On live television, anything can happen. And when you’re a live comedy show going strong for the past 50 years, like Saturday Night Live, you’re bound to experience some outrageous, profane, and just plain rude behavior from celebrity hosts pushing the boundaries. In all the years SNL has invaded our weekends, a little over a dozen performers and guests have been barred from ever returning to the legendary studio, whether due to their attitude, their backstage antics, or an on-air stunt that left the show embarrassed. We’re looking at you, Adrian! To read more about banned SNL hosts, go here:

What do I think I think Weird History should also look at musical guests who were banned from SNL (other than musical guests who became hosts such as Frank Zappa did) The first person who comes to my mind to be on the banned musical guests list is Sinead O'Connor, who was banned in the early 1990s after she ripped apart a photo of Pope John Paul II during her performance prompting an onslaught of angry phone calls and other forms of complaints from the public.
(edit: word change/correction) - agree -> angry)

Three things we learned from this video-
1. Never trash 30 Rock and Studio 8H, incite a riot to the point that the NYPD gets involved or in the case of Cypress Hill light a marijuana joint on national television unless you're looking to get banned from SNL.
2. Never anger Dick Ebersol, Lorne Michaels, Brandon Tartikoff or NBC.
3. Never allow John Belushi or anyone else to bring in whoever they want in exchange for a cameo.

Honorable Mentions-
FEAR for inciting a riot and trashing Studio 8H at 30 Rock.
Cyprus Hill for lighting up a marijuana joint and trashing their instruments.
Sinaid O'Connor for ripping up a picture of Pope John Paul II.
The Replacements for getting so drunk and turning their second song into a complete fiasco.
Rage Against the Machine for hanging the American flags upside down and being disruptive.

I immediately knew that a bunch of people would be in here complaining about SNL or flexing about not watching it, all because their feelings got hurt by some political skit. George W. Bush was spoofed more than any other U. S. President and he said that he loved it. The only Presidents who ever really boo-hooed about it were Gerald Ford and, of course, Donald Trump, who complained very, very often each and every time.

I cannot believe I'm going to say in the defense of one of these schmucks, but in defense of Mary Lassier, damn near everyone behind the scenes on SNL's first season was on something. The only one who wasn't regularly either on weed, coke or heroin in the first season were the Muppets, and that's only because they were hand puppets.

7: 14 black face without the makeup.
So we literally live in a world where you can do black face without even doing black face. That's wild. I'm going to assume that you hate minorities because you did a video on SNL. You made a racist video without making a racist video. Welcome to the world you created.

Look up tge Eddie Murphy episode of Buckwheat's greatest hits. I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE the shit that would never fly today because of the progression of SENSITIVITY TRAININGThey made fun of THEMSELVES! What a humorless and Lacklustre world this world has become!

Martin’s monologue was TACKY, but he didn’t deserve a ban. It would have been beautiful to bring him back for the Christmas show that reunited Eddie Murphy, Dave Chapelle, and Chris Rock. Martin is a legend who deserved to be present.

Steven seagal is the most delusinal peeson ive ever seen. Someone please tell him hes not a bad ass tough guy. He defrcated in his trousers when Ronda rousys 80 year old friend choked him out. Steven is his own biggest fan and its sad
reply

Robert Blake: was six years old in his first film -- he is the kid selling raffle tickets in The Treasure of the Sierra Madre, and the killer in In Cold Blood. He had a long, impressive career.

I never watched SNL much. The last time I saw it I was working as an in-home care giver. My client watched it and I'm sitting there thinking is this sposed to be funny Haven't watched since
reply

Least surprising was definitely Steven Seagal. Everyone who works with him ends up hating his guts. Even the notoriously difficult Chevy Chase is friends with some of his collaborators.

I’m a TV producer. Have been for more than 30 years. Every person who is in front of the camera is impossible to deal with. It’s obvious that their egos are off the charts.
reply

I like that you finally rotes new food/weird history have alternated new episodes- cant sleep without it! Soothing- have spent time in jail, miss your voice the most- sorry babe! Haha
reply

You have the Zappa story wrong. He was forced to play a song he didn't want to do, so he did another one instead on the live take and Lorne got mad at him for doing it.
reply

George Carlin was the first host of SNL. He was never invited back for any more shows or for the anniversaries. He resented it in interviews to the day he died.
reply

You guys should do a whole episode about Milton Berle's cock and how much he loved showing it to anyone and everyone all the time.
That's some weird history.

reply

SNL stopped being something to watch around 20 years ago. It’s not like they really have anything funny now. It’s just sad and pathetic at this point.
reply

I remember watching that monologue from Martin Lawrence. I also remember not really totally understanding what he was talking about, since I was a kid.
reply

Bunch of cucks telling the same old story that snl isn’t funny anymore cause they hate having their feeling hurt when they make fun of Trump
