby did. They were reimaged for wood later.

Nothing has really changed. Pharmacies today are full of over-the-counter homeopathic remedies, and nearly all medical use of cannabinoids is a scam. People are suckers, and people in misery are some of the biggest suckers.

Urine has been used as a cleaner, in the production of wool, & in makking black powder for blullets, & explosives. Both urine, & fexes was used as manure, & in leather making, in some places it still is.

My grandfather used to use Mercurochrome on my wounds as a child. Later find out that it is banned in the US because it has or is made with mercury I think I'm okay lol.

Mercury is not really in the past. It is in vaccines. any vaccines. I have a mouth full of mercury. All those fillings I acquired have copious amounts of mercury in them.

I think drilling into the skull without anaesthetic would have been one of the worst experiences ever. The pain of the procedure alone would have been horrendous!

Most otc and prescription medications ingredients would horrify you if you paid attention. Pharmaceuticals are alternative meds NOT growing your own meds.
